"Haha, that must have been hard for you, Uncle Dayong." Yang Chuxia laughed. Considering her grandmotherâs temperament, she knew Uncle Dayong must have been nagged all morning.
She then took out the egg pancakes made by Ms. Wang, "I guess Grandma didnât even let you have breakfast before sending you out, did she? Look how much your niece cares for you, I brought you my motherâs egg pancakes, made with two extra eggs."
"Oh, my dear niece knows me so well, I wonât be polite then. You really guessed right, Uncle didnât have breakfast." Yang Dayong took the pancake from Yang Chuxia and ate it while driving the oxcart.
"Uncle Dayong, how are the chairs you were making for me coming along?" Yang Chuxia hadnât forgotten about this.
After taking a bite of the pancake, Yang Dayong said, "To be honest, Xiaxia, that thing wasnât easy to make. I spent several nights pondering over it."
"And then? Have you finally figured it out?"
"Of course, who am I? Youâre an expert in business, but when it comes to carpentry, Iâm the expert. Donât you worry, itâs just missing a wheel, you can see it tomorrow at my place."
"Really?" Hearing that Yang Dayong had almost finished it, Yang Chuxia was overjoyed. She had guessed from his expression that day that this task wouldnât be too difficult for him, just a matter of time. And she didnât expect it to be done so quickly.
"Naturally, itâs true." Yang Dayong wiped his mouth and said, "To make sure itâs perfect, I even used iron wheels, the kind with pressure grooves, so they can slide easily and wonât wear out."
"Uncle Dayong, youâre amazing!" Yang Chuxia hadnât expected him to use iron wheels. She patted Ye Ziâan and said, "Brother An, isnât Uncle Dayong amazing?"
"Hmm, indeed amazing. Last time I saw someone sitting on a chair, it was all wooden with no wheels."
Complimented by the two kids, Yang Dayong laughed heartily, "If it werenât for Xiaxiaâs drawing as a template, I wouldnât have done it so well."
The three of them chatted and laughed along the way, and soon arrived at the town. They then drove the oxcart directly to the harem of JĂșde Building.
Soon, a waiter led the three of them to a private room on the second floor, and not long after, Shopkeeper Li came upstairs.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting," Shopkeeper Li said with a fist in hand as a gesture of politeness. Then seeing Yang Chuxia, he added, "Miss Yang, itâs been quite some time since we last met."
"Yeah, I havenât been to town for a while. As you know, itâs been chaotic lately, and my parents wouldnât allow me to leave home."
Shopkeeper Li enjoyed Yang Chuxiaâs humor and laughed, "Your father and mother are just concerned about you since those thieves havenât been caught yet."
"Exactly. In a situation like this, itâs better to avoid trouble if possible. Thatâs why I didnât insist on coming to town. I wouldnât have come if you hadnât mentioned having other seeds."
Speaking of seeds, Shopkeeper Li quickly asked a waiter to bring some up.
"Here they are. Our boss sent someone to the southwest recently, and these fava bean seeds came from there. That area has a lot of variety of beans. Take a look, just for the fava beans, there are several kinds - large and small, for winter and spring planting."
Yang Chuxia took a look as Shopkeeper Li pointed, and indeed, there were four types of fava beans, including one type with white skin.
"What do you think, Miss Yang? Can these be planted?"
