"The Enforcers are sending a few commanders to come and help out. Agiel is in Boston handling a case, but sheâll head over as soon as sheâs done, and Luthor should be here soon."
Liam released a sigh of relief once he heard that there were commanders coming to help them. The commanders were all known to be powerful superhumans. There wasnât a single one that wasnât in the S rank already, and having just one S Rank superhuman in their ranks would change the entire tide of the battle. Liam was sure that Katarina would provide support to the superhumans in her guild from wherever she was, so that meant they just had to work hard to close this Gate with the people they had on hand.
"Itâs forming!"
A voice shouted from the side, and everyone on the rooftop looked up to see that the large Yellow Gate had finally begun to enter the final stages of its formation. The Gate formed a strong yellow outline in the sky before the space in the center began to swirl with a yellow wave. A breeze blew across the rooftop, and Liam put his hand up to his face as he felt the Gate finally beginning its suction stage as it fully formed in the sky. The winds grew harsher and developed into a typhoon as the Gate tried to suck in anything close by and force them inside, but thankfully Liam and the other superhumans were far enough away that they were only feeling a slight breeze from the suction.
Liam released a tired sigh as the Gate finally formed, and he seemed to finally accept the reality of the situation they were in. This Yellow Gate was a monster capable of eradicating their entire continent with ease, and there was no doubt that a lot of people were going to die while attempting to close it. Liam shook his head and turned away to begin walking towards Florence again! It was pointless to start worrying about what was inside the gate when they hadnât even gone in yet. They still had some time, so they were going to use that time to make sure the superhumans were prepared! The Yellow Gate had only just formed, so they didnât have to worry about it breaking and releasing any monsters for now!
Florence was also looking up at the Gate in awe, and she looked down when she saw Liam heading for her. Liam saw the first sign of fear flashing through Florenceâs eyes, but she forced her fear down as she frowned at him and asked him what he wanted. Liam immediately got to the point.
"We need to come up with a proper attack plan. There are more guilds here than I anticipated, so if we send them in, they wonât know what to do since thereâs no apparent leader. There are two S Rank Commanders coming soon, so we should wait and send them in as two groups. Each group will go with one of the Commanders. One group will take care of the monsters around the Gate and the other group will make their way straight for the Gate Boss."
Florenceâs frown deepened for a moment as she scrutinized that plan and tried to find any flaws in it. It was obvious that Florence didnât like Liam and the feeling was mutual between them, but Liam knew that Florence was a smart woman, so if there were any flaws in his plans, then she would be able to pick them apart and correct him without mixing words!
But after waiting for a few seconds, Florence finally sighed when she realized that there were no better plans at that moment. Liam was right about there not being a clear leader, and it would be better for them to send in two groups so they could be sure that even if one group failed, then the other group would be able to either retreat or succeed. Florence was about to say this to Liam, but she was cut off abruptly as someone else spoke from the side in a low, terrified voice.
"The wind stopped..."
It was just three words that the woman spoke, and on any other day, those three words wouldnât have had any meaning at all to the people there. But at that moment, every single superhuman felt an intense fear pass through their hearts when they heard her speak! The wind created by the Gate suction was an indication that the Gate was still actively working to draw people in. It was a sort of assurance that they wouldnât have to worry about it for at least a few hours since the monsters couldnât get out of the Gate. But there was only one reason why that wind would completely stop the way it just did. The Gate was about to break!
Woosh!
A new blast of wind blew across the rooftop and forced all the superhumans to put their hands up to their faces as they looked up in shock! This wind wasnât the same suction that they had felt previously! Instead, it was an outward wind that threatened to blow them off the rooftop in its intensity! Liam couldnât tear his eyes away from the Yellow Gate above him as he held a hand over his face! The Gate was releasing the wind, and that could only mean that the monsters inside were about to come out!
"Weâre all going to die."
It was Florence who had spoken in a low, haunted voice, and Liam swallowed as he also began to feel fear in his heart!
ROARRRRR!
A loud roar echoed out from within the gate, and Liam saw some of the superhumans getting their Gifts ready as they got ready for the monster. Even though they were shocked, the superhumans refused to go down without a fight! Another roar echoed through the city before a creature flew out from the Gate in all its glory.
It was a dragon that was twice as large as the one theyâd seen Jason riding! It had tough brown skin that looked like it would be able to deflect anything that was thrown at it. Its wingspan seemed to cover the width of an entire cargo ship and when it flew over them, it easily blocked out the sun with its sheer size! Four more dragons appeared from within the Gate and joined the first one! The new dragons were smaller than the first one, but they were no less menacing with their intense roars and terrifying appearance. The dragons flew towards the skyscrapers at the side and perched on them with long, sharp talons that easily sank into the concrete before roaring towards the superhuman on the rooftops!
ROARRRR!
The superhumans around Liam all took a step back, and Liam could feel an intense fear grip his heart when he saw that there were people riding on the back of the dragons! They had dark skin with black scales covering their cheeks and neck, and their blood-red eyes were slitted like a lizardâs. The person on the largest dragon gazed over the humans like they were trash that didnât deserve to even stand before him! The man put his hand to his neck, and his hand shone with a strange green light before he opened his mouth and spoke!
"!@#!!$#@$@#$#@!@!!!"
Liam didnât know what caused it at that moment, but a strange feeling of amusement suddenly came over him, and he couldnât help but release a low, haunted laugh as he realized that they were completely and absolutely fucked!
