Chapter 879: Chapter 879: Show Us the Heating Pack
The villagers were not content, but Fan Zhong directly had someone close the gate to the Lu familyās courtyard.
For a moment, aside from the Lu family members, only Fan Zhong and a few respected elders of the village remained inside the yard.
Fan Zhong looked at Lu Erbai with both envy and jealousy, but he also admired him quite a bit.
Having his daughter lost for over a decade and exiled to the southwest, he actually managed to take his whole family to follow after her; this was something Fan Zhong admitted he could not do.
Outside the gate, the voices of the villagers could still be heard, clearly reluctant to leave.
Initially, Fan Zhong had thought of inviting the Lu family over to his place to sit for a while and have some tea since they hadnāt tidied up yet, but now it seemed better not to.
He walked up to Shu Yu with a big grin and offered her some dry congratulations.
Shu Yu politely replied, "Thank you, Village Chief. Itās just my luck. Please have a seat first; Iāll go boil some water so everyone can drink and chat."
After all, even Xiang Weinan didnāt get a sip of water during his visit, which was rather pitiable.
The clay pot had already been washed, and Shu Yu was about to go to the kitchen, but after she took just one step, a figure darted out in front of her, "Yu, you are a Village Chief now, thereās no need for you to boil waterāthatās something Eldest Aunt can do."
It was actually Madam Li.
As soon as Madam Liang saw her, a sense of crisis surged within her, and she rushed over quickly to snatch the clay pot back.
"Why are you butting in? Didnāt you blame Yu for causing you trouble and thinking of divorcing your Eldest Uncle before? Now youāre all eager to help."
Madam Liās expression froze, and as she opened her mouth to retort, she realized she was not like Madam Liang. This woman knew about Shu Yuās situation from the start yet never thought of breaking ties with the second branch of the family.
Even when faced with Madam Liang, she lacked confidence.
Madam Liang was smug, "From now on, stay away from Yu. Really, when it smells like shit, you stay far away, but when itās time to use it as fertilizer, you come running. Have you no shame?"
Shu Yu, "..." Holy shit, Iām begging you to stop talking.
She silently looked at Madam Liang, and the old lady stepped forward and slapped her on the back, "Who are you talking about?"
Madam Liang suddenly realized that her description might have been problematic, and with a forced laugh, she turned her head and explained, "Yu, I wasnāt talking about you. I, Iāll slap my own mouth."
After slapping her mouth a couple of times, she wasnāt careful, and Madam Li took the clay pot from her again.
Madam Liang was furious, "Sister-in-law, are you looking for a fight?"
The old lady rolled her eyes, "Thatās enough. You two think thereās not enough work at home, huh? We need people for boiling water, wiping tables, and sweeping the floor. Each one of you do something, quickly."
She glanced at Madam Li with extreme dissatisfaction.
But with so many outsiders still in the house, now was not the time to settle accounts. She would remember it for later.
Once the old lady spoke up, everyone immediately got busy.
Fan Zhong scratched his head, feeling like he should help out at this time, but there were plenty of people from the Lu family, and the house was so small that he could only stay put and talk to Lu Erbai.
It was Lu Sanzhu, though, who dashed eagerly over to Shu Yu, "Yu, that thing, the Heating Pack, did you bring it? Let me have a look, please."
Of course there was no problem with just looking; she wasnāt using it to make a profit.
"Sure, if youāre curious, come in and take a look."
Shu Yu walked over to where the packages were stacked and took out a small bag.
The Heating Pack was just a small package that didnāt seem extraordinary from the outside.
Fan Zhong took a couple of looks, "So this is the Heating Pack? What exactly is it for?"
