Mingcui saw that he was being careful, and Yang Jindi was following behind him; thinking back to what he had said earlier, she guessed that he had gotten into a fight. She looked at him with amusement and then took him to change his clothes.
After he had changed and tidied himself up, he then went to see Yang Chuxia.
"Mom! Stepdad"
"Sister! Brother-in-law"
When Yang Chuxia saw the two come in, and Yangyang had changed his clothes, she raised her eyebrows. When she glanced at Yangyang, sure enough, he turned his head away.
"Why have you come over?"
Jindi just smiled and didnât say anything, but Yangyang quickly made an excuse, "Grandmaâs place isnât fun today; itâs all adults who canât play with us kids."
"Really? Have all the guests at Grandmaâs house left?"
"I donât know; there were still people there when I came back." Yangyang saw that Yang Chuxia didnât ask why he had changed his clothes and immediately felt relieved.
But when he turned his head, he saw Ye Ziâan looking at his clothes with a smile that wasnât quite a smile, and the kid wailed in his heartâStepdad must have noticed something.
"Stepdad, mom, Iâm going to go do my homework in the study." In order not to give Stepdad a chance to ask questions, he decided to escape, and on his way out, he even called out to Yang Jindi, "Auntie, Iâm going first; you can stay and play here."
"Huh, why are you suddenly so conscientious today?" Perhaps because she was used to seeing her son drag his feet when it was time to do homework, she found it hard to believe this sudden initiative.
"Guilty conscience," Ye Ziâan snorted, "Didnât you see he even changed his clothes?"
"Jindi, come tell sister, whatâs with that kid?"
When asked, Yang Jindi just giggled and would not speak.
Feeling pressured by Yang Chuxiaâs questioning, she finally said, "I canât say; I promised my little nephew I wouldnât tell you."
Fearing that Yang Chuxia might continue to pry, the young girl made her escape too, calling out as she ran, "Iâm going home now, your place is too scary." But what she truly wanted to say was, "Sister, youâre too scary."
Leaving Yang Chuxia and Ye Ziâan exchanging silent glances.
It wasnât until Yang Xiayun arrived in the evening that Yang Chuxia understood what had happened.
"Sis, your Yangyang is quite something, he even set up a fight."
"Auntie, adults shouldnât lie; it was that kid who challenged me, I just accepted," Yangyang claimed boldly upon realizing he couldnât keep it a secret any longer.
"So youâre justified in hitting people now?" Yang Xiayun pinched his little cheek.
"Auntie, of course Iâm justified. Who lets him bully people?" Even now, the little guy was still indignant.
"Alright, stop sticking out your neck and glaring," Yang Chuxia said, "Although youâre not wrong, youâre not completely right either. You could have made the other person apologize; there was no need to resort to violence. When you could have settled things peacefully, why resort to force?"
"Force makes them remember the lesson," Yangyang countered.
With that one sentence, Yang Chuxia was left speechless. This childâs way of doing things was a complete copy of her own; to change the sonâs ways, she would first have to change her own.
"Sis, donât blame Yangyang too much. I talked to the He Family girl and they werenât upset," Yang Xiayun spoke up at the right moment. "By the way, sis, I think Big Brother doesnât like that Miss He."
She had invited people over that day to find a prospective bride for Yang Qingrui, so naturally she paid extra attention to the girls that came.
In the midst of it all, she even arranged for everyone to bump into Yang Qingrui twice, but the outcome was unexpected.
"Really? Then did you notice which girl he seemed to pay more attention to?"
