âThatâs a new level of displayâ
[Hey, Supreme ones that donât love you in first sight come with certain restrictions as you try to snoop]
"Cough...hello?"
I called out, to which once again the eyes that were on the book came back to me, as a sweet yet very disinterested voice called out.
"What?"
"Umm... I just wanted to ask if I can mess around a bit with the trial that links to a certain forgotten power of death lying around."
"No."
The answer came directly, stumping me for a second. Guess now I am indeed really feeling the effect of not being lucky at all.
[Indeed, the first supreme Goddess you met was the first match that instantly took to you, the second one was the same but in a different manner, but that luck has run out, which means just meeting someone doesnât mean it will go your way, especially against Death, who just doesnât care much about anything at all.]
Itâs a good thing I came prepared, then.
Replying to the system, I focused on the girl still lounging away at the big throne, my eyes scooping more of the puppy eyes as I spoke.
"Cough... um... is there any kind of deal made here that can be helpful to you, to me? Like, just some kind of transaction for turning a blind eye and maybe not getting pissed?"
My words this time made the girl smirk a bit as she still kept her eyes on the book and replied.
"Maybe. What you got? And unlike the rest of those mindless gods, who would do anything for just a moment of love that they can, I am not like that. I donât give a shit about that and you, so it must be something good and entertaining."
Her words only made my lips twitch as I held back the curse from the back of my throat. Before I headed in, I had bought information from the system. When it comes to the gods, and such, information about them isnât easy to get, meaning many of my systems canât get it, and even more, the cost is very, very steep.
I had to pay close to 25% of all of my current affection points earned just to get to know this girlâs interests, likes and dislikes.
You see, from this whole interaction, I was able to grasp something. She wasnât completely uninterested in me. In fact, she is indeed interested. Otherwise, why go through all this elaborate stuff to get me here? It means to her right now I am quite an enjoyable show to see, so she brought me here.
The second part being that, unlike the rest of the Gods I met till now, this one doesnât seem to bend or break much to the things I bring to the table, like the motions she can feel from me, and thatâs her biggest flaw right there. Just because she doesnât care about it doesnât mean the effects wonât take place at all.
You see, for those who donât understand it and never got to know about it, when it flows into you, and when you finally feel it, the effects will be far greater than you can imagine. Itâs why such effects came with Razellia, Orpheus and even Lala, since the first time isnât making much effect, then the best solution next is going old school.
Seduce her.
That was the next option, good old-fashioned stuff I do, but this time leaning more towards the Goddess of Death, who controls all forms of death that happen in the realms.
Easy peasy....
[And death-quesy]
Get lost.
Throwing away the system, jumping in, it didnât.
[Just wanted to say to be careful. Your thought process is right, but unlike the craziness of Razellia locked away in punishment, or the protective love that guides Orpheus, this one, when she goes crazy, the reactions might be catastrophic in many ways. Lala stays in her land cause she fears the Goddess of Life, so she will never do anything beyond some obsession, but this one directly opposes life, so you can imagine what will come your way. Just a reminder to be careful.]
Noted.
[Which means a shit show is coming.]
Cutting off the system, I focused back on the girl right in front of me, a smile fusing through my face, a gentle, light-filled one, the crown on my head sparkling as I forced my will on this world. The action immediately raised an eyebrow from her, but she let me be as I constructed quite the well-looking chair, as I took a seat on it, of course keeping it lower than her in the vast throne room.
Relaxing myself with one leg over the other, I established a bit of my own domination here as I spoke.
"If you arenât interested in me, you wouldnât have let me in here, which just goes against what you just said. You might not be interested much towards the motions of love, but it doesnât mean that you arenât curious about it. After all, everyone is curious about love, especially you, Death, who has seen how much love is tied to death itself, just as much as it affects life."
As I seriously spoke this, the girl finally closed the book she was reading, the book in itself just melting away into particles of light as she finally sat straight on the throne, the movements of her body still being quite gothically hot as I kept my eyes on her, which finally fell correctly face to face with me.
"Go on...."
She muttered with a smile.
"I can give you the feeling no one else in the cosmos can. You can take it as more of a research value. After all, arenât you a smart God? You would definitely want to experiment and feel how it feels, the love you have seen the mortals thrive in...."
"Orpheus told you something, it seems. Even then, this is just acceptable but not enough."
She added, to which my smile only got a bit wider.
"Then we can add the next part of it. How about trying to steal away the most precious and treasured child from Life itself? Wonât that be something...."
These words finally hit the point as I saw a wide, deadly smile come to the face of the girl. In fact, that smile was so disturbing that it split her face, though she quickly recovered and the atmosphere that was almost crackling calmed down.
"Good, that sounds like fun, but something tells me there is more?"
I nodded my head at her words, agreeing as I continued.
"The extra added touch is to feel the life that death can never feel. Life envies death because it can end, for there is no need for life, but death envies life, for it always gets to live, while death is the end. I can give you a moment that feels like life. The most inspiring part of living with a life is being able to love. What could be greater than that?"
My question leaves a certain suspense in the air, though by now I can already say that she is in. In comparison, death is more like a curious scientist. She wishes to feel upon certain stuff, intelligence speaks to her in a way, so does dominance, but what truly gets her motor running is being able to one-up Life.
"Sounds like good terms, but I want to add some more to it."
Nodding my head in agreement, I spoke.
"Go ahead."
"If I manage to strip your love fully from that big-boobed bitch, then you become the Prince of Death. You throw away Life, and you embrace the prize of mine, only mine. Deal?"
Oh.... this is interesting.
I didnât directly answer that. I just kept thinking for a moment, acting it out, surfing through it all in a way, after which I spoke, shaking my head.
"No deal. Orpheus gave me a lot. I am indebted to her and take her as my mother, my family, and I wonât throw it away for anything. What I give is the intrigue of stealing my love, making my love for you higher than that for my mother, a different type. You even get to play and tease a mother-in-law as a daughter-in-law, thatâs how far I will go."
The denial definitely didnât sit right as the moment I finished speaking, I felt the atmosphere return black, the screaming of the demands resounding all over my head, pressing at me harder and harder. Heck, the chair I had built has disappeared as I am right now being forced to stand still while a humongous pressure is reigning down on me.
"Oh? You think Life is better than me?"
The cold embrace of death slowly started to surge around me, choking me. The situation had turned bad.
