The Royal Academy is great, big brother. I love the specialized training facilities they have here. But itâs just that they ask for Ether Crystals too much. Why canât they just make them all free since we all are talented students of this Academy?" Lexi said to Logan while swinging her sword.
Logan smiled despite the exhaustion. "Donât worry, Lexi. Once your brother becomes a Rank holder on the Leaderboards, you can have as many Crystals as you want. And maybe then, they wonât even ask for Crystals from us anymore."
"Thank you big brother. Youâre the best." she blew a kiss, and a certain black haired boyâs fave surfave in her mind.
"That arrogant bastard will never be able to come here enjoy these privileges," she fumed.
Logan knew exactly whom she was talking about. But he only laughed contemptuously.
"Donât compare yourself to that white frog, Lexi. He will never stand in the same status as us.."
"Hehe, youâre right brother."
Lucia, who was struggling to lift a rock boulder with her hands, just silently shook her head at their naivete.
Getting on the Leaderboards was far from easy. Only 100 students, mostly prodigies, ever got the chance to carve their names there.
Logan hadnât fought a true opponent yet, and that was the source of his overconfidence. Once he learned the hard way, he would definitely understand.
It was then that she noticed Adonisâ face.
"Is it him?"
At first, she was doubtful.
But when she recalled how confidently Adonis had claimed he would get into the Academy, her suspicion grew.
So she went closer to look.
And the closer she got, the more certain she became.
It was indeed Adonis.
She immediately called out, "Adonis! Stop!"
Her shout not only drew Adonisâ attention, but also Loganâs and Lexiâs.
They also saw Adonisâ face and features. Black hair, that hateful face.
He was unmistakably Adonis, their illegitimate half-sibling.
"B-brother, am I seeing things right?" Lexi stammered. "Whatâs he doing here?"
Logan frowned. "I donât know. Maybe heâs here to meet us. Letâs go. I will show him his place."
Meanwhile, Lucia was already standing before Adonis.
She looked at his usual trademark smirk from up close.
"So youâve finally arrived? Just like the way you said you would," she murmured, not wanting to believe her own words.
"Yes, big sister. Your little brother couldnât stay away from you for long. Thatâs why I had to get a special admission to the Academy as soon as I could," he replied playfully.
She rolled her eyes behind the square frames. But still, a faint curve formed on her lips. She was definitely feeling a little happy on the inside.
"You certainly know how to make an entrance, Adonis. I am actually a little scared now."
"I had to. Like you, I also fear losing the world from my grasp."
"Same old tone of an overambitious conqueror. Donât get yourself locked up when an official hears you." she mocked, though in way good way.
Logan and Lexi shoved through the gathering crowd of ordinary students, their faces twisted in identical scowls of disbelief and contempt.
Logan clamped straight at Adonisâ shoulder, the scowled,
"What the hell are you doing here? This is the Royal Academy, not some backwater training yard for bastards and trash like toh."
Lexi stepped up beside him, pointing an accusing finger at Adonis.
"Yeah! We donât want to see your face here. Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of. You donât belong among real talents."
"Ohh?" Only then Adonis turned slowly to face them. The playful smirk from his exchange with Lucia vanished into something colder.
He removed Logan grip from his shoulder, then met Loganâs glare without a sweat.
"Whatâs it to you? Iâm here because I was admitted. Special admission," he replied, maintaining his calm.
Logan broke into manic laughter.
"Special admission? You?" He looked around at the growing circle of onlookers, raising his voice for the audience.
"Listen to this! The illegitimate runt of our mighty Kingsbane family thinks he can just waltz into the Academy on âspecial admission.â What a joke!"
He stepped closer, looming over Adonis, voice dripping with scorn.
"Listen well, you mother fucking bastard! Youâre nothing but a white frog dreaming of the moon. A null-blooded bastard who got lucky once or twice. Everyone knows the Kingsbane name doesnât extend to trash like you. Youâre a stain on the family, and youâll always be one."
Lexiâs friends, several noble girls who had followed them, giggled behind their hands, adding fuel to the fire.
"Look at him standing there like he belongs," one sneered.
"Probably bribed someone," another whispered loudly.
"Or begged. Thatâs all a bastard can do."
The ordinary students pressed in tighter, forming a loose ring around the confrontation.
Naturally, whispers spread like wildfire.
All of them wanted a show.
So, no one intervened.
Adonisâs hands clenched at his sides.
He was furious. So much so he wanted to kill this half sibling of his, for insulting Adelaide.
He took one step forward, closing the distance between him and Logan until they were almost nose to nose.
"Youâve talked enough, Logan." Adonis said cold as Ice. "Itâs time I showed you your place."
He placed one hand over his chest.
Buzz!
Instantly, a pulse of chaotic energy rippled outward, strong enough to make nearby students stagger back a step.
The Chaotic Harem Sword materialized from his sternum in a swirl of dark mist.
The Sword Soul was black, unadorned, yet radiated a taboo pressure so oppressive that made the weaker students shake instinctively.
Adonis lifted the blade and pointed it directly at Loganâs throat, tip hovering just an inch from his Adamâs apple.
"Draw your sword, Logan," he said quietly. "Right here. Right now. Or shut your mouth forever and admit youâre nothing but a loudmouth hiding behind Kingsbane name."
The training field went deathly silent.
Loganâs face paled for a split second before rage flooded back in. His hand went to his own Sword Soul, which already began to glow with angry crimson light.
"Bastard! You think you can challenge me? Iâll cut that smirk off your face and send you crawling back to whatever gutter you came from!"
Lexi grabbed Loganâs arm, eyes wide.
"Brother, waitâ"
But Logan shook her off.
The battle is on.
And the entire Royal Academy training ground waited for the first move.
