Chapter 146 Combat Exercise [Part 1]

Roman was still practicing his Mana control when he heard the usual loud noise, almost all the students were already awake before then.

The door opened as Ava walked in.

"I thought you were training but I didn’t see you at the training ground?" She asked as she walked over to her side of the room taking her clothes off.

"I was close to the library, I stopped there after running around the academy, but I saw you practicing ice spells" Roman replied as he stood up.

"You should be working on magic instead of physical prowess, unless you’re an enchanter who can’t do without a sword, but you’re an elemental mage," Ava said.

"True, but I like running around in the morning, it’s something I want to get used to," Roman said, and Ava turned around.

She was completely naked, her clothes and undergarments were ok, her bed as she stared at Roman, whose clothes were also off, but he had on undergarments to cover his little brother.

"You know we can’t, we’ll be late," Roman said as he saw the way Ava was looking at him.

"You got me excited last night, to be honest, I also came over to your bed at night"

"I thought you said I’m going to spoil your life just because I’m an S-rank male, you don’t feel that way anymore?" Roman asked with a smile on his face as Ava began walking towards him.

"You were the one who caused this. I was a virgin, but now I can’t stop thinking about having sex," she muttered, standing in front of Roman.

Roman’s eyes were down, looking at her tits, but he still wasn’t reaching for them.

With a smile on his face, he whispered in her ears, "We’ll be late"

Roman picked up the cloth he used to clean his body and walked towards the door. Ava also went towards her bed and picked up hers, and both of them walked to the bathroom with Roman in front.

Almost everyone was taking their bath, still, there was space enough for Roman and Ava.

The bath was quick as they had classes, and Miss Clara hated them being late.

When Roman was done, as he stepped out of the room, Reina and the princess were also done, and both of them stepped out, talking to each other.

"Roman morning," Reina said.

"Morning, and princess" Roman replied as he looked at both of them.

"I’m Aurelia in here, not princess, also Ava, I don’t know if you’re interested, but we should duel someday, I’ll love to know how I’ll fare against an opponent as strong as you." She spoke.

"As strong as me, I’m not that strong, but I’m happy to duel anytime, it helps with training" Ava replied.

Regina and Ava were staring at themselves till they got to the main building. Reina and Aurelia were part of Miss Alder’s class, so they parted ways, and the class began.

The class went on for hours with Clara teaching them even more things on spell casting and going deeper into the seven types of magic.

Roman was getting every piece of information from all the types of magic, he was fully focused on the class, and when it was done, he was one of the first people to leave, just as yesterday.

He went to the dining hall after class, When he got there, that’s when he realized that he was super hungry, he hadn’t eaten last night as he was too busy with his hawk, and when he was done, he was already tired, but still managed to have sex with the healers.

Roman ate quickly even before the girls made their way here. When they arrived, Roman was already done, and when they were standing in line, he left the dining hall.

He went to the building, and as he pulled the door opened, Victoria was already lying down waiting.

"Sorry, I’m late," Roman said as he stepped in and closed the door.

"No problem, ohh...your Mana is increasing, and a little more refined, it seems you’re taking this seriously, it’s what I like to see, but it’s still not enough," Victoria spoke.

"Not enough?"

"Yes, today we’ll do a little combat exercise. Also, you have ten minutes to walk towards me; you shouldn’t spend it standing there." Victoria spoke.

"Ten minutes," Roman muttered as he covered his entire body with Mana, even though he wasn’t used to it, it was better than yesterday.

He took a deep breath before walking forward. After he took the first step, he felt the pressure, but unlike yesterday, he didn’t go down on his knees. His legs felt heavy, but it was okay.

Roman began walking forward, though he was moving slowly, it was better than being on the ground. After a while, he was taking step after step, and soon he was in front of Victoria.

"More than ten minutes," She said.

"What combat exercise are you talking about?" Roman asked as he felt the pressure vanish.

"I haven’t seen someone, especially a male this excited about combat, you do know this is your first combat training and you’ll get beaten, and I mean a lot"

"What would I be fighting, your clone made of shadow?" Roman asked.

Victoria smirked and crossed her arms. "You’ll be fighting me."

Roman blinked. "Wait... you’re serious?"

"Dead serious," she replied. "Of course, I’ll be holding back. A lot. But I want to see how you move, how you defend, how you think in real battle."

"I don’t think I’m ready for that yet, I don’t have any defensive ability"

"How did you walk towards me then?" Victoria asked and Roman nodded his head.

Roman took a deep breath. "Do I get a weapon?"

Victoria tilted her head. "No. I want to see what you can do barehanded with just Mana reinforcement. Also, why do you need a weapon, Are you planning to take up sword fighting"

"Maybe in the future, I haven’t put my mind to it but I’ll be facing you so at least I should have something"

"You can attack me with your fireball"

Roman chuckled, stepping back slightly and raising his hands. His Mana surged around his arms, legs, and chest—a thin coat, trembling a bit at the edges.

"I’m ready."

"Good," Victoria said, and in the blink of an eye, she disappeared.

Roman barely had time to react before her leg swept low toward his feet. He jumped—not fast enough—and stumbled back, almost falling.

She didn’t follow up, only watching him carefully, the speed at which she moved towards him was different when she attacked him, that was why he was able to react.

"Sloppy reaction and I slowed down too much. Don’t rely on your eyes too much. Feel the Mana coming at you."

"You’re too fast, I couldn’t even see you just now, it felt like you disappeared" Roman spoke.

"Good, I’m going to keep disappearing until you get the hang of it"

Roman gritted his teeth and steadied himself.

She moved again, a little faster this time—a jab aimed for his stomach. He instinctively raised his forearm, and her fist slammed into it.

The impact sent a shockwave through his body, and he skidded back, his hands felt that.

"That’s better," she said, lowering her stance. "Again."

This time, Roman dashed forward, trying to close the distance. He threw a punch—straightforward—but Victoria parried it easily, twisting his wrist and spinning behind him.

She kicked him in the back, sending him face-first to the ground.

"Ow..." he groaned, coughing, but as he looked up, Victoria held a sword made out of shadow and thrust it towards him.

"Arrghh..." Roman shouted as he used his hands to cover his face but the weapon stopped before it reached him.

’Shit...I’m supposed to roll out of the way’

"So, when a sword is being swung at you, you block with your arms. What if the sword is coming at you for the second time, and your arms have been cut off after the first time?" Victoria asked.

"I was shocked, I didn’t expect a sword" Roman replied as he stood up.

"So you got scared and thought the best thing to do was sacrifice your arms, if you were fast enough to cover with your arms, then you’re fast enough to roll out of the way, think smarter," Victoria said as she walked backwards.

Roman took a deep breath, closing his eyes, and immediately he felt something behind him. he quickly turned around with both of his hands up and curled into fists.

One of Victoria’s shadows was behind him, just some feet away.

The moment he closed his eyes, he felt Mana behind him, just like someone was trying to sneak up on him.

"See... that’s how you fight, be aware of everything around you, you won’t be fighting demons anytime soon but these are things you’ll have to learn, we’ll start again, this time I’m not going to attack you but try to guess where I’ll hit you"
