Candice Tate had eaten too much and couldnāt take another bite. All she could do was watch Sierra Sullivan eat with longing eyes.
"Is it good, Sierra?"
Sierra Sullivan nodded. "Of course, itās delicious!"
Candice Tate didnāt say anything, but she gulped.
Her pitiful, longing expression made Sierra Sullivanās heart melt. "Itās okay. Thereās plenty left. You can eat more tomorrow!"
Candice Tate nodded. "Okay!"
As Candice Tate spoke, she could barely keep her eyes open.
It was clearly exhaustion from overusing her Superpower. Only a good nightās sleep would allow her to recover.
"Candice, let me take you to get washed up. After that, you should get some rest. We can talk about everything else tomorrow."
Candice Tate rubbed her eyes, obediently got to her feet, and followed Sierra Sullivan to the bathroom.
They were both extremely careful, afraid of accidentally stepping on the fruits and vegetables scattered on the floor.
Candice Tate was truly exhausted. The moment she lay down on the bed, she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
Seeing that Candice Tate was breathing evenly and already fast asleep, Sierra Sullivan finally closed the door and quietly slipped out.
As soon as she returned to the living room, she saw Jayce stuffing fruit into his mouth.
Even though he had been eating nonstop, Jayceās eyes were filled with a desperate hunger, a clear sign that he still wasnāt full.
He looked especially pathetic when he saw Sierra.
"Sierra! Youāre finally out! Iām so hungry!"
Jayce had large, round eyes. As he stared at her now, full of longing, he looked inexplicably pitiful.
Seeing Jayce like this, Sierra Sullivan felt her heart melt.
"What do you want to eat?"
"Anything! As long as thereās something to eat, Iāll take it!"
At this point, Jayce wasnāt being picky. As long as there was food, it didnāt really matter what it was.
Hearing this, Sierra Sullivan said no more. She simply took out a variety of cooked dishes from her space, once again covering the table with food.
In truth, she hadnāt eaten her fill either.
The two of them sat at the table without saying much, completely focused on eating, one bite after another.
Their eyes held no other thoughts, only a craving for and reverence of the food before them.
They didnāt stop until they had finished every last dish on the table.
Sierra Sullivan looked at Jayce again. "How about it? Are you full?"
Jayce rubbed his stomach. "Iām full!"
He then let out a long sigh of relief.
āThis time, Iām really full!ā
"It feels so good to be full!" Jayce sighed with contentment.
Oneās Superpower could be replenished with Crystal Cores.
But even after oneās Superpower was restored, there was still a sense that something was missing.
Only after eating and drinking to oneās heartās content did that feeling of emptiness finally dissipate.
Sierra Sullivan had experienced this feeling before, so she understood where Jayce was coming from.
"I wonder how other Superpower Users deal with this feeling," Sierra Sullivan said with a sigh.
Not every Superpower User was like her, with a personal dimension and an endless supply of provisions.
Seeing the worry on Sierraās face, Jayce took her hand. "Donāt overthink it. They arenāt your responsibility."
"I know."
Sierra Sullivan offered a small smile.
āBut knowing it is one thing. Actually internalizing it is another.ā
āItās not that Iām some kind of Saint Mother. Itās just... an indescribable feeling.ā
āPerhaps itās because weāre all Superpower Users, all survivors, that I feel this way.ā
"Youāre just too kind, Sierra! But being kind isnāt a flaw."
At his words, Sierraās smile grew brighter. "Of course I know being kind isnāt a flaw."
āWhen youāre strong enough, kindness is an excellent quality. How could it possibly be a flaw?ā
āItās only when you lack the strength to back it up that kindness can seem like a mistake.ā
āThe kindness of the weak can neither help others nor protect oneself.ā
Jayce checked the time. "Itās still early. Iāll go into the space to cook. You should get washed up and lie down for a bit."
Sierra Sullivan shook her head. "Iām too full to sleep right now. Iāll go with you."
āI had originally bought a lot of pre-cooked meals, thinking they would last a long time.ā
āBut plans never keep up with reality.ā
āNow, both of our appetites are growing, and they might get even bigger in the future.ā
āAnd then thereās Candice Tate, who has a huge appetite too.ā
āThe pre-cooked food Iād prepared before is starting to look insufficient.ā
āWe should take advantage of the time tonight to make more, so we arenāt scrambling when itās time to eat.ā
The two of them first returned to their room, locked the door from the inside, and then entered the space together.
Everything inside the space was just as it had been.
The only difference was that the various fruits and vegetables planted in the fields had all ripened. The sight of the bountiful harvest was delightful.
Jayce took one look and said, "Iāll cook. You can go harvest all of this."
Only after they were harvested could they plant the next crop, and only then would the fruit trees bear fruit again.
If they werenāt picked, no new fruit would grow, which would be a waste.
Sierra Sullivan agreed and nodded.
They divided the labor and worked together, making quick progress.
The fruit trees didnāt need any attention. After all the vegetables in the fields were harvested, Sierra Sullivan went to find Jayce.
"We have plenty of vegetables now. I was thinking we could plant potatoes and sweet potatoes in all the empty plots. What do you think?"
Sierra only had to say that one sentence for Jayce to immediately understand what she was thinking.
Looking at Sierra before him, Jayce felt his heart soften in an instant.
āHow can my Sierra be so wonderful!ā
āHow did I get so lucky to have a Sierra this wonderful!ā
When Jayce didnāt reply, Sierra found it a bit odd. "Whatās wrong? Do you have another idea?"
Jayce shook his head repeatedly. "No! I donāt have any other ideas! I think itās a great idea. Weāll do it your way! Iāll just get the meat stewing, and then Iāll join you."
"Okay!"
Potatoes and sweet potatoes were quite easy to plant.
Taking advantage of the time, Sierra Sullivan took out a good number of potatoes and sweet potatoes, cut them into small pieces, and mixed them into the wood ash she had prepared earlier.
She made sure every little piece was completely coated in the ash.
Normally, the next step would be to let them sprout.
āBut this was the space!ā
āEverything inside it defied common sense.ā
āEven without sprouting them first, as long as they were planted in the soil, they would grow just fine without any issues.ā
āEven the yield and quality would be incomparable to anything grown outside.ā
The most difficult part was the planting itself.
After all, it involved tilling the soil and digging row after row of furrows.
But for Sierra and Jayce in their current state, it was more of a hassle than truly tiring.
The two even used their Superpowers to help.
To make things faster and easier, they had experimented with all sorts of applications for their Superpowers. The results were, of course, remarkable.
Before the meat had even finished stewing, the two of them had already planted all the potatoes and sweet potatoes.
