The super disguise could be considered the ability that Luke was least familiar with.
It was especially troublesome to adjust the various genetic traits of the human body.
In order to confirm that the Joker was Jack Bode, however, blood, hair and skin had to be left on camera.
SHIELD had long found where Jack Bode had stayed before, and it contained enough samples for comparison.
Superpowers that could transform someone at the genetic level were very rare in the world. The combat ability which the Joker displayed was similar to a physical buff.
Dual ability users were also rare, and the possibility that one of the abilities was to change genetic structure was practically zero.
This way, basically nobody would doubt the Jokerâs identity.
âAs for the two teams of special guests from SHIELD, the first team was made up of Hydra and extremely evil people, and one part of the second team was neutral.
âThe difference between the evil and neutral parties was huge.
Thus, when the game began, more people in the second team pressed the button, and they were faster.
âThere were even two low-ranking Hydra members in the second team who pressed the button, clearly to save their boss, a minor Hydra leader.
Unfortunately, the game itself was designed to determine who was more good and would survive.
âThere was a huge airbag under the chairs that could propel them out of the water in two minutes.
Even if the airbag malfunctioned, the Dark Knight, who had fallen into the water, would pull up the second team to avoid getting points deducted for killing neutral individuals.
âThe first team of special guests also had an airbag under their chairs, but they were doomed not to use it.
The two teams fell into the water at around the same time, but only death awaited the first team.
The restraints on their chairs ensured that they drank water until they died.
It wasnât until the system received the kill points that the Dark Knight fished them out.
In other words, the Dark Knight had only been putting on a show by pulling up the bodies of these 18 people and giving the impression that he was a âman of justice.â
The 18 of them had been worth over 24,000 points, and the lowest amount was still 700. That was over 1,000 points per person on average. They were indeed scum who had done too many bad things.
Luke hadnât lied.
He had indeed let the 18 people go. It was just that they couldnât get out of the metal chairs themselves, so they could only blame themselves for not being able to survive.
He raised his head and narrowed his eyes. Hands on Maxâs soft waist, Luke felt very comfortable.
The bad guys went to hell, the good guys were fine, and he had obtained points. Everything was under control.
Suddenly, his ears twitched, and he fixed Maxâs dress for her. âSomeoneâs here.â
Max opened her eyes. âWhere?â
Luke chuckled and turned her around so that she was sitting on his lap. âOn the other side of the road. Who would come from the river?â
Max leaned her head against his shoulder. âItâs the middle of the night. Who would be so free to come here?â
Luke glanced at the flashing red and blue lights. âItâs the cops.â
Max tensed. âHuh? Why didnât you say so earlier? Let me up.â
Luke hugged her and said, âDonât worry. Weâre clearly decent people.â
Maxâs eyes widened. âAre you sure the cops wonât be suspicious that Iâm dressed like this in the middle of the night?â
Luke said, âYour dress is worth two months of their pay. Why would they be suspicious?â
Maxâs lips moved, and she realized that it made sense.
In America, money was king.
There had been a lot of news reports of celebrities and rich heirs getting drunk, beating up people and getting arrested for drug abuse, but there had never been any mention of police violence against them.
For example, say that a young man in a Lamborghini was stopped.
As long as the man didnât take out a gun to fight back, what awaited him at most was handcuffs, and the patrol officersâ actions and words would all be by the book.
However, if a person in ordinary clothes and driving a secondhand car was stopped, even if his wife and children were in the car, he would be on the receiving end of a taser if he so much as moved wrong; he might even enjoy the sweet smell of gunpowder.
Lawyers and the law in America worked for the rich, or rather, for their money.
Patrol officers absolutely didnât have the guts to mess around with rich people. Lawyers could seize the opportunity to sue them until they lost their jobs and went bankrupt.
Thinking that, Max stopped struggling.
At most⊠they would go to the police station together for Valentineâs Day? Hm, that didnât seem very normal, but it was special enough.
Soon, a flashlight shone through the driverâs window, and there was the sound of fingers tapping on the glass.
Luke rolled down the window leisurely. âOfficer, can I help you?â
Misty frowned and lowered her gun. âWho are you? Why are you here at night?â
She looked at the âbreezyâ dress on Max and frowned even harder.
Luke smiled. âOfficer, do you have a boyfriend?â
Misty snorted. âAnswer my question, orâŠâ
Luke interrupted her with a smile. âBecause itâs February 13th. You know what I mean, right?â
The other patrol officer was standing behind Misty, his hand on the gun at his waist.
Looking at the situation in the car, he was full of envy as he interjected, âAre you celebrating Valentineâs Day in advance?â
He didnât think it was necessary to piss off a rich man over something like this.
âThey were just making out in a car by the river at night. They were much more particular than people who fooled around on a public beach in broad daylight.
Mistyâs eyes twitched.
âThe gift box that had clearly just been opened on the dashboard, the famous luxury brand logo on the box, the dress that the woman was wearing, and her colleagueâs reply â how could she not understand?
With a dark face, she said, âTell her to turn her head and say a couple of words. I want to know if sheâs conscious.â
Luke patted Maxâs shoulder. âDarling, come, say something.â
Max turned around angrily. âOfficer, Iâm fine. Of course, it would be even better if the window could be closed sooner.â
There had been no smell of alcohol or fumes after the window was rolled down. Maxâs face was slightly red, but she spoke clearly and she was obviously sound of mind. She definitely wasnât drunk or high.
Misty put her gun back into the holster. âNo matter how much youâre celebrating, itâs best if you donât stop here. There are a lot of cars on patrol tonight.â
She then left with her colleague.
After the patrol car drove off, Max heaved a long sigh and relaxed. She punched Luke in the chest. âThat scared me! I thought I would be spending the night in the detention center.â
Luke lay back with a smile. âYouâre overthinking it. Officer Misty is a woman, after all, and this wasnât about law and order on the streets. She wouldnât have arrested us.â
âMax paused. âHuh? Do you know her?â
Luke said, âHavenât you seen her on TV? Sheâs the NYPD police heroine who killed a test subject on her own and saved a mother and daughter.â
Stumped for a moment, Max was then a little embarrassed. She mumbled, âThat, werenât we too rude just now?â
Luke chuckled. âItâs fine. We didnât scold her.â
Max looked at him disdainfully. âDo you think Iâm an idiot? You mocked her just now for not having a boyfriend, right?â
Luke shrugged. âI was just stating a fact. Itâs not like I was wrong. Donât you always mock Caroline for not having a man? And sheâs your roommate to boot.â
Max:ââŠâ
