"Really?" She pinched her own cheek in response to his hand, and Ye Ziâan smiled, "I thought I had gained weight."
"Nonsense, all three masters have lost weight, and so have your sons." The two boysâ chubby cheeks were gone, "Sit here for a while, Iâll go check the kitchen, and weâll have lunch together soon. Iâve asked Liâs mother to help stew some old hen soup with some medicinal herbs in it, you should have some later."
"Great! Thank you, my lady."
Yang Chuxia bent down to kiss him and then left.
Once Yang Chuxia was out, Ye Ziâan closed his eyes and thought about the case that had occurred recently; it was simply too perfectly executed. Apart from the ship he had to investigate tonight, there wasnât a single flaw to be found. However, such perfection could be achieved once or twice, but it was unlikely to hold up every time.
"Has Handsome Daddy fallen asleep?"
A tiny voice came through.
"It looks like he has."
"Wonât Handsome Daddy be cold like this?" Yangyang tugged at his brotherâs hand, "Letâs go get a blanket for Handsome Daddy."
"Okay, letâs go!"
Hearing this, Ye Ziâan stopped pretending to sleep, opened his eyes, and smiled contentedly as he saw his two sons turn to walk out.
"Lele, Yangyang."
At the sound of his voice, Yangyang immediately perked up, wriggled free from his brother, and dashed over, "Handsome Daddy, youâre awake?"
"Mhm." Ye Ziâan looked at his younger son, whose complexion was indeed a bit yellow, and then at his elder son, who was no longer as rosy-cheeked as before.
He beckoned for his elder son to come closer, "What have you two been doing at home these days?"
"Playing with my brother, and Mother wouldnât let me practice calligraphy."
"Mhm, your mother saw you were just getting over an illness and wanted you to rest. Once youâre fully recovered, you can start learning again."
Upon hearing this, Lele nodded obediently, "I know, Mother told me."
"Thatâs good. Your mother mentioned that youâve managed to memorize the entire Three Character Classic?" This was something Yang Chuxia had mentioned to him before Lele fell ill, something heâd meant to ask the boy, but had forgotten due to being preoccupied these past few days.
"Iâve memorized it. Daddy, teach me the remaining characters, please. I can recite it all, but there are still some characters I donât recognize."
Ye Ziâan considered that he had nothing scheduled for the afternoon and that he wouldnât be going out in the evening, so he nodded.
"Then this afternoon, Daddy will teach you a few characters first. We wonât learn too much at once, a little at a time, okay?"
"Okay."
Yangyang was swinging his arm on the side, "Handsome Daddy, I want to learn too."
"Then you can learn together."
After lunch, Ye Ziâan took his two sons to his study.
Yang Chuxia was selecting fabrics, thinking of making two new sets of clothes for Yangyang and Lele, as children grow up fast.
But then she saw Mingcui walk in with a box, glancing back and forth between it and her.
"Why do you keep looking at me? Is there something on my face?" Yang Chuxiaâs gaze returned from a large chest.
"No, not at all. Itâs just that I... I..." Mingcui seemed uncertain whether to ask or not.
"Speak up, I get annoyed when you all hem and haw for no reason." Yang Chuxia thought to herself, this girl had been with her for several years now, how could she still not understand her temperament.
Considering the ladyâs usual manner, Mingcui finally spoke up, "My lady, didnât you ask me to bring tea and snacks to the young master and the little master? But before that, hadnât you already sent Ming Yu to do it?"
"Ming Yu?" Yang Chuxia frowned slightly, "No, I didnât ask her to bring any tea over."
