That should be the gleam from the arrowhead.
And at this moment, thick smoke rose from outside, occasionally accompanied by sparks.
"Oh heavens, is there a fire outside?" Princess Consort Zhuang exclaimed in shock, "Is he planning to burn us to death?"
"Iām not sure! This smoke may have originated from elsewhere." After a pause, "Whether we can get out alive will depend on the men outside."
They shouldnāt attempt to flee, as they are surrounded by archers. If they try to climb the walls or break through the gates, the arrows will rain down on them.
"Should we just wait here?"
"Letās wait for now. If we canāt wait anymore, weāll find a way to get out."
A quick glance reveals four to five archers on each rooftop, with others hidden in trees around the courtyard walls. Most likely, there are also soldiers guarding the area.
If it were just her and Ye San, breaking through might not be a problem, but now itās unlikely.
Even the guards of the two princesses havenāt taken action yet, so she naturally canāt act first.
Meanwhile, Ye Ziāan and others are still in the palace; the Grand Emperor hasnāt left either.
The ministers exchanged bewildered glances, unsure why Prince Le had kept them here.
Prince Le remained silent, simply waiting patiently.
Finally, the first person fell!
Soon followed by the second person!
"You! You poisoned us!" The Minister of Criminal Justice was furious. This man must never become Emperor, or calamity will surely befall the nation.
"Donāt be so tense." Prince Le chuckled, "Itās just a little bit of Soft Muscle Powder. With all the commotion outside, fighting and killing, itās exhausting and unsafe. Itās better for you esteemed ministers to rest here."
As his words fell, the noise outside grew louder, and upon careful listening, whistles, shouts of battle, and the clashing of weapons could be heard.
"Prince Le, have you gone mad?" the Minister of Criminal Justice shouted, "Youāre rebelling!"
"How did someone as slow-witted as you become the Minister of Criminal Justice?" Prince Le tossed a wine cup, hitting the Minister of Criminal Justice squarely on the forehead, "Iāve rebelled once before, do I need to rebel again? And would I rebel against myself?"
"How dull; canāt you see someone else is rebelling against me?"
Prince Le cast him a mocking glance and continued to drink and dine, as leisurely as if he were strolling through the mountains and waters.
However, upon hearing of rebellion, the Grand Emperor looked delighted, good, very good indeed. He could finally return to the Golden Throne Hall, but who was it this time? Was it Prince Zhuang? It must be, he always knew he hadnāt misjudged his son.
"Youāre quite pleased?" Prince Le gave him a sidelong look, "The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment."
"Yes, Iām delighted. Even without hope, Iām glad; Iām thrilled someoneās rebelling against you!"
Like Prince Le, the Grand Emperor hadnāt been affected by the Soft Muscle Powder, and was equally excited, sipping wine and munching on food.
"Prince, if someone is indeed rebelling, shouldnāt we rally to resist? Whatās the point of leaving us here?"
Lord Prime Minister did not understand; shouldnāt they be rallying the ministers now?
Shouldnāt they be protecting the throne?
"Of course thereās a point." Prince Le seemed in good spirits and said, "Iāve not only confined you here, but also detained your wives, daughters, and sons. The reason is simple, to prevent anyone from being insensible and conspiring internally and externally against me."
"Ye Ziāan, is His Highness Prince Le talking about you?"
