It turned out Nathan Thorne could be reliable sometimes.
Two hours later, just as dusk was settling, the mother and daughter were brought over.
When they arrived, the woman wore a tense expression, clearly not knowing what was happening.
In contrast to her mother, the little girl showed no fear. Her unusually large eyes curiously took in everything around them.
Before they even got close, the little girl spotted Sierra Sullivan and immediately raised her hand, waving. "Miss!"
Sierra looked over at the little girl and waved back. "Youâre here!"
In the time it took to speak, the little girl was standing right in front of her.
"Miss, were you the one who asked for us?" the little girl asked, her big eyes blinking with curiosity.
Sierra nodded. "Yes. You helped me before, and I want to thank you."
Before the girl could reply, Sierra turned to Nathan Thorne.
"Could I trouble you to arrange a place for them to stay? It doesnât matter if the room is small; a single room will do. Iâll provide some supplies for them."
"No need," Nathan refused outright. "I can arrange a small room. You donât need to give me anything for it. If you really want to give something, just give it to them directly!"
Hearing this, Sierra raised an eyebrow but didnât bother with false pleasantries.
Just as Nathan himself said, arranging a place for the mother and daughter was a simple matter for him, requiring only a word.
In a base this large, with so many rooms, how could arranging a place for the two of them be a big deal?
Haggling over it would just make her look petty.
Listening to their conversation, the woman finally understood why she and her daughter had been brought over.
A whirlwind of emotions washed over her.
Before, she had thought her daughter was too talkative.
But now, just because of those few extra words from her daughter, the two of them could have their own private room!
What did that even mean in these times?
In the current environment, just being able to squeeze into a room with other people was already considered incredibly lucky. At least it was a room.
And yet, not only were they getting a room, but it was a private room, and Sierra was even going to give them extra supplies.
Although she didnât know who Sierra was or how much she would give, the woman understood in her heart that the amount would definitely not be small.
If it were just a few dozen pounds of food, a person like that probably wouldnât even bother to mention it.
The womanâs expression grew excited, her cheeks flushing as she rubbed her hands together nonstop.
"This... How could we possibly accept this! Thank you so much! Thank you!"
Seeing the womanâs excited, nervous, hopeful, yet constrained demeanor, Sierra was also at a loss for words.
Both in the past and now, Sierra had never been fond of scenes like this.
She preferred people to be direct and skip the unnecessary pleasantries.
Sierra directly retrieved a pile of supplies from her space.
Ten twenty-pound, vacuum-sealed bags of rice.
Ten twenty-pound bags of flour.
Ten boxes of dried noodles.
Ten boxes of instant noodles, and ten boxes of compressed biscuits.
There were also ten cases of mineral water.
In addition, there were various other things like cooking oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, Lao Gan Ma chili sauce, and hot pot bases, all in varying quantities.
Thinking that a little girl would probably like sweets, Sierra also took out a large box and filled it with all sorts of candy and chocolate.
Sierraâs series of actions, like a magic trick, stunned everyone present.
The womanâs face grew even redder, and her breathing became heavy.
"This... this is too much..."
Although she desperately wanted it, she also knew her own worth.
The few words her daughter had said simply didnât warrant such a huge reward!
If other people saw all this stuff, they would covet it!
How could a mother and daughter like them possibly protect it all?
It wasnât that she didnât want it; it was that she knew her own limits and didnât dare to take it.
Sierra looked at the woman. "Donât worry. Mr. Thorne will make the arrangements. No one will dare to get any ideas. Right, Mr. Thorne?"
Nathan Thorne was also still in shock. He snapped out of it when he heard Sierraâs words and looked at her with a complicated expression.
He knew Sierra was a Space Ability User and that she definitely wasnât short on supplies.
But to take out so many supplies at once for a mother and daughter sheâd only just met a few hours ago... wasnât that a bit much?
Before, he had thought Sierra was arrogant, cold, and aloofâextremely difficult to get along with.
But now, it seemed he had misunderstood?
This wasnât someone who was difficult to get along with!
This was clearly a huge idiot!
âNo!â
âWhat was that word again... Saint Mother!â
âRight!â
âThatâs it, a Saint Mother!â
Nathan Thorne didnât speak, just kept staring at her. Sierra wasnât a fool; of course she noticed.
It was just that Nathanâs gaze made her feel a little strange.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Is something wrong with me?"
Nathan looked at Sierra, his expression saying a thousand words, but in the end, he just shook his head. "Itâs nothing. Iâll have my people arrange it."
With that, Nathan called a few people over and started giving them instructions.
Hearing Nathan make the arrangements, the woman finally breathed a small sigh of relief.
This was indeed a lot of stuff for a mother and daughter, but for someone like Nathan Thorne, it surely wasnât much.
With Nathanâs arrangements in place, no one would be foolish enough to bully them. With that, her mind was at ease.
"Thank you!" the woman said to Sierra again, and of course, she didnât forget Nathan. "And thank you, Mr. Thorne."
"Donât thank me," Nathan immediately refused. "I didnât do anything."
âI have no interest in being a Saint Father!â
âI donât need this kind of thanks!â
The woman didnât know what Nathan was thinking, but seeing his unpleasant expression, she didnât dare say anything more.
"Letâs go," the woman said, tugging her daughterâs hand.
When the girl heard they were leaving, a panicked look immediately appeared on her little face.
She didnât want to go!
If she could, she wanted to stay by this Missâs side forever.
"I..."
The little girl wanted to speak.
But she had only said one word when she saw Sierra look over.
Sierraâs expression was faint and indifferent, but under that gaze, the words that were on the tip of the little girlâs tongue simply wouldnât come out.
Seeing her fall silent, Sierra raised an eyebrow. "What is it? Is there something else you want?"
"No, not at all!" the woman said hurriedly, pulling her daughterâs arm. "What are you spacing out for? Say thank you, and letâs go! They have important things to do, we shouldnât be bothering them."
"I know!" The girl lowered her head. "Thank you, Miss. Goodbye!"
