While Merath and Jorra spoke about ways to kill Simon and his backstory, Simon himself had an indifferent expression as he walked to his next class.
As he walked, Lilith walked beside him with her hands behind her back. She was curiously looking around, observing things that baffled Simon.
Approximately five minutes later, Simon asked a question.
"Hey, Lilith."
"Hmm?" Lilith answered while observing a duel between two Year Two Initiates.
Simon glanced at the duel, but he lost interest the moment he saw it.
"How do I kill the Lie Eater?"
Lilith shifted her gaze from the duel to Simon. "Youâre bothered about the Lie Eater that much?" She asked with a slightly teasing tone.
Simon rolled his eyes. "As long as that cursed spirit is there, I have to be very careful with what I say. I have to kill it."
He glanced at Lilith. "How does one kill cursed spirits?"
Lilithâs curled up slightly. "Hmm. I see."
Simon frowned behind his mask. "What?"
Lilith chuckled softly. "Since you donât know about cursed spirits, it means you are not a Daemon from my time or maybe even a Daemon at all."
Simonâs expression changed slightly.
Lilithâs lips curled up the more as she could see Simonâs face despite his mask.
"Since youâre not a Daemon from my time or a Daemon at all, then youâre an old demon. Iâm one step closer to your true identity, Blackmoon."
âUnfortunately, youâre not, Lilith. Youâre still so far away from guessing my true identity.â
Although Simon had this thought, he obviously didnât say it out loud.
"I donât have time for games, Lilith. Tell me how to kill Cursed Spirits."
Lilith rolled her eyes and said amusedly. "You really do have a thick skin."
Simon was about to speak, but Lilith nonchalantly waved her left hand.
"Iâve heard you. Iâve heard you... Such an impatient fellow."
Lilith clicked her tongue, then she began to explain.
"Cursed spirits are malignant entities formed from concentrated negative emotions such as hatred, resentment, terror, despair, and obsession. When these emotions accumulate in a place for long enough, they begin to stain the spiritual plane of the world."
"Over time, that stain gains shape and consciousness. When it finally becomes self-aware, a Cursed Spirit is born."
"These spirits are not demons, humans, or ghosts. They are manifestations of emotional corruption, and not everybody has the ability to see them or interact with them."
Simon listened attentively to Lilithâs explanation since this was something he didnât know.
He knew about ghosts, and he had fought some ghosts in his past life, but Cursed Spirits were just vastly different.
One could not see ghosts with their ordinary eyes, but if a demon knew how to use their demonic energy or a human knew how to use their aether to strengthen their eyes, they would be able to see ghosts.
Simon knew that he could see ghosts with his Sky Eye, but he could not see Cursed Spirits.
Cursed Spirits were far more difficult to see than ghosts.
Cursed Spirits also had a more bizarre appearance compared to ghosts.
"Cursed Spirits are rare and not easy to encounter, but if you go to places where tragedies occur repeatedly, you might encounter some cursed spirits."
"For example, if you go to battlefields, prisons, massacre sites, and even some places that have been cursed by powerful individuals."
Simon was instantly baffled by this statement.
"There are many battlefields in the demon realm, but I have never heard of a cursed spirit affecting a battlefield."
Lilith shook her head. "How would you know if a cursed spirit is affecting a battlefield or a place if you canât see it. You might notice some strange things happening, but if you canât see whatâs causing it, would you know that itâs a cursed spirit."
"And well... Itâs actually far more difficult for cursed spirits to be born in the demon realm compared to Earth."
Simon raised a brow in curiosity. "Why?"
"Because of demonic energy."
"Compared to aether, demonic energy is far more violent, destructive, and domineering. Because of its nature, cursed spirits are usually overwhelmed by the demonic energy of the demon realm."
"Any cursed spirit thatâs born in the demon realm is usually far more powerful than a cursed spirit thatâs born on earth, but funny enough, theyâre more vulnerable to aether attacks."
"Itâs the same thing for cursed spirits born on earth. Theyâre far more vulnerable to demonic energy attacks than aether attacks."
Despite hearing this, Simon had a deep frown on his face as he was lost in his thoughts.
âIf itâs easier for cursed spirits to be born on earth than the demon realm, how come I never encountered one on earth... Or were there cursed spirits on earth, but because I didnât have the ability to see them, I didnât know about them?â
Simonâs eyes suddenly widened in realization, and he had to ask Lilith a question.
"Lilith."
He called out to her, and she looked at him.
"Yes?"
"From what youâre saying, a demon can use their demonic energy to kill a cursed spirit and a human can use their aether to kill a cursed spirit, right?"
Lilith nodded. "Yes. But youâll have to use far more demonic energy or aether than normal to kill a cursed spirit compared to a demon or human."
"Humans and demons are in the physical plan of the world, and if you want to harm a cursed spirit, youâll need to expend more demonic energy to cross into the spiritual plane. Thatâs the main reason why youâll need more demonic energy to kill a cursed spirit than a demon or human."
Simon nodded in understanding. With his knowledge and experience, he understood this aspect. But this was not his main question.
"There are humans on earth called priests. They are like-"
Lilith cut him off.
"I know who priests are. Iâm not ignorant."
Simon nodded nonchalantly. "Can priests kill or... exorcise cursed spirits using a different method?"
"Hmm. So you even know the fanciful term those fools call killing of cursed spirits."
Lilith scoffed in disdain.
"Yeah. Priests can kill or like they call it... exorcise cursed spirits by binding the cursed spirits into their bodies."
