Chapter 936: One Big Misunderstanding

“You have been summoned to this world once?” Selena asked out loud.

Apparently, the topic was much easier to swallow than the innate ability, causing this topic to be more popular with the others.

Even Sera couldn’t help but interject, “Selena… Wasn’t the Ashton family…”

“Yeah.” Flora nodded in agreement. “The Ashton family recognized that a female summoner couldn’t summon a vampire progenitor…”

“Huh? What are you talking about? I’m always open to being summoned. In my first summoning, I enjoyed this world quite a lot.” It was Lilith’s turn to be completed.

In just a few seconds, Selena reached a conclusion that was so ridiculous that she didn’t want to believe it.

Selena asked, “You… have been summoned to this world once, right?”

“Yes.”

“When was it?”

“Year 5,009. That was the first time I was summoned here.”

“Yeah, 5,009?” Flora and the others looked confused. This was the first time they heard that kind of year. Sera raised her hand, asking, “Are you sure you’re not confused with the number? We are only at year 521 right now. Even before the year resets due to the alien’s invasion, it was only Year 3,012.”

“Oh.” Lilith’s eyes flashed, as though she understood what was going on. “Yeah. That’s probably the only reason… I can’t say for sure, but maybe I will be able to confirm it once the night comes.

“First of all, I know that this world is the same. If that’s the case, you are simply on another continent.”

“Another continent?” Flora raised her eyebrows.

“I see. You’re not really aware of it…” Lilith formed a stick with the blood and drew four pieces of land like that of a map on the ground. “There are four continents in this world or what was known before.

“Apparently, I was summoned into this world, specifically to the continent in the northeast, Erendntall. Although I didn’t personally go there, the people of my continent had gone to the continent below it, around the equator, the continent of the East, Myrall.

“However, there were two other continents according to what we had seen so far, but no one had gone there yet.

“We called the continent in the south, Qion. Meanwhile, the continent on the northwest was known as Gratzel.

“So, this continent must be either Qion or Gratzel. After all, Myrall was located on the equator, so the weather there consisted of only two seasons: rainy and summer. It has no winter like this place.”

“Ehm. This winter is not a natural one. It’s caused by a volcanic eruption… and from a different continent,” added Sera. “But well… we do have a winter season here.”

“A volcanic eruption? Oh, ashes?” Lilith finally understood what was going on. “A volcanic eruption that can cover the world like this… supervolcano?”

“You know about it?”

“I do, mostly from my original world.” Lilith nodded in understanding. “Still, we don’t know yet whether you are Qion or Gratzel. At least we confirm that this place is not Myrall. So, what’s going on with the curse or something?”

Selena facepalmed. “It’s so ridiculous that you won’t believe it…”

Lilith squinted her eyes. “Please elaborate, Summoner.”

“You have been summoned to this world once, so let me confirm one thing. How long did you stay in this world?”

“Let’s see…” Lilith raised her head. “Although I’m not sure how the time is calculated on this continent, if we’re playing with the cycle of night, it’s probably 110 years? When I met my summoner, she was still 16 years old. We worked together for 110 years before she passed away. She was a pretty energetic young lady, so she definitely worked hard to stay alive for that long and had a fulfilling life.”

Selena raised one finger. “Then one more question. Were you summoned at the beginning of the summoner era? Or at least, when being a summoner had just become a thing?”

“Indeed. It was only 5 years after people knew about summoners… No, maybe it was 3 years? 5 years after the first alien’s invasion.” Lilith nodded, confirming all Selena’s suspicions.

Selena pinched the bridge of her nose as if she had given up.

“What’s wrong?” Lilith also noticed other people’s expressions.

With a wry smile, Sera explained, “There is a family on this continent who has been summoning vampires for their entire life. And they’re called the Ashton family.

“In the beginning of their creation, their ancestor summoned a vampire progenitor called Cain. It was when summoners were just introduced.”

“Cain, huh?” Lilith nodded in understanding. “He’s a powerful guy.”

“Y…yeah?” Sera coughed. “Anyway, that ancestor had a younger sister and a daughter who were supposed to be as talented, if not more talented, than him, but both of them failed to summon a vampire progenitor.

“Although they were still talented enough, it had created a stigma in that family… that a woman couldn’t summon a progenitor or that a female vampire progenitor didn’t exist. As a result, the stigma continued running from one generation to another, completely shunning all the female summoners from that family. And Selena came from that family.”

“Wait. Doesn’t that mean…” Lilith was speechless, as she couldn’t believe it either. She finally understood Selena’s reaction.

In the end, it was all just one big misunderstanding? There was only one female vampire progenitor, but because two generations had failed to do so, the family stopped providing resources for female summoners. And all of it was due to the only female vampire progenitor being summoned on another continent.

That one reason had suppressed numerous generations of female summoners from the Ashton family.

It was so ridiculous that Lilith also facepalmed. “Are they… dumb? I mean, I understand the reason, but no one did anything to fix that? Are they so old-fashioned?”

“To be fair, we saved her father because her father was trying to find a bloodstone, which was originally planned to be a sacrificial item for Selena. So, her father could be considered a person who was trying to break that curse… but it turned out… everything was just a misunderstanding.”

Selena and Lilith were so speechless that they felt like cursing out loud. Even Sera and the others couldn’t believe it either, that the famous vampire family turned out to be so wrong without them realizing it.
