Chapter 430: One Month
The two exchanged pleasantries before they went to the topic.
âI thought we were all going to die at that time.â Vulcan suddenly said, his face displaying a hint of fear.
Alaric understood what he meant by those words.
âBut then I saw how you fought.â Vulcan raised his head, his eyes flashed with a glimmer of admiration.
âA young Transcendent Knight with the courage and determination to face a Catastrophe-grade beast.â
âThatâs when I knew that only you have the power to slay that Catastrophe-grade beast and you didnât fail me.â
Vulcan smiled faintly.
âYou are probably the first in the empire to achieve such a feat. It wouldnât be an exaggeration to say that you have the same level of talent as the legendary warriors of the ancient era.â
Alaric chuckled with a look of embarrassment. This was the highest praise he received from someone other than his family.
âI donât deserve your praise, Sir Vulcan.â
âWithout everyoneâs support, I wouldnât have slain that beast. I donât dare claim that I can fight a Catastrophe-grade beast on my own.â
âAt least not at the moment.â
Vulcan scoffed. âLook at this guy acting so humble. You sound just like your father during his youth.â
Alaric laughed awkwardly.
He never thought that Vulcan was actually the chatty type of guy.
He spoke non-stop for over an hour and Alaric only nodded his head while pretending to listen.
After a long while, Vulcan noticed that Alaric was getting bored so he shooed him off. âYou look tired. You should get some rest.â
Hearing this, Alaric didnât insist on staying and nodded. âI had fun talking with you, Sir Vulcan. If you need someone to talk to, donât hesitate to call me.â
Vulcan snorted. âThis kid really knows how to pretend.â
Alaric acted like he didnât hear his words and left with the help of Aldrin and Samiya.
After they left, a figure emerged from behind the curtain and muttered with an exasperated tone. âDid you really need to spout nonsense for an hour? I was nearly suffocated standing behind the curtain while listening to your bullcrap.â
Vulcan stared mockingly at Lucas. âWho told you to hide behind the curtain?â
Lucas chuckled dryly as he took his seat by his side.
âThank youâŠâ
Vulcan raised an eyebrow. âWhat are you thanking me for?â
Lucas leaned on his seat and smiled. âI knew you spoke all that nonsense to get rid of my sonâs guilt.â
Vulcan scoffed. âStop saying such embarrassing things and just peel those oranges for me.â
***
Alaricâs treatment continued for another month. His body was not in a condition to do heavy physical activities so he wasnât able to perform his daily exercises.
For the past month, Samiya and a group of healers used their healing abilities on him. Coupled with his Supreme Regeneration and the elven medicinal herbs, his energy core gradually improved.
A month ago, he could barely absorb mana. Now, he could use mana to speed up his recovery.
All the wounds in his body had already scarred. There was still some lingering pain, but they were manageable.
âHershey and Elena might pester me if they see these scars,â Alaric mumbled bitterly as he looked at his reflection in the mirror.
His skin was now covered in new scars of all shapes and sizes. It reflected the intense battle they had been through.
Sighing heavily, he changed into a new set of clothes. This time, he wore formal attire since today was a bit special.
It was their last day in the Greenwood Kingdom.
At this moment, two women suddenly stepped forward. They were Mathilda and Celine.
âPlease allow us to help you, Your Highness.â Mathilda offered while staring at Alaricâs face.
Alaric looked at them through the mirror and shook his head. âItâs fine. I can do this on my own. You two can wait for me outside.â
Mathilda looked disappointed, but she didnât insist. Meanwhile, Celine stayed silent the entire time.
âWe obey your words, Your Highness.â The two ladies bowed before leaving the room.
Alaric sighed as he watched them leave.
Lustful Cauldron. Thatâs one strange ability⊠Itâs getting harder and harder to resist her charm.
Alaric shook his head.
He spent a quarter of an hour adjusting the creases of his clothes. After making sure that he hadnât forgotten anything, he stepped out of the room.
âLetâs go.â He nodded to the two ladies who were waiting for him outside.
During the past month, they had been taking care of his daily needs. It wasnât appropriate for Samiya to handle menial tasks so these two were responsible for helping him.
At first, Yvanna was highly resistant to seeing them in close contact with him, but she gradually accepted their presence.
Upon stepping out of the recovery facility, Aldrin, Samiya, and a group of warriors led by Butch were already there waiting for them next to the carriage.
âYour carriage is ready, Your Highness.â Aldrin approached him while sending Mathilda a quick glance.
Her face and overflowing charisma were hard to resist, but knowing that she was Alaricâs woman, Aldrin forced himself to look away.
The escort warriors were the same. They couldnât help but stare at her shapely body. Unlike Aldrin, it took them a great deal of effort to pull their eyes away from Mathilda.
As for Butch, he showed no signs of interest. He only sent her a couple of curious glances.
Samiya faked a cough when she sensed them staring intently at Mathilda.
Alaric shook his head when he saw this.
I might need to find a way to tame her charisma. I canât have my men ogling at her all day.
âLetâs go meet the others.â He spoke to Aldrin.
Aldrin acknowledged his command with a bow. He then informed the coachman of their destination.
Alaric and the three ladies entered the carriage, while Aldrin and the warriors jumped onto their horses.
Butch made a hand signal to the escort warriors, signaling them to follow the carriage.
