In just a short time, Mo Jingchun was shivering from the cold.
Compared to snow, freezing rain is truly cold!
Mo Jingchun decided that after having an early New Yearâs Eve dinner at Uncleâs place, he would light up the fire pit as well.
In this terrible weather, the air conditioner hardly works.
What worried Mo Jingchun more was whether the power lines would be hit by trees weighed down by snow and freezing rain.
If the power goes out, that would be quite uncomfortable.
The heavy snow in â08 is still fresh in Mo Jingchunâs memory.
In other places, Mo Jingchun wasnât sure, but Mo Family Village was without electricity for almost two months back then.
Casually closing the main door, Mo Jingchun shuddered all over.
"Luckily, I watched the weather forecast and bought quite a lot of groceries yesterday."
"Otherwise, Iâd be living off the cold northwest wind."
Although dinner was supposed to be at nine, Mo Jingchun checked the time; it was just past eight.
Candy hadnât woken up yet, her head buried, sleeping in bed.
Plus, with weather this cold, Mo Jingchun didnât need to ask to predict that the little one wouldnât be getting up anytime soon.
With nothing pressing at the moment, Mo Jingchun boiled a kettle of water.
Then, he started preparing lunch for New Yearâs Eve dinner.
All kinds of ingredients, everything that needed preparation was prepared.
This way, after returning from dinner, there would be no need to scramble.
In the kitchen, Mo Jingchun was busy with excitement, while upstairs in the bedroom, Candy was sound asleep with her cute little bottom sticking up.
"I habitually keep a bottle of boredom in my bag
"
"To pass the fleeting clouds and fleeting dogs of the mortal world..."
"Hello? Auntie."
"Xiaochun, the meal is ready. Come down to eat with Candy."
"The road outside is all frozen, walk slowly with Candy."
"Especially by the river, be extra careful, donât slip into the river."
"I got it, Auntie."
Mo Jingchun, who hung up the phone, felt warm inside and no longer felt cold in his hands.
Removing the firewood from the stove, Mo Jingchun went upstairs to wake Candy.
Ten or so minutes later, Mo Jingchun held Candyâs hand, carefully walking on the ice.
On such roads, Mo Jingchun didnât dare carry Candy; it was too dangerous.
When they reached Uncleâs courtyard, Mo Jingchun noticed that the entrance had already been decorated with red couplets.
"Happy New Year!" Candy was as adorable as ever.
The New Yearâs Eve dinner was as sumptuous as usual.
Just six hotpots occupied half the table space.
The side dishes beside them were so plentiful, there wasnât a spare gap in between.
"Xiaochun, have a drink too?"
"Itâs not like youâre in school anymore."
Uncle, holding a bottle of white liquor, said with a smile.
Looking at the white liquor, Mo Jingchun shook his head; drinking it gave him a terrible headache.
"No thanks, Uncle."
"After eating, I still have to go back and start the fire and cook."
"Iâll just have some soda."
In the afternoon, taking advantage of the slight thaw from the warm weather, Mo Jingchun, after saying a word to Candy, grabbed a shovel and cleared a path on the asphalt road.
Mo Jingchun, sweating profusely from shoveling ice, felt extremely hot.
At that moment, Candy came out of the house, shrinking her head, and stood by the courtyard shouting:
"Brother, how much longer?"
Mo Jingchun looked at the remaining distance, roughly estimated it, and smiled:
"Guoguo, go back and watch Peppa Pig for a bit; brother will be back soon."
"Okay?"
Hearing this, Candy pouted a bit, looking a bit aggrieved:
"Alright then."
"But brother, you have to be quick."
"Otherwise, Guoguo might just fall asleep."
"Okay!"
In less than ten minutes, a sweaty Mo Jingchun returned.
In the living room, Candy was cuddling the fluffy Bun, forcing Bun to watch Peppa Pig with her.
And Candy was now continuously squinting her eyes.
It seemed that if Mo Jingchun had been a few minutes later, Candy might have fallen asleep on the sofa.
"Guoguo."
"Mmď˝"
"Brother, youâre back."
"Mmm hm, Guoguo wants to sleep, right?"
"Yeah."
In the bedroom, after watching Candy fall asleep, Mo Jingchun grabbed Bun and stepped out of the room, gently closing the door behind him.
In just that short time, Mo Jingchunâs sweat had already dried.
Originally, Mo Jingchun was thinking about taking a hot bath, but now...
Mo Jingchun didnât feel like it anymore; itâs better to wait until evening!
It wasnât dark yet, but every household had turned on all their lights.
At this time, no matter how much electricity they saved usually, they unreservedly turned on all the lights.
Mo Jingchun was no exception; every light in all three stories, both inside and outside the house, was turned on.
At first, Mo Jingchun worried about a power outage, but the national power grid was impressively reliable.
The on-duty staff were working hard, continuously inspecting the lines to ensure each householdâs electricity supply was guaranteed.
In the evening, Candy occasionally yawned while staying up late with Mo Jingchun.
If it werenât for waiting to set off fireworks, the little one would have already fallen asleep.
"Brother, how much longer?"
"Guoguo is so sleepy, really wants to sleep."
Mo Jingchun checked the time on his phone, it was 11:47 PM.
In thirteen minutes, it would be the new year.
"Almost, almost, just thirteen more minutes, and itâs New Year."
Candy scratched her ears and nodded.
Ten minutes later, Candy stood at the door, watching her brother busily carry two especially large fireworks into the yard.
At this time, it started snowing again.
But this snowy weather did nothing to dampen everyoneâs anticipation for the New Year.
In the new year, everyone wished for smooth sailing.
In the ice and snow, Mo Jingchun waited, waiting for Uncleâs family to set off fireworks first before lighting his own.
Upon crossing into the new year, the new yearâs bell rang.
From all directions around, flashes of light first appeared, followed by the sound of fireworks a few seconds later.
Shortly after, nearby at Uncleâs place, a sharp sound followed by a burst of light emerged.
With a bang, a huge tri-colored firework instantly illuminated the surroundings.
Just as the light was about to fade, another firework shot into the sky.
Seeing this, Mo Jingchun didnât hesitate to light his first big firework.
Whooshď˝ď˝ď˝
Bangď˝
The fireworks at Uncleâs place only illuminated the surrounding outlines.
But the fireworks Mo Jingchun set off brightened up the entire sky.
Making it seem as if the day had already broken.
"Wow!"
Candy, who wanted to sleep earlier, was instantly awakened by the sight of the beautiful fireworks.
Just as the first firework was nearly about to finish, Mo Jingchun moved forward to light the second one.
Then he stood beside Candy, accompanying her to watch each beautiful firework bloom.
Even though the air was now filled with the scent of sulfur.
But Mo Jingchun and Candy didnât mind it.
Amidst the sound of firecrackers, one year departs, and the spring breeze brings warmth into the houses.
With thousands of doors and windows facing the sun, they always replace the old charms with new ones.
The new year is here, can spring be far behind?
