Zaglurâs lips twitched when he heard Simon calling him poor, and he had the urge to strangle Simon to death.
Insulting a Daegrinâs wealth was a big blow to their pride, and what hurt Zaglur the most was that Simon was right in a way.
Obtaining the Devourerâs Essence had cost him so much money, about 90% of his total assets.
He could not refute Simonâs words that he was poor, and he could not kill Simon for his insolence because Simon was just too valuable to be killed.
If Simon died, he could still extract the Devourerâs blood essence from his corpse, but it would be mixed with Simonâs original Lesser Grade bloodline, thereby reducing the profit he should receive.
âBrat.â Zaglur clicked his tongue in annoyance, but he said nothing.
Simon rolled his eyes.
âGuess I was right. He is poor... Well... Poor for a Daegrin. Iâm worth less than a church mouse compared to him.â
Simon released a soft sigh, then he took another look around him as they walked.
âHopefully we wonât have to trek for days since Iâm still a hungry demon kid who has not awakened his demon heart.â
Simon sighed inwardly, then he asked another question a few seconds later.
"Since you donât want to tell me about our destination, can you at least tell me about the Devourerâs blood essence? What is a Devourer? Iâve never heard of a demon called the Devourer."
Zaglur remained silent as he walked, and just as Simon was about to release a frustrated sigh, Zaglur spoke.
"I donât know much about Devourers, but what I do know is that Devourers are one of the most ancient of demons. They date all the way back to tens of thousands of years in the past."
"From what I discovered, they were amongst the ancient demons who fought in the first ever Great War between good and evil."
Simon furrowed his brows slightly in confusion.
"The first ever Great War between good and evil?"
Zaglur nodded.
"Yes. Many demons nowadays only know of two Great Wars... The First Great War between the Hero of Earth and the sole Demon King of the Demon Realm."
Simonâs eyes flickered.
"And then the Second Great War between Earth and the Demon Realm. But for demons like me who have more information compared to the masses, we call the Second Great War the Great War of Demon Princes and Earthâs Demi-Gods."
Simon looked at Zaglur in confusion.
"The Demon Princes and Earthâs Demi-Gods? I thought only the Hero of Earth was a Demi-God? There were more Demi-Gods on Earth?"
Zaglur looked at Simon with surprise evident in his eyes.
"And how do you know that? You live in the Wildlands, and information is known to never reach you. Your tribe doesnât even have a library, books, or a source of knowledge and information."
Despite the fact that all Zaglur said was true, Simonâs expression remained calm and his gaze did not so much as ripple.
"One of the old demons used to tell me and the other kids fairy tales and stories." Simon lied with a straight face.
Zaglur still looked at Simon suspiciously, but then he let it go and answered Simonâs question.
"Youâre right. Back when the Hero of Earth and The Demon King of Death were the rulers of Earth and the Demon Realm, they were the only two Demi-Gods present. The demon princes and the Heroâs subordinates were all below the Demi-God realm."
"But after the death of the Demon King of Death and the death of the Hero, there was a strange period of peace as both the Demon Realm and Earth decided to recuperate from their losses."
"I obviously donât know the intricate details, but I know that there were only minor battles and skirmishes. There was no major war until three hundred years later."
âThree hundred years?â Simonâs eyes widened slightly.
"Three hundred years after the death of the Hero, the Second Great War began, and the demon princes, the demon princesses, and the subordinates of the Hero were all Demi-Gods."
"There was another Great War, and many fell. From eighteen Demon Princes, we had only six after the Great War. And for those humans, I heard they lost about seven Demi-Gods, but the main Demi-Gods, the main subordinates of the Hero did not die. All six of them, they all lived due to the help of those disgusting gods."
Zaglur scowled and spat on the ground in disgust the moment he mentioned the word âgods.â
Meanwhile, Simonâs mind was in chaos as he was slightly overwhelmed by what he just heard.
âThirteen Demi-Gods? Earth had thirteen Demi-Gods after my death, and all my past friends also became Demi-Gods. Not only that, the Demon Realm had eighteen Demi-Gods?!â
âHow could Earth or the Demon Realm handle a war of eighteen Demi-Gods. Maybe the Demon Realm could, but I doubt they fought in the Demon Realm because the power of a Demi-God is enough to utterly ruin a continent of Earth.â
âI know just how terrifying it was to fight the Demon King of Death in the demon realm. Despite the fact that the Demon King of Death was stronger in the demon realm, I had to fight him here because fighting him on Earth would lead to so many deaths of humans. It would be like an apocalypse all over again.â
âBut the second Great War consisted of over thirty Demi-Gods? How could the gods have allowed such a thing to happen? How could they have allowed the demons to have eighteen Demi-Gods? What the hell happened after I died?!â
"Right now, seven hundred years have passed after the Second Great War, making it over a thousand years after the First Great War."
"The bridges between Earth and the Demon Realm still exist, and unlike the time of the Demon King of Death and the Hero, now we have six demon kings who are Demi-Gods."
"But the humans still have more Demi-Gods due to the support of the damned Gods. Every demon is waiting for the next Demi-God, and every demon hopes that the six demon kings can become gods, but thatâs just wishful thinking on my own part."
Zaglur clicked his tongue in frustration and disappointment as he spoke, but Simonâs mind was on something else entirely.
âA thousand years? I reincarnated a thousand years after my death?â
