Chapter 1007: Meeting Phil Again, and That Man Is Here
Luke was waiting for his first āacquaintance.ā
It wasnāt the God of Thunder, Thor, but Phil Coulson, who was dressed in the standard black suit.
Lukeās heart skipped a beat when he saw him.
This was the true leader of the extras.
Whenever he appeared in an important situation, his subordinate extras would die, sometimes all at once, and no one even remembered their faces.
Looking at the image the drone had sent of Phil making a call as he stood in front of the pit, Luke called Robert and told him to come back.
Robert returned in less than ten minutes. He had been in town the whole time and hadnāt gone far.
āWhat is it?ā he asked.
Luke pointed at the middle-aged man with a receding hairline on the screen. āPhil Coulson. I heard heās from the FBIās 17th Division.ā
He instantly noticed that when Robert saw Coulson on the screen, a surprised expression flashed across his face, but he quickly hid it.
āSomeone else you know?ā Luke asked casually.
Robert hesitated before he nodded. āSort of.ā
Thanks to his Mental Strength and multiple skills, Luke was quite good at reading people. He immediately knew that Robert didnāt want to talk about it.
But Robert definitely didnāt have a grudge against Phil; it was more like he was conflicted.
For someone as straightforward as Robert, this was very rare.
Luke had no intention of probing the relationship between the two. He simply said, āIāll go say hi to him, then.ā
Robert was stunned. āYou... know him?ā
Luke finally realized that something wasnāt right. Why couldnāt he know Coulson?
Flegg had been Robertās āstudent,ā and Robert hadnāt acted strangely about it.
Recalling his speculation about Phil a long time ago, Luke nodded calmly. āI do. I had a few special cases which I passed on to him and his colleagues in the end, so I informed him about this situation this time.ā
As soon as he said that, he realized that Robert felt even more conflicted. He couldnāt even hide it anymore.
He simply smiled and left.
Since Robert didnāt want him to know, Luke wasnāt interested in forcing Robert to tell him.
Just like how he had his own secrets, Robert definitely had his own guesses, but he only reminded Luke to be careful and not get too carried away.
As an adult, he naturally had a tacit understanding with Robert.
There was no need to expose family secrets, as it might embarrass everyone.
For example, when Robert was in high school, he had a thing with Mary, a police officer back then, and almost fell in love with her.
Luke hadnāt mentioned it at all.
That was because bringing up something like this would only affect the harmonious atmosphere in the family.
Looking at Lukeās back as he left, Robert finally couldnāt help but scratch his head. āWhat the hell... What should I do?ā
Even though he had a lot of work to do, he still took out his phone and called Catherine. āThat man is here. Heās probably here about the hammer, but Luke already knows him. They seem to be quite close...ā
Luke had already set off for the hill.
Twenty minutes later, he got out of the car and nodded at the middle-aged man. āItās been a while, Phil.ā
Phil was still in his black suit and tie. He looked like an insurance salesman.
He was only slightly surprised to see Luke. He walked over with a smile and stretched out his hand. āLong time no see, Luke.ā
Gripping his hand, Luke could sense a lot more things from the strength in Philās hand and his movements.
To put it simply, there was a big difference in how you shook hands when you were being polite or close to the other person.
Philās handshake... Hehe! Luke smiled bitterly.
āI came back for Christmas, but I ran into this thing,ā Luke said casually. āThe moment I saw it, I thought I should let you know.ā
Phil didnāt say that S.H.I.E.L.D. had actually discovered this situation yesterday, and he had rushed down overnight.
He simply smiled. āThank you for letting me know.ā
Luke patted his shoulder and let go of his hand at the same time. āIn any case, Iāve worked with you several times. I trust you.ā
Phil looked at him for a moment before he nodded slightly. He didnāt say anything else, but turned to look at the hammer. āWhat did you find?ā
Luke said, āItās constantly emitting electromagnetic radiation. Itās harmless, but I donāt think itās an ordinary item.ā
Phil hummed in acknowledgment. āWhat do you mean?ā
Luke said, āBecause I tried pulling it out as well. I even tried shaking it, but it didnāt even budge a millimeter. This thing should be similar to that invulnerable monster from last time; thereās something extraordinary about it.ā
Phil nodded as well.
Given the hammerās position, it was impossible for it to not even be shaken.
Also, if it was unimaginably heavy and couldnāt be moved, it would have crushed the earth below it first.
To put it simply, some of the phenomena caused by the hammer were contrary to the physics of Earth.
In Philās experience, he naturally knew that there was only one truth!
Luke knew what this ātruthā was as well.
Luke continued, āI found some information on this thing, so I think itās better to keep my family away from it.ā
Phil was stunned again. āInformation?ā
S.H.I.E.L.D. didnāt have any leads, but Luke claimed that he already had information?
Luke took out the Titanium phone and swiped a couple of times before he found a photo of the hammer. āSee this symbol? It suddenly appeared for an instant, then disappeared. Itās very strange.ā
Phil looked at it. āIs it a religious symbol?ā
Luke shook his head.
He swiped on his phone a few more times, and switched to another image.
Phil:
...Are you kidding me?
Because what Luke was showing him was basically similar to a chapter in a book of fairytales, with a story and a picture that was labeled: Thor, God of Thunder.
The same symbol ā three intersecting ovals ā was on the armor of the God of Thunder.
Phil couldnāt help but look at Luke. āAre you sure?ā
Lukeās expression was the same as ever as he put his phone away. āIām not sure. I was just looking for clues based on the pattern, but I canāt guarantee that the clues are reliable. After all, this is the first time Iāve seen a hammer like this.ā
Phil was lost for words.
In a situation with no leads, this was indeed the only thing they could do. It really couldnāt be said that Luke was being ridiculous.
Some major discoveries in intelligence work were made in this sort of ridiculous way ā even if they were 99.99% reliable, they were indeed outrageous.
