Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Private Time
Alistair Forrest knew that if todayâs incident wasnât handled properly, they would all be implicated.
âSusan Caldwell is utterly vicious!â
Leo Wright glared at Alistair Forrest, who simply smiled back. Then, Alistair crossed his arms, curious to see how Vera Xavier would handle the matter.
Alistair Forrestâs words made Susan Caldwellâs expression darken. She was a smart woman and knew she couldnât gain any advantage in this situation. It was time to play her trump card. She said coldly, "Do you have any idea who my father is? How dare you hit me!"
Vera Xavier sneered. "The people I hate most in this life are those who think theyâre a big deal but are actually just trash. In the end, all they can do is bring up their parents."
She looked at Susan Caldwell and said, "I donât care who your father is. You tried to have me murdered today, and thatâs a debt youâre going to pay."
She knew full well how much Mr. Caldwell doted on his daughter, but for Susan to bring him up now was simply laughable.
âThis woman, Susan Caldwell, who seemed so untouchable in my past life, who made me suffer so horribly... looking at her now, sheâs really nothing special at all.â
"Today was just an accident! It had nothing to do with me! Besides, youâre perfectly fine now, arenât you?" Susan Caldwell said coldly. Inwardly, she was cursing the kidnapper. âSo useless! He couldnât even kill Vera Xavier under those circumstances!â
Vera Xavier raised her hand and slapped her again. "An accident? When I went to trade places with Aaron, you told the captor I knew martial arts. Wasnât that a clear warning to him? Werenât you trying to use him to kill me? The fact that Iâm fine only proves I was strong enough to survive your plot!"
Nathaniel Nathan had witnessed this firsthand, and the disgust in his eyes as he looked at Susan Caldwell deepened. The rule about not hitting women didnât apply here; he wanted to strike any woman who dared to bully Vera Xavier.
His hands were itching to get involved, but he could tell Vera wanted to handle this herself. He would let her. If she got tired, he would step in.
Her face already swollen from Vera Xavierâs two slaps, Susan Caldwell finally erupted in fury. "I am the daughter of the Minister of Commerce!" she screamed. "You dare to hit me? Iâll destroy your entire family!"
Alistair Forrest had suspected Susan Caldwell had a powerful background, but he was still stunned to hear she was the daughter of the Minister of Commerce.
He recalled what Susan Caldwell had said to him earlier, and his gaze deepened.
Leo Wright moved to help Susan Caldwell, but after a single step, Nathaniel Nathan blocked his path. The warning was clear: if Leo Wright dared to interfere, Nathaniel wouldnât hesitate to use force.
âBesides, my mission is complete and Iâm not in uniform,â he thought. âIâm free to handle some personal business.â
Of course, Vera Xavier knew exactly who Susan Caldwell was. The corner of her mouth curved up. "Scammers these days are getting bolder and bolder. To think one would even dare to impersonate the daughter of the Minister of Commerce."
With that, she kicked Susan Caldwell to the ground. Susan collapsed, in too much pain to even straighten her back. "You... you have some nerve!"
Vera had wanted to beat Susan up from the moment she laid eyes on her. Now that Susan had revealed her identity, Vera simply decided to treat her like a fraud.
Vera Xavier sneered. "Oh, Iâve always had plenty of nerve. You say youâre the daughter of the Minister of Commerce? Then prove it!"
Itâs not like Susan Caldwell carried her household register with her. What proof could she possibly produce on the spot?
