Chapter 31 - 30: Who Gave You the Nerve?

The security guard couldn’t help but give Ye Ling a complicated look.

"Please don’t make this difficult for me."

A few security guards now surrounded them. Naturally, they didn’t believe a word Ye Ling said. How could a young man like him possibly be a shareholder of the Shengding Group?

They were supposed to have some familiarity with the major shareholders. After all, it wouldn’t do to offend some big shot and get fired on the spot.

And based on what they knew, while they couldn’t claim to recognize every shareholder, they were at least certain they had never heard of one being so young.

Today was the day of the Shengding Group’s board meeting. If a scene was made, none of them could bear the responsibility.

So, they planned to "escort" Ye Ling out.

Although they felt a slight bit of sympathy for Ye Ling, they had their own jobs to think about... They couldn’t just let him barge in like this, could they?

"Ye Ling..."

Seeing the situation, Ning Ruoxi realized something was wrong and couldn’t help but gently pull on Ye Ling’s arm.

"There, there. It’s alright."

Ye Ling reached out and gently patted her head, then looked at the security guards. "I think you’d best report this to your superiors."

"There’s no need to report anything. Please leave the Shengding Group immediately!"

The lead security guard spoke up at once. Under normal circumstances, reporting it wouldn’t have been an issue; in fact, it would have been the proper procedure.

’But all the company’s bigwigs are busy with the board meeting right now. If I go report this, aren’t I just asking for trouble?’

Meanwhile, Zhu Yun was arranging matters for the board meeting. As the chairman’s assistant, she had a lot to deal with and was looking rather overwhelmed.

Just then, an assistant approached with a phone. "Sister Yun, there’s a message here."

Zhu Yun merely glanced at it, and her expression immediately changed in alarm.

"Damn it, I was so busy I forgot. Something big is about to happen."

Zhu Yun shot to her feet and handed the file in her hand to the junior assistant. "You all handle the rest. I have to go pick someone up."

With that, Zhu Yun hurried downstairs.

Watching Zhu Yun’s departing figure, the many senior executives of the Shengding Group were puzzled.

’Just who could it be that requires Zhu Yun to welcome them personally?’

’And she looked so flustered. Could it be some major figure?’

One had to understand, as the chairman’s assistant, Zhu Yun held a very high position within Shengding, especially since the Shengding Group’s chairman hadn’t made an appearance in many years.

She even presided over many of the routine board meetings!

It was safe to say her authority even surpassed that of some board directors!

Ye Ling, meanwhile, pulled Ning Ruoxi over to a sofa in the Shengding Group’s lobby and sat down. He glanced at the guard and said, "Don’t worry, someone will be here to get me soon."

At the side, Li Xin started shouting.

"What are you all standing around for? Are you just going to let this brat act so outrageously inside Shengding?"

At this, the security guards sighed, stepped forward, and grabbed Ye Ling by the shoulders, about to drag him outside.

But Ye Ling’s body was as immovable as a mountain.

’What a joke. My physique has been enhanced tenfold; how could ordinary people possibly move me?’

"What the hell!"

One of the guards frowned, pulled the electric baton from his waist, and flipped the switch. A sharp CRACKLING sound instantly filled the Shengding Group’s building.

"Ye Ling!"

At that moment, Ning Ruoxi’s eyes filled with anxiety.

Although she knew about the enhancement of Ye Ling’s physique, this was a high-voltage electric baton!

"Stop right there!"

Just as the guard was about to jab the electric baton into Ye Ling’s side, a cold, furious shout rang out.

Zhu Yun had just stepped out of the elevator to see this scene, and it nearly scared her to death.

’Damn it, is this person out of his mind? How dare he lay a hand on *him*!?’

The security guards froze. When they saw it was Zhu Yun, they stood aside, stunned.

To them, she was practically a goddess!

Li Xin, at the side, also hadn’t expected to attract Zhu Yun’s attention. He immediately put on a respectful expression and explained, "Sister Yun, I’m Li Xin. Do you remember me? It’s like this, this guy isn’t with our company, he’s an outsider, but..."

"An outsider?"

And now, Zhu Yun was being so respectful to Ye Ling?!

But in Li Xin’s eyes, this look was undoubtedly one of tender affection.

’The woman he considered his target was looking at another man with such a worshipful gaze. How could he tolerate this!?’

"Sister Yun, you must be mistaken. This kid is just from some broke, working-class family. How could he possibly be any ’President Ye’?" Li Xin wheeled himself forward, his face full of doubt.

Zhu Yun’s gaze shifted to him, and Li Xin immediately shut his mouth.

Her aura was simply too terrifying; even a single glance from her exerted an invisible pressure on him.

This was the imposing presence of a superior!

"A moment ago, you said President Ye was an outsider. Now, you say he’s from a broke, working-class family. I’d like to ask you, who gave you the nerve to insult the owner of sixty percent of the Shengding Group’s shares? Was it Li Tianmin?"

Zhu Yun’s voice was like a clap of thunder, suddenly booming through the lobby.

In an instant, the entire hall fell silent.

"Sixty percent of the shares!?"
