Chapter 262: Chapter 262: Feeling Good
Corinne Walsh immediately shot Lana Sterling a glare. "A man like your Uncle Nathaniel is someone only your aunt is worthy of. So donāt even think about it!"
Vera was mortified. When she saw Nathaniel scoop up a spoonful of pig brain, she instantly grew tense. She knew him well enough to understand that he always followed through on his words; the rules and etiquette others followed meant nothing to him! Even with so many people watching, he would really dare to feed her himself!
She quickly snatched the spoon from his hand. "Iāll eat it myself!"
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and pushed the bowl of pig brain soup in front of her. A wave of nausea washed over her as she stared at the pale, lumpy contents. āHeās definitely doing this just to mess with me!ā
Vera gave him a pitiful look and tugged on his sleeve. He glanced down at her, unmoved.
Resigned to her fate, she picked up the spoon and took a large scoop. To her surprise, it was delicious. There wasnāt the slightest bit of a gamy taste.
She had just finished the pig brain soup when he handed her another bowl. She immediately grew flustered. "Iāve already had one bowl!"
"This is birdās nest soup," Nathaniel said, his tone flat. "If you donāt want it, you can throw it away."
Vera knew that a single serving of birdās nest soup like this cost over a hundred yuan in this day and age, and it was also extremely nutritious. She really couldnāt bear to throw something so valuable away.
She turned to look at him. He still wore that same cold, expressionless face, but she felt as if he had seen right through her. He knew she wouldnāt be able to throw it away. She let out a small huff, picked up her spoon, and finished the birdās nest soup.

After finishing the birdās nest soup, she was afraid heād make her drink something else strange, so she quickly made an excuse to go to the restroom.
The restaurantās restrooms were on the second floor. She reluctantly headed upstairs. As she climbed the stairs, she again felt like someone was following her. She glanced back, but once again, there was no one there.
She recalled the incident from that morning and grew wary. After all, Cara Preston and Rona Langdon were constantly scheming to prevent her from taking the college entrance exams, so a bit of caution was necessary.
When she came out of the restroom, she still had the unsettling feeling of being watched. Her brow furrowed slightly. Using the mirror above the sink, she carefully scanned her surroundings and spotted a dark figure lurking under a nearby flower stand.
The sky had just darkened, making it impossible to see the personās face. Her eyes narrowed. Spotting a basin by the sink, she calmly filled it with water, then picked up the full basin and hurled its contents toward the dark figure.
"Shit!" a manās voice yelped from under the flower stand, and a tall, slender man jumped out.
Vera grabbed a nearby mop and started whacking him with it, yelling, "Help! Someone, catch the thief!"
Sheldon Caldwell was caught completely off guard. With his skills, dealing with Vera should have been as easy as lifting a finger. But she wasnāt a terrorist, and this wasnāt a military drill. On top of that, she was Nathanielās girlāa delicate young lady. And since he was the one in the wrong for spying on her, he couldnāt possibly fight back!
He hurriedly shouted, "Stop, stop, stop, stop! Iām not a thief! Stop hitting me! If you do it again, Iām fighting back!"
Vera recognized him and lowered her mop, asking with narrowed eyes, "Sheldon Caldwell?"
Sheldon Caldwellās eyes lit up. "You know me? Holy cow, did Nathaniel tell you about me? I knew that guy secretly cared! He ignores me to my face, but as soon as his back is turned, he couldnāt wait to introduce me to his girlfriend!"
Vera: "..."
āWhere on earth did he get that confidence?ā
