Chapter 418 Call It a Day, and Tim Takes a Hit
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Luke fired again, and two shooters who had just run through the warehouse gate collapsed.
The shooters were already on the move. With no time to care about their companions, they started to fire at the RV.
Selina asked, âI donât think you need my help, do you?â Luke said, âNope. Itâs just some small fry.â
Bang! Bang! Bang!
âAh!â Yet another shooter fell with a miserable cry.
There were eight shooters in total, and half of them had already been dealt with.
Since he had been prepared for the ambush, Luke didnât need Selinaâs help.
âTim and Natalie are on the move,â Selina warned him.
A black Audi charged in from the other side of the warehouse.
The black Audi sped toward the four remaining shooters from the side.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Two pistols were fired, and two of the shooters hurriedly took cover and didnât dare shoot at the RV anymore.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Luke easily took down the other two shooters, who were distracted by the newcomers.
Only two shooters were left on the scene, and they had to face both Tim and Luke.
Luke snorted. âBoring. I expected more people. Fine. Letâs call it a day.â Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! The two shooters, who had been hiding behind piles of junk, were hit from the side and cried out as they collapsed.
Outside, the RV started up.
Timâs black Audi, however, quickly turned around to block it.
âJeff, you canât leave.â Tim looked at Jeff, who was in the passenger seat, through the open window.
Jeff was panic-stricken. âYou... Youâre here to kill me?â
Tim rolled his eyes. âJeff, will you calm down? Did you think that those people were here to save you, with their guns?â
âBut your computer is full of data on my colleagues. Is that normal?â asked Jeff angrily. Natalie burst out laughing. âWow, youâre really good neighbors. Did you break into our house?â
Karen wasnât to be outdone. âYou put a bug in the gift you gave us. Is that what neighbors
do?â
Tim looked at Natalie awkwardly. âMaybe... it was a little too much?â
Natalie glared at her stupid partner, before she said to the other three, âWhat are you doing? Shouldnât you be more concerned about the person who saved you just now?â
Jeff, Karen and Carl were confused. What was that supposed to mean? Werenât those gunshots fired from someone on their side?
At that moment, a secondhand Ford slowly drove in through the gate, and Tim and Natalie both raised their guns warily.
When the Ford pulled up, everybody except Carl exclaimed in shock, âLuke?â.
Luke got out with a smile and waved at them. âHaha, seeing that all of you can still stand around and chat so happily, helping you get rid of those pests wasnât in vain.â
Everybody was confused. âWhat?â
Luke pulled out the chain around his neck to show them his badge. âLAPD, Major Crimes Division.â
Everybody: â...â
Twenty minutes later, all seven of them were sitting in a fast food restaurant.
âDo you want a potato pie? Or an apple pie?â asked Tim.
âA burger will be fine. I would like some fries too,â Karen said.
âI would like ice cream,â said Selina.
âSoda. What do you want?â Luke looked at Carl, the security manager.
Carl shook his head. âIâve been trying to lose weight. Just a soda will be fine.â
After they ordered, the booth was quiet for a moment.
Jeff asked Luke, âYouâre a police officer? Why did you never mention it?â
Luke shrugged. âBecause Iâm lazy. I didnât want Meg to pester me when her drain is clogged, her dog is missing, or her children donât want to eat. Iâm only responsible for robbery and homicide cases, but Iâm sure Meg wouldnât think so.â
Jeff and Karen were lost for words.
Meg was exactly the sort of person who would harass her neighbors for help with every small thing. Karen had been the biggest victim.
After that, Jeff and Karen started peppering Tim and Natalie with questions.
But the two of them replied to everything with âno comment.â
But as they spoke, Tim and Natalie started squabbling with each other.
On the side, Luke and Selina felt it was strange.
Whether they were secret service agents or detectives, it was clear that these two didnât see eye to eye on their job and their future.
This disagreement probably wouldâve only come out later, but while answering Jeffâs questions, Tim revealed that he was tired and hoped to retire.
Natalie had utterly no idea. Astonished, she asked Tim why he hadnât told her sooner. Annoyed, Tim replied that he had already been dropping hints, which she had subconsciously dismissed.
As they continued fighting, Natalie couldnât help but complain, âWho would hide a bug inside a glass sculpture?â That was precisely the reason why Jeff and Karen had found the bug.
While they were getting randy in the living room, they broke the sculpture, and found the bug. That sculpture was from none other than Tim.
Tim argued, âI like glass sculptures. Thatâs my hobby. I donât see why I shouldnât make a gift of it.â
Natalie asked, âAnd expose us?â
Tim asked, âThen what about the dress you wore for the mini beer festival? Iâm sorry, that didnât fit the situation at all, and couldâve exposed us easily too.â
Natalieâs eyes bulged. âWhat? You want me to cover my face up, like the women you saw in the Middle East?â
Tim said, âWith all due respect, you need to fit in; only then will it be easier to get around.âNatalie said angrily, âAre you kidding? This is a middle-class neighborhood. The women here are so unfriendly. You think theyâll like me if I wore a cheesy T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops?â âNo! Theyâll call you a bumpkin behind your back.â Tim and Natalie shifted their gazes.
Naturally, it was Selina who had spoken. She dealt Tim another blow. âThatâs right, thatâs what most women in this neighborhood would do. Oh, Karen, Iâm not referring to you. You know who Iâm talking about.â
Who? Meg, that disgusting b*tch, of course.
Karen smiled and nodded. âI know. Tim, I have to say that you donât understand the women in our neighborhood at all.â
Natalie spread her hands and looked at Tim proudly.
Tim was rendered speechless.
He had nothing to say in the face of these authoritative remarks by two women who lived in the very same neighborhood.
Seeing how Tim had been dealt a blow, Luke felt a little sorry for this big talker.
