Chapter 451: Chapter 451: You Are an Idiot
Curious, Cara Preston opened it. Inside was just one sentence: "Cara Preston, youâre a total moron!"
Cara Preston was completely stunned when she saw the words. For a moment, she couldnât figure out why Vera Xavierâs acceptance letter would have a sentence like that in it!
But she wasnât stupid. Deep down, she was a smart person, so she was only stunned for a moment before realizing she had been played!
She had always thought of herself as smart and capable, but now she had fallen into someone elseâs trap. In a fury, she ripped the paper to shreds. Still not satisfied, she tore up the envelope bearing the Veridia University name as well.
Afterward, she was still fuming, so angry she stomped her foot.
Just then, she heard Vera Xavierâs voice. "Cara, what are you doing?"
Cara Preston whipped her head around to see Vera Xavier, and her eyes instantly turned crimson. They burned with an uncontrollable jealousy and loathing, a venomous look that made it seem like she wanted to rush over and bite Vera.
Vera Xavierâs lips curled into a slight smile when she saw the look on her face. In her past life, Cara Preston had made her suffer terribly and emerged the ultimate winner. Now, seeing Cara nearly lose her mind, Vera felt a surge of satisfaction.
Cara Preston said through gritted teeth, "Vera Xavier, you set me up!"
Vera Xavier smiled. "Come now, Cara, donât say that. If you hadnât plotted against me first, how would I have gotten the chance to plot against you?"
At this, the smile vanished from her face. Her eyes darkened as she stared coldly at Cara Preston. "So this is all your own doing."
A terrible feeling washed over Cara Preston as she heard Veraâs words. Sure enough, the next second, she heard Vera shout, "Cara, how could you? Even if you hate me, you canât just tear up my acceptance letter! You ripped it up... How am I supposed to enroll in university now?!"
Cara Preston was stunned. She turned her head and saw Aaron Cheney, his mother, and several other women from the compound walking toward them.
Vera Xavier had previously given a piece of Emperor Green jade to the Cheney Family, so they already considered her a friend. Aaron Cheneyâs mother, Jennifer Young, had the best possible impression of Vera.
They had seen Vera Xavier and Cara Preston talking as they came out of the compound. Then, they saw Cara Preston storm up to Vera, followed immediately by Veraâs accusation.
When Jennifer Young saw the scraps of paper on the ground, she immediately understood everything. She couldnât stop herself from stepping forward to stand up for Vera. "Cara Preston, youâre not part of the Preston Family. They were kind enough to take you in, and it would be one thing if you were just ungrateful, but to actually tear up Veraâs acceptance letter... How could you be so cruel!"
Cara Preston flew into a rage at Jennifer Youngâs words. "I didnât tear up Vera Xavierâs acceptance letter! She took the real one away long ago! Sheâs framing me on purpose to get me thrown out of the Preston Family!"
What she said was essentially the truth, but at that moment, no one would believe her.
After all, in this day and age, a university acceptance letter essentially represented oneâs entire future. Who would be willing to destroy their own prospects just to ruin someone elseâs reputation?
Furthermore, everyone in the compound had seen how Cara Preston had been behaving lately. She lived in the Preston home but was always running around outside, and she had never once helped take care of Zachary Preston.
Jennifer Young sneered. "You claim Vera framed you? Are you saying you werenât the one who tore up this acceptance letter?"
Cara Preston was instantly at a loss for words.
