Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Becoming Whipped
After Nathaniel Nathan spoke, he casually yanked a tablecloth from a table, wrapped the jade in it, and walked out. Ronan Tate stayed behind to pay for the processing and the tablecloth.
Aaron Cheney cupped his chin and said, "This is unbelievable. I never thought Iād see the day Nathaniel would be so whipped. No way, I have to go find his wife. I need to make sure Iām on her good side from now on!"
Most importantly, Vera Xavier seemed a lot more approachable than Nathaniel Nathan.
Yorke Young grabbed him and asked, "When did Young Master Nathan get married? How have I not heard about this? Which family is she from?"
"Theyāre not married yet!" Aaron Cheney replied. He thought about the whole mess with the Preston Family and recalled Nathanielās earlier instructions, so he didnāt dare say more, not even to his own uncle. "Just leave the jade purchasing to me. You provide the money, and Iāll do the work!"
"You brat!" Yorke Young said, slapping the back of his head. "Alright, fine. As long as sheās willing to sell us even a small piece, thatāll be enough!"
When Nathaniel Nathan arrived home with the jade, he could hear Master Nathanās voice from a distance. "Nope, nope! I made a mistake. Iām taking that move back!"
His eyes lit up. He quickly pushed the door open and went inside. Sure enough, he saw Master Nathan and Vera Xavier playing chess. The lovely young woman was looking at the old man with disdain. "Mr. Nathan," she said, "youāve already taken back one hundred and twenty-six moves in this game. Do you have no shame at all?"
"Why would I be ashamed?" Master Nathan chuckled. "Iāve already taken back so many. Whatās one more? Thereās no difference between one hundred twenty-six moves and one hundred twenty-seven."
Vera snorted. "You just want to win, donāt you? Iāve already let you win the past few games. This time, itās my turn!"
Master Nathan thought for a moment and decided she had a point. "Alright then, Iāll let you have this one. Weāll say you won!"
Vera: "..."
āWhat do you mean, "weāll say" I won?! I was supposed to win fair and square!ā
Master Nathan then lectured her with a completely straight face, "Donāt make that face now. Young people need to learn to respect their elders!"

Nathaniel couldnāt watch this any longer. He walked over and shot his grandfather a glare. "If Vera didnāt know how to respect her elders, youād never have a chance to win a single game against her."
Master Nathan huffed, his mustache twitching. "Who is this little brat? Showing no respect for his elders!"
Vera was trying to hide a laugh, but Nathaniel had already come over and taken her hand. "Come on. Follow me upstairs."
Veraās face instantly flushed red. āNormally, when it was just the two of them, she didnāt mind when he took small liberties, since they were married, after all! But Master Nathan was right there. Was it really okay for him to just pull her hand and tell her to go upstairs with him like this?ā
Master Nathan threw a hand over his eyes. "Oh, my! Young people these days... It really makes one envious! Not like in my time. If I wanted to hold your grandmotherās hand, I had to be all sneaky about it!"
He only pretended to cover his eyes, peeking through the wide gaps between his fingers. His eyes were crinkled with amusement, and though his words sounded like a scolding, his envy was written all over his face.
Vera: "..."
āThe rumors of a stern, formidable, and decisive Master Nathan must be fake!ā
Nathaniel paid Master Nathan no mind, leading Vera by the hand upstairs and into his room.
Once they were inside, she thought he would take the opportunity to get a little frisky like usual. But he didnāt do anything to her. Instead, he placed the bundle in his hands directly on the desk, unwrapped it, and said, "You really are lucky."
