Chapter 1588 The Nature of Things, and on the Same Wavelength
Girls could suffer, but they couldnât become ugly.
No matter how tough they were, they still had to be pretty. That showed how important looks were.
Selina, on the other hand, had long listened in on the fight via Gold Nugget no. 1.
Now, as she sat on the couch and looked at the two little girls whose gazes collided every now and then, she couldnât help but turn her head and press it into her elbow as she shook and laughed. These two silly kids had no idea how cruel the adult world was!

Until now, they still didnât understand that the blow they had suffered today was definitely deliberate.
Otherwise, Luke wouldnât have allowed them to fight like this.
He could have easily stopped them with a few words, and they wouldnât have had the chance to fight each other.
Staring at Selina suspiciously, Claire couldnât help but draw closer. âSelina, what are you doing?â
Selina raised her head, the smile still on her face. âItâs nothing. I just thought of a funny soap opera.â
Claire asked, âReally? Which one?â
She felt that Selinaâs smile was related to her, but she had never acted in a soap opera before.
Selina said, âGossip Girl.â Claire frowned. âThat... doesnât seem like a comedy show, right?â
It was just a drama about scheming little b*tches plotting against each other. How twisted could you be to smile while watching it?
It was just like how some people could eat three portions of steak still oozing blood. It was completely abnormal.
Selina patted her head with a smile. âYour brother treats you really well. You have to thank God.â
She couldnât help but chuckle.
Puzzled, Claire left.
She was still a little in âaweâ of Selina.
This was the devil teacher who could press her to the ground and kick her butt. Even though Claire had the mysterious old man, it didnât change the outcome.
So, if Selina wouldnât say anything, there was nothing Claire could do. She returned to the group and chatted with them.
Claire and Mindy might have had a huge fight, but it conversely made them a lot closer.
This was subconscious behavior.
All five girls had extraordinary combat ability.
Although they werenât out of place when they interacted with ordinary people, there were a lot of things that couldnât be said out loud.
For example, Mindy and Claire couldnât talk casually outside about dealing with hooligans.
But peace was always fleeting.
After just a few words, they glared at each other again.
Because compared with Claireâs âbeating someone up and calling the police,â Mindyâs âbreaking both legs and throwing them into a dumpsterâ was too violent.
Claire said, âThat might cause trouble later. Thatâs not a proper way to handle things.â
Mindy snorted. âMy father is rich, and Iâm a minor.â
The girls were speechless. What an awesome reason.
Claire was unhappy. âThat doesnât give you the right to do whatever you want. The judge can still send you to juvie. Why would you bet on that chance?â
Mindy stared at her like she was an idiot.
Claire squirmed uncomfortably. âWhat? Did I say something wrong?â Mindy crossed her arms and glanced at her. âMy father is rich, and Iâm a minor. So, if I insist that they wanted to assault me, do you think the judge would send them to jail or come after me?â
The girls were lost for words. So, having money and being a minor wasnât for protecting herself, but for screwing other people over?
For a moment, the shortest person in the room seemed to exude a strong sense of tyranny.
This was someone with money and a black heart. Donât provoke her!
Even though Mindy had to tilt her head to look at Claire, it didnât affect her aura. âBesides, if Batman can fight, why canât I?â
Claire tried one last time. âBut youâre not Batman.â
Mindy curled her lip and didnât say anything else, but she gloated inwardly. How can I tell you that Batman is my teammate?
Listening to them, Selina couldnât help but slip into the kitchen to repeat the conversation to Luke.
Then, she asked, âDoesnât it feel like Mindyâs thinking is a little crooked?â
A small knife spun in Lukeâs hand as he handled the ingredients casually. Instantly, a few carrots were turned into cubes. âThatâs a reasonable use of her own resources and rules. It should be encouraged.â Selina: âHuh?â
âIt depends on the nature of things.â Luke picked up a celery stalk, and the knife flew again. âIt depends on how the situation develops. The hooligans indeed wonât go easy on her as a minor to begin with, so thereâs nothing wrong with her launching a counterattack. Secondly, her father is rich. Whatâs wrong with spending money to put hooligans in jail?â
Selina chuckled. âYouâre really good at finding a balance. Arenât you afraid that sheâll be traumatized?â
Putting the chopped parsley aside, Luke picked up an onion, and the knife flashed again. âMindy looked for her dad to clean up the mess. Claire has us. In essence, thereâs not much difference between their choices. Even if Claire hadnât done anything back then, hooligans like that would still get their three limbs broken in the end.â
Selina was silent for a moment before she nodded. âSure enough, rich people do things simply.â
Luke nodded and said, âSo, you need to learn how to use money to deal with some of the trifles.â
Selina looked at him strangely. âDidnât I give you full authority to handle all of that?â.
Luke paused, turned around, and stared at her for a moment before he slowly nodded. âYouâre 30% as good as I am. Keep working hard.â
âHehe, really?â Selina was delighted. âIt feels great to pass the buck.â
Luke chuckled.
In any case, he could always delegate things to someone else with one phone call.
There were always a lot of employees in this world who wanted to make money.
They had a BBQ on the roof, and the girls ate to their heartsâ content.
However, given that Monica and Claire had to drive and couldnât drink, Luke refused to give everyone beer. That was the only downside.
Claire tried sneaking Lukeâs beer out of his hand, but failed.
This gathering was much more relaxing than other activities the girls had participated in.
Even Stacy was infected by everyoneâs mood and didnât look as wary as ever. Claire and Mindy still snarked at each other every now and then, but everybody could tell that they werenât enemies, but were actually on the same wavelength.
Both of them were straightforward.
Mindy was a little obnoxious, but not to the point of being repulsive; she was just a little eccentric at most.
Mindy left Claire dumbstruck again and again, but with Gold Nugget no. 2 offering a different perspective, Claire figured a lot of things out.
The party ended at half past eight, and Nikki and Monica drove home.
Mindy, on the other hand, got into Claireâs car.
Claireâs house was only a few hundred meters away from Mindyâs, and it was on the way.
After the two cars left, Luke shook his head with a smile. âIâll let you two off for a few days.â
