Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Utterly Shameless
The moment Nathaniel Nathan heard Alistair Forrest speak, his expression turned cold. Just as he was about to throw him out, Alistair grinned and said, "Actually, Iām just here to ask Honey to confirm whether she received the money."
āHe had made up his mind. No matter what Vera Xavierās name was, he was going to call her that. It was his special name for her. As for whether Nathaniel Nathan had an opinion on the matter, that was none of his concern.ā
Nathaniel Nathan fought the urge to send Alistair Forrest flying with a single slap. The man was just too thick-skinned and always smiling. Besides, Nathaniel was a soldier; he couldnāt just beat someone up when they hadnāt technically done anything wrong.
āEven though he really felt Alistair Forrest was asking for a beating!ā
āSo I should probably find a chance to throw a sack over Alistair Forrestās head some other day. It was his idea, after all. Even if itās a lame plan, he came up with it himself, so it would suit him perfectly.ā
Without another word, he slammed the door shut, once again nearly hitting Alistair Forrest in the nose.
Alistair Forrestās greatest trait was his thick skin. He moved to knock again, but just as he raised his hand, the door swung back open. "If you dare knock one more time," Nathaniel Nathan said, his face a mask, "Iāll throw you off the third floor."
Then the door shut again. Having learned his lesson, Alistair Forrest dodged back this time and snorted. "If I were afraid of you, I wouldnāt be Alistair Forrest!"
Nathaniel Nathan assumed Alistair Forrest wouldnāt try again, but it turned out he had still underestimated the manās shamelessness. About five minutes later, the door was knocked on again.
When Nathaniel Nathan opened the door, he discovered it wasnāt Alistair Forrest who had knocked, but his bodyguard. The tall and powerful man smiled the moment he saw Nathaniel and said, "My young master is looking for Ms. Xavier."
Alistair Forrest was also standing outside. Seeing Nathaniel Nathanās gaze fall on him, he held up his hands. "It wasnāt me who knocked this time."
Nathaniel Nathan had met his fair share of scoundrels and rascals, but very few were as shameless as Alistair Forrest. A frigid glint shone in his eyes as Alistair said with a smile, "Iām here to see Honey, not you. Could you step aside?"
They had all witnessed Nathaniel Nathanās off-the-charts combat skills before. Otherwise, a man with Alistair Forrestās personality would have simply charged right in.
"No," Nathaniel Nathan said coldly. "Youāll pay for what youāve done today."
Alistair Forrest shrugged. "Hey, man, donāt be like that. Iām just being a responsible businessman, doing my duty to make sure the payment went through. Is it a crime to be conscientious these days?"
Nathaniel Nathanās gaze grew even colder, and the temperature around them seemed to plummet. The spineless bodyguard abandoned Alistair Forrest and fled.
Alistair Forrest was speechless.
āHe felt that having an underling like that was a complete embarrassment.ā
Fortunately, Vera Xavierās voice cut in at just the right moment. "Thank you, Mr. Forrest. Iāll go to the bank to check in a little while."
She knew Nathaniel Nathanās temper, and frankly, she was impressed by Alistair Forrestās nerve. She was worried the two of them would really start something in the hotel, which would be a huge problem.
When Nathaniel Nathan heard that Vera Xavier had been woken up, his glare toward Alistair Forrest became even more hostile.
Alistair Forrest, however, simply beamed and said, "Alright, Honey. Iāll wait for you outside and go with you. Once itās confirmed, Iāll probably have to head back to Marinus, and I truly canāt bear to be apart from you."
āHe was speaking so normally at first,ā Vera Xavier thought, ābut the tone of that last sentence was completely off. This guy is really something else!ā
