Simon thought of ways to avoid paying for Sunlessā food, but no matter what he did.
Whether it was lying that he had something urgent to do, or that he was injured, or that he was even broke.
None of it worked.
Sunless was having none of it.
She did not allow him to escape fulfilling his side of the agreement.
What made Simon to have a gloomy expression is that this time around, Sunless did not want them to eat at the school cafeteria.
No.
She wanted them to eat outside the academy, and he was extremely baffled and shocked by this.
Foods sold in the academy were a lot cheaper than foods sold outside the academy, and he asked her why she wanted to eat outside the academy.
Her reason was simple and direct.
"Cause Iām rich and I like rich foods."
This was her basically flexing her wealth in front of Simon and he genuinely wanted to smack her into oblivion.
If she was so rich, then she should buy her rich foods for fuckās sake.
Despite her insistence on wanting to eat rich foods outside the academy, Simon refused.
She tried to threaten him, but he told her that no matter what she did, he would only pay for the food she buys in the school cafeteria.
She was extremely disappointed and displeased, but what Simon did not know was that she had achieved her main goal.
At the end of the day, Simon himself willingly agreed to pay for her food.
She outsmarted him.
(Inside the cafeteria)
Once again, Simon had a gloomy expression as he looked at the excessive food on his table.
āAnother six hundred merits gone.ā
Simon felt like his heart was bleeding as he thought about how much money he had spent today alone.
He was going to be poor at this rate.
āAnd none of my classmates have foolishly attacked me today. Donāt tell me theyāve learned their lessons so quickly.ā
āHow unfortunate.ā
He knew that Sunless was trying to send him a message. She wanted him to know that there were severe consequences for tricking and using her, and he could feel them in his account balance.
He shifted his gaze to Sunless who was eating a plate of raw shadow monkey brains.
This was the second time he was seeing her eat monkey brains and he could not help but wonder if there was something delicious about this food.
Especially when it was eaten raw.
He was a demon and he would deny that he has eaten things he would never have eaten as a human, but he didnāt mind.
However, eating a raw monkey brain was just extremely strange.
"Are you wondering why Iām eating a monkeyās brain?" Sunless asked when she saw the way he was looking at her.
Simon shifted his gaze from the monkeyās brain to her face... or mask to be specific.
"Yeah." He replied simply.
Her blood stained lips curled into a delicate light smile.
"Well, itās because theyāre delicious."
Simon could not help but raise a brow. He had a hard time believing that.
"I also gain some random insights on how to improve my usage of the shadow element whenever I eat the brain of a shadow monkey."
She looked down at the brain, then she took a piece of it with her fork and ate it slowly and with finesse.
"I learned that monkeys are the ancestors of humans. Humans developed from monkeys, so Iāve been curious to know what a human brain tastes like." She said with a light tone and smile.
Meanwhile, Simon blinked with an utterly stunned expression.
He never expected to hear such words from Sunless.
āThere are few races who love to eat brains, but sheās not showing the physical traits of a single one.ā
āIs this because of her race or because she just likes brains?ā
āWhy would she even like brains in the first place?ā
If he was a human, he would have felt completely disgusted with Sunless, but as a demon, he was indifferent toward it.
He was only shocked and taken aback by her most likely favorite food.
He looked down at the bowl of spicy bloodish soup.
"I see."
This was the only response he gave to Sunless, then he began to eat also.
A minute later, Sunless finished eating her plate of monkey brain, then she drank from her cup of water before asking Simon a question.
"By the way, your eyes. What happened to them? They were not like that earlier today."
Simon looked at her, then he shook his head.
"Itās personal. Donāt ask about it."
"Hmmm." Sunless tilted her head slightly with visible curiosity evident in her gaze.
She stared into his eyes, and the broken black ring around his sky-blue vertical pupils piqued her interest greatly.
"Iām guessing thatās an ocular technique. I donāt know what it is, which is rather surprising."
Simon looked at her and indifferently raised a brow, but he didnāt say anything.
"Youāve always been full of surprises havenāt you, Broken Halo."
Her lips curled into a smile.
" Thatās why Iāve been interested in you from the moment I saw you. Others would live their day without it being any different from the previous day."
"But you... you must always do something unbelievable every single day."
"Today has been relatively āpeacefulā, but you are different compared to yesterday. I donāt know what those eyes of yours does now, but Iām sure itāll be very interesting to witness "
Despite the words she said, Simon kept on eating his food and he only spared her a glance from time to time.
When he saw that she was done, he looked at her with a slightly raised brow and said.
"Thanks?"
Sunlessā lips twitched. "You could have just kept quiet you know?"
Simon nonchalantly shrugged. "Iāll do as you wish from now on."
Sunlessā right eye twitched this time around.
"You know thatās not what I-"
"You know what... Fuck you."
Simon tilted his head slightly. "Youāre not worthy."
Sunless did not understand at first, but the moment she did, her mouth opened wide and the spoon she held fell on the floor.
