This entire scene was seen clearly by Phield, who had been hiding in the shadows.
"These two idiots... theyâre way too easy to fool." Phield pressed a hand to his forehead, riding his warhorse slowly out of the forest. "I even prepared Plans B and C, but they couldnât wait half a dayâthey set off immediately."
"Damn traitors."
Ashina gritted her teeth.
"Theyâre not traitors. Theyâre just compromising under pressureâno need to judge them too harshly. They stayed by my side, and I used them once. Weâre even now. No debts between us."
"My lord, please donât take such risks again. Those unreasonable fools from Night Owl should be eliminated."
Ashina could not understand Night Owlâs ideology at all.
"Mm, I know what Iâm doing."
Holding his lance, Phield exhaled slowly. "Kai, take the cavalry to the forest north of Wind Orchid City and prepare to support us."
"Itâs time to settle this." A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and a cruel smile curved across his lips. Excitement made him tug repeatedly at his collar. "Otherwise, I wonât be able to eat or sleep in peace."
With their astonishing physical abilities, Miriam and Brinda quickly reached Wind Orchid City.
"As expected, Phieldâs men werenât lying. Wind Orchid City really was attacked by a Divine Chosen. Which one of our sisters acted so recklessly?"
Night Owl was also active in Rick Province.
Even before dawn, the city was already filled with cries and desperate pleas. Just hearing them was enough to send chills down oneâs spine.
Exchanging a glance, Brinda cracked her knuckles loudly, her expression grim. "Damn it. That noble is hunting down innocent people. Letâs charge in and teach him a lesson."
"Donât be reckless. Theyâre already on guard. Charging in now is just suicide." Without hesitation, Miriam immediately rejected the plan. She scanned the heavily defended walls, until her eyes landed on the massive breachâand froze. "Which sister has this kind of destructive power?"
As an assassination organization, Night Owl had no Divine Chosen specialized in siege warfare.
"Iâve got it. Weâll impersonate the Shadow World Sect. Kill as many soldiers as we can, cause chaos, then withdraw through the breach. Donât get dragged into a prolonged fight."
Causing destruction at the breach was completely different from being discovered inside the city.
Miriam snapped her fingers. "Perfect. I memorized the map from Phield. This couldnât be better."
Brinda frowned, arms crossed beneath her chest. "But why impersonate the Shadow World Sect? Those lunatics are no better than the noblesâI hate them."
"To muddy the waters and draw aggro. Also, if the soldiers suffer heavy losses, they wonât have the strength to oppress civilians." Miriam waved her hand impatiently. "Iâll explain next time. Hearing all these cries... itâs messing with my head."
With that, Miriam produced a mask as if by magic and put it on. Light on her feet, she leapt toward the city wall, evading the defense towers in a few swift movements before landing at the breach.
The two breaches had been partially blocked with rubble, while the remaining gaps were heavily guarded by soldiers.
"Stop! Who are you?"
Already on edge, the patrolling soldiers nearly lost their breath when a female figure appeared before them like a ghost.
"Heh... Iâm a Divine Chosen of the Shadow World Sect. Die!"
Miriam tried to sound deranged, but her naturally gentle tone made it come out oddlyâalmost like she was pouting.
But to the soldiers, it was something else entirely.
As if struck by lightning, their eyes nearly burst out of their sockets as they screamed at the top of their lungs, "Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"
"Third-tier Divine SkillâBlade Fan Tempest!"
In an instant, a dense barrage of throwing blades shot out like lightning, forming a storm of silver wind.
Blades clashed against plate armor in the darkness, sparks bursting everywhere as soldiers screamed. In a single sweep, the defenders at the breach were wiped out.
"Third-tier Divine SkillâFrenzied Lion Transformation!"
Completely different from Miriamâs precision, Brindaâs combat style was wild and unrestrained. With a single motion, her clothes tore apart, leaving only minimal fabric covering her body.
Amid a tidal wave of lion-like roars, Brinda charged straight into the breach, ignoring the fireballs and ballista bolts raining down from the walls. Like a golden cannonball, she collided with the defending soldiers, sending flesh and blood flying.
With a swipe of the Bloodwing Lionâs phantom claws, bodies were reduced to pulp. With a single punch, buildings collapsed.
Inside the lordâs chamber of Wind Orchid Cityâ
"My lord! My lord, wake up!"
Adrian was still dreaming when the door was pounded loudly, jolting him awake.
"What is it?!" Adrian roared.
The captain of the palace guard rushed in. "My lord, itâs bad! People from the Shadow World Sect have attacked again!"
"How dare she?! Goodâmy knights havenât left yet. Today, Iâll kill that damned gladiator!" Adrian threw off his blankets in fury, pounding the bed as he snarled, "Skin her alive and add her to my collection!"
The guard captain, drenched in cold sweat, dropped to his knees. "My lord... itâs not the gladiator. Itâs two unknown Divine Chosenâboth at the third tier."
"...What?"
Adrian froze.
No way. Was someone deliberately targeting him?
"This... this is an attempt to spark a rebellion from within my territory."
Cold sweat poured down his forehead as all traces of sleep vanished. The rebellion in Itavon Province had started exactly like thisâfrom Nogaisk.
"Two Divine Chosen can turn Wind Orchid City upside down. Noâwe must gather all forces and hold them off! Send cavalry immediately to request reinforcements from my father and neighboring lords. Hurryâthereâs no time!"
Without a second thought, Adrian made his decision, his entire body trembling.
Outside the city, Phield had also prepared a mask. The Black Crow banner fluttered high as he calmly observed the fires erupting within Wind Orchid City. Thunderous explosions echoed through the sky.
The soldiers on the northern wall grew fewer and fewerâall had rushed to reinforce the southern gate.
"This fire... is spreading even faster than I expected."
Phieldâs blood boiled with excitement.
"Ashina, intercept any cavalry attempting to leave the city for reinforcements. Wait for my black crowâs signal before taking the next step."
"Yes, my lord."
Ashina obeyed, riding off swiftly on her giant wolf.
"Letâs settle this, Adrian."
Phield dismounted his warhorse and slowly drew the Greatsword of Gluttony from his back.
"Rosalia, itâs your turn to perform."
"Kehehe... leave it to me."
Rosalia emerged from the Greatsword of Gluttony, stretching lazily. She glanced at the surrounding Corrupted Greatsword Warriors and said,
"Letâs move. Straight to the lordâs palace."
