Chapter 702: Very Good News
Entering the study on the second floor, Luke saw Jennyâs back.
This villa might be worth close to three million dollars, but naturally, it didnât have a very nice view.
In fact, the window in Jennyâs study only looked out onto a small area dozens of meters away. It wasnât grand at all, but it was quiet.
Luke coughed. âHi! Good evening, beautiful Miss Gwenis.â
Jenny slowly turned around and stared at him. A moment later, she charged at him.
Luke raised his hands. âWait, let me... hm?â
Their lips and tongues tangled passionately for a long moment before Jenny finally let go, panting but still clinging to him.
She exclaimed, âHow did you do it? Unbelievable! Darling, did you use some spell on Miss Beth?â
Luke wanted to scratch his head, and could only carry her to a chair and sit down. âAlright, calm down a little and take it slow. We have a lot of time tonight.â
Jenny finally calmed down a little. Looking at his face and recalling his habits, she suddenly realized something. âYou donât care about news on finance or technology at all, do you?â
Luke chuckled. âNo, you know I donât understand any of that.â
Jenny touched his forehead. âAre you sick? This is very important to the phone company, and you didnât even take a look?â
Luke exerted a little more strength to calm the excited girl down. âI like it when you tell me the news. That gives me even more satisfaction.â
Jenny hit him in frustration. âDamn it. Donât trick me with such rubbish... Forget it, Iâll be happier if you talk more like that in the future.â
Luke was amused. Most people always wanted to hear what they liked, whether it was true or false.
Jenny then told him the âgreat newsâ about the phone company.
Island Dragon Electronics suddenly announced that morning that a serious accident at one of their production bases would affect their chip production plan for the second half of the year, though the orders for major clients would still be completed as per contract terms.
Luke didnât understand what was so great about that. âDoesnât that mean that the production of the chips for our phones will also be postponed?â
Jenny, on the other hand, looked at him strangely for a long time. She couldnât help but kiss him again before she said, âThatâs what the newspapers said. But this afternoon, I received a notification from Island Dragon asking me to go over and discuss revisions to the chip production plan.â
Luke didnât say anything and continued listening to her.
âIn the end, I met Beth Patrick Thompson in person and made a deal for our chips to be supplied in advance,â said Jenny.
Luke was confused. âWait, something serious happened at Island Dragonâs production base. On one hand, they said that delivery of goods would be delayed for some clients, but on the other hand, theyâre going to supply our chips in advance. Whatâs going on?â
Jenny smiled. âOn the surface, itâs probably because of the problem at the production base, but their workers also canât earn a salary for nothing. Before resuming supply for the major clients, these workers will first process chips for other clients, and wonât be transferred back until the problem at the production base is resolved.â
Luke rubbed his forehead. âWait, can they use their workers like that?â
This wasnât like laying bricks; there was no need to move anywhere! Why did this just sound like nonsense?
Jenny smiled again, but this time, it was a mocking smile. âDo you know which companyâs contract deadline was put off?â
Luke rolled his eyes and suddenly asked, âThe Thompson familyâs NTC Phone Company?â
Stunned for a moment, Jenny asked in surprise, âHow did you know... Oh, you actually read the news and pretended not to know?â
Luke shook his head and said with a smile, âIf you want me to guess and you didnât say it outright, the answer is probably the one that doesnât make the most sense. Is there anything more unreasonable than a daughter refusing to supply her own fatherâs phone company with chips? I think there are very few.â
Jenny sighed in admiration. âFine, Detective Luke, youâre right... in part. Island Dragon is blocking the supply of chips to the Thompsonsâ NTC company. Can you guess why?â
Luke asked, âIs it a family conflict over money?â
Jenny nodded. âI pretended to let slip our visit to her fatherâs place, and her expression didnât look right.â
At that point, she sighed. âAlso, she couldnât hide her state back then from me. Disappointment, pain, anger, conflict...â
Luke hugged her and said, âWait, I lied a little just now.â
Just as Jenny was reminiscing, Luke interrupted her thoughts, and she asked curiously, âWhat lie?â
Luke said, âI think I know why Miss Beth is unhappy with her family. When I went to Poland to investigate, I saw only her own security team searching for her, while no one from her family showed up.â
Jenny was suspicious. âItâs not like you would know who the Thompson family sent to investigate.â
Luke said, âI investigated a few people in key locations near the hotel where Beth went missing who were most likely to be witnesses with leads. I spent a little more money and learned from them that only one group of people was investigating. It was Bethâs personal security team.â
Jenny was confused. âMaybe they hadnât gotten that far in their investigation?â
âMiss Beth is worth at least billions. Why would her father send out such an unprofessional investigation team when such a heavyweight member of the family is missing?â Luke sighed. âThe Thompson family is powerful and influential. This wouldnât have happened if they really wanted to investigate.â
Jenny immediately understood.
When there were too many coincidences, it didnât make sense.
When Beth went missing, it could only be because someone âwantedâ her to be.
Looking at her, Luke comforted her. âBethâs family may have some underhanded thoughts, but your father and brother donât. You have enough time to think about how to get along with your fatherâs new family. You have the initiative.â
Jenny was silent for a long time. Leaning on Lukeâs shoulder, she said, âYes, I have plenty of time and opportunities.â
A moment later, she raised her head. âLetâs talk proper business.â
Luke said with a smile, âJust now that was proper business too. The CEOâs mood is like a barometer for a phone company. If you enter the company with a dark face, wonât the employees tremble in fear like chicks?â
