Chapter 754: My Dream Was To Be a Singer!
Luke glanced at the Basic Vocal Sound and Basic Musical Instruments on the list of abilities which belonged to a girl with the âlionâs roar.â He was extremely calm.
They only cost 200 credit points, and he had long learned them.
He coughed and said solemnly, âMy dream was to be a singer!â
Both Claire and Selina had WTF expressions on their faces.
Luke had actually had many similar dreams in his past life. From wanting to be a scientist when he was young to becoming a magnate, he changed ambitions so frequently that he hadnât realized any of them before he transmigrated.
âListen to this.â He opened his mouth: âIt starts with one thing, I donât know why...â
Claire, who had lived with Luke for more than ten years, never thought that Luke could sing, and pretty well at that.
Selina calmed down a little. She had heard him sing once in a while, and although it wasnât in this style, all of it sounded pretty good.
Claire, who had always been interested in music, couldnât help but ask, âWhy havenât I heard this song before?â
Luke: â...I made it up.â
It was something from his previous life.
Claire and Selina were lost for words.
Claire asked again, âWho sings rock nâ roll like that? Can it even be considered singing?â
Luke said, âItâs a personal style, which is why I donât really appreciate your... er, agricultural heavy metal?â
Claire: âHuh? Thatâs heavy metal, alright? What agricultural heavy metal? Why havenât I heard of rock music like that?â
Luke said, â...Fine, maybe I remembered wrongly, but the meaningâs there. So, itâs not that I canât sing, itâs just that I donât usually sing.â
The rock songs that he remembered from his previous life were well-known masterpieces â he had long forgotten the average ones.
Of course, it wasnât fair to compare these top-notch rock songs of these top rock singers or bands with the ones that Claire listened to.
What he sang just now wasnât bad, and was a cross between rap and rock.
Claire had never heard it but she liked it, and couldnât refute his words at all.
She was distracted by this for a moment as she questioned Luke inquisitively on the rest of the song.
Selina reminded her, âHey, didnât you want Lukeâs help just now?â
Claire slapped her forehead. âI want to meet Sheerah and hear her personally talk about Batman.â
Luke scratched his head. âShe seems a little busy recently...â
But seeing the longing look in the little monkeyâs eyes, Luke said, âIâll call her.â
Sheerah quickly picked up. After a brief conversation, Luke hung up. âSheâs preparing a charity performance for the earthquake and is rarely at home.â
Claire gave a disappointed âohâ and didnât say anything else.
Looking at how listless the little monkey was, Lukeâs heart softened. âIt seems youâre pretty good at singing?â
Claire said, âDonât you know? I was in a band with a few guys in school. I learned basic music theory, but Iâm not a professional.â
Luke rubbed his chin. âLet me hear a bit of it.â
Claire: âHuh?â
...
That night, Luke drove to a hotel and made a call in the lounge before he sat down.
Ten minutes later, a woman wearing a T-shirt and shorts, and a cap and a pair of sunglasses, came over and sat opposite him. âLuke, long time no see.â
Luke said with a smile, âSheerah, Iâm sorry to bother you so late, but I have something to ask you.â
Most of the people who went out at night in Los Angeles were celebrities.
Sheerah was a big star, of course.
She was exhausted, but she was also interested.
Luke rarely contacted her directly. He sent her holiday greetings at most.
She still owed Luke a favor, so she had agreed to meet him the moment he called.
She nodded readily at his words. âGo ahead.â
âActually, you can use a little more publicity for your charity show...â Luke explained his idea simply, and Sheerahâs expression turned serious.
After some consideration, she felt that this plan was very practical.
For the past few days, she had been thinking about the charity performance itself, while Lukeâs idea was to promote it and let more people know about it.
It wasnât too difficult or too big to do, and could be done as a dress rehearsal for the performance.
âAnd the song?â She raised the biggest question. âWhere can I find a suitable new song?â
A new song was required for this promo event. It had to be in line with the theme of the charity show, and be something that could be sung by a lot of people.
Luke took out a piece of paper with a smile. âI got someone to write a song. You can take a look first.â
Sheerah was surprised. âYou found someone?â She picked up the song sheet and took a look, and couldnât help humming lightly.
Luke waited for a few minutes. Seeing that she was still trying to figure out how to sing the song, he couldnât help but tap the table. âSheerah, wait.â
Sheerah came back to herself and looked up at him. âHuh? What?â
Luke said, âYou can take your time looking at the song. As long as itâs for charity, you donât have to pay for it. Itâs up to you to decide if you want to use it or not.â
Sheerah looked at him in surprise. After thinking for a moment, she suddenly smiled. âIf thereâs something you need, you can tell me.â
Luke chuckled. âI have a sister whoâs curious about your new song and Batman, but youâve been busy recently...â
Sheerah raised her hand. âI can specially make time to chat with her. Thereâs no need for the two of us to be so polite, right?â
Luke said, âThe charity show is a serious matter while sheâs just curious; the two shouldnât be mixed together. So, I want her to come and help out during the show for a bit. You can talk to her when you have the time, but donât give her special treatment; just treat her like any of the other volunteers.â
Sheerah naturally understood that he didnât want his sister to chase after stars.
As a volunteer, Clare could do good work and get practical community experience, killing two birds with one stone. Chatting with Sheerah would just be a bonus.
Sheerah nodded quickly. âNo problem. The show naturally will need a lot of volunteers.â
Luke said with a smile, âDonât underestimate my little sister. Sheâs an excellent student at the police academy and has already started fieldwork in Los Angeles a few days ago.â
Sheerah also smiled. âI see it runs in the family.â
Luke took out a card and gave it to her. âThe song composer has already entrusted the related legal matters to this firm. If itâs for charity, there wonât be any additional conditions, and I wonât be involved.â
They stood up and shook hands.
Luke was about to let go, but Sheerah suddenly felt playful.
She pulled and hugged him, then pressed her cheek to his a little intimately in farewell. âSince weâre friends, donât be so formal. This isnât a business meeting.â
