Jason had sent out multiple phantoms to search the main palace so that he would know the Sovereignâs location, and once Jason was sure that the Sovereign was in a position where he could ambush him, Jason was going to swoop in and try to kill him in one shot.
âOr at least injure him seriously. I have no idea what sort of abilities he had as an SSS Rank. Hoping to take him out in one blow might be a foolâs dream.â
Jason frowned as this thought crossed his mind, and he was about to start moving to resurrect more of the dead soldiers and dragons, but he stopped when he suddenly saw various figures coming out of the main castle! These figures werenât like the Imperial Guards or rogues that were just regular foot soldiers! These soldiers had an aura of power around them, and they were wearing the same uniforms as Jaraht, so Jason immediately knew that these were the soldiers from the Royal Army. Jason realized that they had finally decided to join the fight, and he watched and waited patiently to see what the Royal Army would do next. If the army decided to first move towards where Ragnar was, then Jason was going to have to change his plans to go and help Jaraht and Azrael. Neither of them could take on these many soldiers, no matter how powerful they were.
But thankfully, the Royal Army didnât move together. Instead, they split up into eleven different units. Ten of them moved away from the city, and Jason could tell that they were heading for the towns under attack, and the final group continued moving towards the city center to join the Imperial Guards and Rogues! Jason smiled once he saw this! At least Jason was now sure that the Generals were splitting up, and this meant it would be easier for his Legion to take care of them individually! Jason immediately touched his comm and spoke to the team.
"The Royal Army is on its way to your locations. Anyone below S Rank needs to continue focusing on the Rogues and Imperial Guards and leave the Royal Army to the Legion. Those in S Rank and above, you can join in the fight against the Royal Army. Just make sure you keep them busy long enough for me to take care of the Sovereign. Once he is dead, the battle is won."
Jason got back words of agreement from the superhumans. Jason had made sure that the weaker superhumans were well protected by the stronger members of his Legion, so he was sure that none of the superhumans were dead yet. Once Jason heard all ten superhumans as well as the Enforcers confirm his words, he clicked off his comms and prepared to do one last run-through across all the towns. Jason was going to head to the Sovereign once he was done here, but first, he needed to give the superhumans more subordinates so that they would stand a better chance against the Royal Army!
[Kingâs Substitute] has been activated!
One of the Rook Rank superhuman subordinates that were fighting with Luthor suddenly disappeared from the field where Jason had just been, and Jason vanished and reappeared in the town where Luthor was! Luthor was fighting alongside multiple dragons and dragonborn that Jason had resurrected, and he was using his twin swords to create large blasts of fire that easily took down many of the Rogues and Imperial Guards! Even though Luthor wasnât strong enough to take down a member of the Royal Army easily, that doesnât mean he wasnât powerful! He was able to take on dozens of A Rank Imperial Guards, and the Rogues that didnât even have any formal training didnât stand a chance against him! Luthor hadnât noticed Jasonâs sudden appearance since Jason was suppressing his power, so he was still fighting with all his might and tearing through the Radagan soldiers easily! But Luthor suddenly stopped his sword from striking down one of the soldiers when he saw the man flinch back from his blade and raise his hand like someone who was terrified to even see himself get killed!
That one moment wasnât very special, but it struck something inside Luthor, and it made him realize that he wasnât fighting against the monsters that he was used to taking down without mercy. These werenât just mindless beasts that were trying to kill him. Some of them were family men, just like him. People who were fighting for the sake of their world and their family. And if what Jason said before was to be taken seriously, then a lot of them were fighting against their will. Luthor lowered his sword without killing the man, and he spoke to the men standing against him in a loud voice that echoed over the battlefield!
"I want to give you all a chance! We are not your enemy! We came here to help you fight against the tyrant that has taken over your world. If you want to be free, then Iâm asking you to stand with me and fight against the enemies."
Luthor shouted to the dragonborn, but none of them understood what he was saying. They looked at each other in confusion and wondered what the hell was happening, and it wasnât until Jason appeared beside Luthor that they all stopped and stared at him while preparing for a fight. Jason didnât bother to attack anyone, instead, he repeated what Luthor had said in the Radagan Tongue, and he watched as their reaction filtered across their numbers.
Luthorâs words were completely unexpected! A lot of the men stopped fighting the moment they heard Jasonâs translation, and they looked at each other with wide, curious gazes. The truth was that many of these men had no idea why they were fighting in the first place! The only thing that they knew was that their world had come under attack by some foreign inter-world travelers, and they were just trying to remove the invaders! They even thought that the interworld travelers were here to take advantage of the fact that they had just gone through a civil war, and they were trying to take over their world for themselves! But now that they knew that Luthor and Jason werenât thier enemies, many of them began to have their doubts about what side they were meant to be on. There were those who scowled at Luthor in distrust since they didnât want to side with an interworld traveler, and there were even those who sneered at him since they were on the side of the Sovereign and they believed that what the Sovereign had done to Radagan was the right thing to do!
But in the midst of these two parties was a third party that didnât stand with either of them! This party of people were not on the Sovereignâs side at all, and they had no love for what he had done to the Royal family. This group began to murmur quietly to themselves as they thought about what to do, and it wasnât long before Luthor saw a few dragonborn steering their dragon towards him. Luthor tightened his hand around his sword as he prepared for a possible attack, but he was surprised when the dragonborn didnât bother to even raise their sword against him! Instead, the dragonborn turned their dragons around once they were close enough, and now they were facing off against the army along with Luthor! It was the closest thing to an alliance that anyone could forge in such a tense situation! And it was obvious that a lot of the dragonborn didnât like it!
"Traitors!"
"How dare you stand against us!?"
"Iâll have your head for this! Iâll have your head and bring it to the Sovereign!"
"Just wait for the battle to end! Youâll regret this!"
Those standing against Luthor raised their swords and shouted in aggression towards those that had gone to be on Luthorâs side, and one of the men who was flying beside Luthor shouted back!
"You fools are fighting for the wrong side!"
