Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Fly for Me
"Wait a second." Nathaniel Nathan pulled Vera Xavier into a bicycle shop. "Pick one out."
Vera Xavier was a bit surprised. āIs he buying me a bicycle?ā
Nathaniel Nathan said nonchalantly, "You donāt have a bicycle. How are you going to come find me from now on?"
Vera hadnāt expected him to have noticed her bike was missing. Her bike was gone, sure, but bringing a new one home would be even harder to explain. So she tried to deflect with a joke. "I have super-fast legs! Iāll just run over to find you!"
Nathaniel glanced at her perfectly straight, slender legs and was utterly unconvinced. "Okay then. Show me you can fly."
Vera Xavier: "..."
āDoes he have to be so contrary? How are we supposed to have a pleasant conversation if heās like this?ā
In the end, under Nathaniel Nathanās compulsion, Vera Xavier bought two bicycles: a womenās model for herself, and a menās model to replace the one from Zachary Preston.
Looking at the two bicycles on the way back, Vera Xavierās head started to throb. āDoes this count as "lose one, pay for two"?ā
Nathaniel Nathan had planned to take her home himself, but he got a call halfway there and summoned Aaron Cheney. He asked him to help Vera ride one of the bikes back to the Preston Family estate. As they parted, he leaned into her ear and whispered, "You heartless little minx. The next time weāre apart, if you dare not to miss me, Iāll just sleep with you."
Vera had thought he was going to tell her something important, and never expected *those* words. She was completely dumbfounded. Then her fair, jade-like face flushed crimson all the way to the tips of her ears.
Seeing the alluring blush on her face, Nathanielās blood rushed south. It took a great deal of willpower to stop himself from pulling her into his arms. Instead, he turned to Aaron Cheney and said, "Take good care of your sister-in-law. If she gets bullied again or anything happens to her at all, Iāll have your hide!"
Aaron Cheney grinned. "Donāt worry, Third Brother! As long as Iām here, no one will be able to bully Sister-in-law!"
Nathaniel didnāt say another word. He turned and hopped into the SUV Ronan Tate had just pulled up in.
After he left, Aaron Cheney asked Vera with a grin, "Sister-in-law, what did Third Brother just say to you?"
Seeing his gossipy expression, Vera narrowed her eyes. She smiled and said, "He said youāre too dumb!"
With that, she hopped on her bike and sped off toward the compound.
Aaron Cheney scratched his head. "Is that what he said? Something feels a little off..."
He couldnāt help but mutter, "Am I really that dumb?"
He couldnāt figure it out. When he looked up, Vera was already far in the distance. He quickly shouted after her, "Hey, Sister-in-law, wait up!"
Hearing him yelling that from behind her, Vera felt a headache coming on. If he shouted that all the way back to the compound, her reputation would be completely ruined.
She stopped and waited for Aaron to catch up. He pulled up beside her, grinning sheepishly. She said fiercely, "From now on, you are not to call me Sister-in-law in public!"
Aaron scratched his head, completely baffled. "If I canāt call you Sister-in-law, then what should I call you?"
"Just call me Vera," she said coolly.
Aaron nodded at first, but then immediately shook his head so hard it looked like it might fly off. "If I called you that, Third Brother would probably chop me into pieces!"
Vera looked completely exasperated. "Then call me Vera Xavier. In short, you are not allowed to call me Sister-in-law. Otherwise, Iāll be the one chopping you up!"
Aaron saw a fierce glint in the bright, beautiful young womanās eyes and lamented inwardly, āShe really *is* Third Brotherās woman. Her personality is exactly like his!ā
