Chapter 124: Even If Its Just You
âWhoosh!â
Within the pitch black sea of flames, the tempest started whirling together into a tornado. It blew right through the bounds set by the black flames before whipping across the entire area.
The black hellfire was pulled along by the furious winds. Although it wasnât extinguished, it was still blown away and scattered.
The knights and adventurers surrounded by the black flames finally saw the day again and avoided a complete wipe-out.
âDamn it!â
Baydr was enraged. He once again released enormous magic from his body in preparation for a second spell.
However, this time, Shien didnât give him the chance to.
âI want to see how you dodge this!â
Shien, who had at some point moved to everyoneâs front, grabbed a fist full of rocks and started throwing them in Baydrâs direction like a machine gun.
The rocks were like cannonballs, blasting through the air. They pierced the sound barrier, releasing sonic booms, as they shot forth in Baydrâs direction.
â[Black Curtain]!â
Baydr reacted by chanting a new spell, releasing a pitch black curtain of magic power around him into a barrier.
When the oncoming rock cannonballs made contact with the black magic curtain, they were completely sucked in like being swallowed by a black hole. All they did was make a few ripples on the surface of the curtain before disappearing without a trace.
âDefensive magic huh?â
Shien stopped his throwing and tossed away the rest of the rocks in his hand.
However, since Shien stopped attacking, that gave Baydr an opening.
As he looked at the man standing in front of all the knights and adventurers, Baydrâs flame of rage only grew.
After all, Shien was the person that Baydr wanted to kill the most.
Be it the matter with Jillian or that mysterious magic item that killed all of his subordinates, that man seemed to have had something to do with both of them.
How that the man in question had come forth, Baydr naturally wonât allow him to leave.
â[Enmity Lightning]!â
Without wasting any words, Baydr shot the fastest spell he knew towards Shien.
It released a great number of lightning bolts. They also descended abnormally fast. All anyone could see was a flash before Shien was struck by countless black bolts of lightning from above.
âShien!â
âMr. Shien!â
As Vivian, who had been dragging the injured to the back, saw this, her expression changed. Even Melika couldnât help but yell out in alarm.
However, Shien who was bathed in pitch-black lightning bolts was completely calm. Not only was he completely uninjured, he even looked at Baydr with a grin.
The expression seemed to be saying something like âIs that all? Did you skip lunch or something? Put more strength into it!â
âHow is that possible?â
Baydr couldnât believe what he was seeing.
That was a spell that Baydr was quite proud of. Although itâs destructive power wasnât quite as high as [Hellfire], itâs still high class darkness magic. Against a normal opponent, never mind taking it head on, even just touching it would end with them getting cursed and falling dead on the spot.
If it was Vivian, perhaps she could withstand the entirety of this spell, but that was because of Vivian personally being special. She was basically unique within the entire mortal world, so how had Shien managed to the same?
â[Enmity Lighting]!â
Baydr, unwilling to believe what he was seeing, clenched his teeth and once again used the same spell, causing even more black lightning bolts to fall from the sky upon Shienâs.
Unfortunately for him, it was a completely wasted effort.
â[Lightning]!â
Shien, while still bathed in lightning, released his own spell. A brilliant bolt of lightning entirely unlike the black lightning bolts pierced the sky and fell upon Baydr.
â[Black Curtain]!â
Baydr reacted quickly. He near automatically utilized his defensive spell, releasing a black curtain to rise up and completely cover himself.
The lightning that Shien released made contact with the curtain, and much like the rocks from before, only created a ripple across the surface of the curtain before disappearing without a trace.
âIt seems like long distance attacks are unlikely to have any effect.â
Shien wasnât dismayed at all by the result. Instead, he just coolly concluded his observation.
Of course, Shien wasnât the only one to have made such a conclusion.
âUse this!â
Not far away, Diere appeared without a trace and tossed a sword toward Shien.
âThanks!â
Shien didnât bother to restrain himself. He just reached out and received the sword that Diere had thrown his way.
When he caught it though, Shien realized that this sword actually wasnât just a normal weapon.
The blade shone like platinum. The hilt was clear as crystal. Magic power flowed through it. It was obvious from a glanch that it was something exceptionally valuable.
âM-my swordâŠ!?â
At that moment, Balon, who had been moving the injured alongside Vivian and Alrith, yelled out.
So it was actually Balonâs sword.
In other words, this weapon was the personal treasure of the son of a marquis family, who was the level 68 captain of a knight brigade.
When he realized that, Shienâs lips twitched up in a playful grin.
âIn that case, I wonât hold back from using it.â
As he said that, Shien tightened his grasp on the sword. Magic power flowed like a stream, circulating within his body before concentrating over in his arms and concentrating in his arm, before flowing into the weapon through his hand.
âBuzz!â
Accompanying the buzzing, crimson magic power shone from the sword, turning into a crimson aura over the blade.
â[Magic Sword]âŠ!?â
Baydr was shocked.
âHow is that possibleâŠ!?â
Balon, Alrith, Leon, Eudrice and the rest were also shocked at the sight. Even Lumia and Melika opened their eyes widely in surprise.
âAs I thoughtâŠâ
Only Vivian muttered as if having confirmed something.
âGo.â
Diere just spoke a single easy to understand word.
â[Evolve]!â
Shien stopped hiding. He immediately activated the [Limit Evolution] skill.
In that instant, all of Shienâs stats rose explosively.
Shienâs eyes flashed brightly at the familiar sensation of power.
Then, Shien himself charged forward like a bullet toward Baydr, leaving displaced air in his wake.
Baydr finally managed to react to this turn of events.
âDamn it!â
The face of this Old Demon Faction leader twisted twisted in response.
Wasnât the highest level person here supposed to be only level 68?
Wasnât it supposed to be that this camp could be completely massacred even without him needing to raise a hand?
What the hell was with this current result?
A Vivian, a Diere, and now a Shien. Werenât all of them troublesome opponents?
Especially that Shien. It was like he wasnât even human. Itâs one thing for him to have turned Jillian, but with the level of power that heâs now displaying, just what was weak about him?
The more Baydr thought about it, the angrier he got.
At the same time though, Baydr also thought that if he left Shien alone, then in the future, Shien may very well end up becoming a huge headache of an enemy for the Old Demon Faction.
ThereforeâŠ
