"The arrows you commissioned Miss Fox to develop, the Holy Light arrows and Corruption arrows, already have finished prototypes."
Opening the wooden box revealed two rows of arrows resting quietly inside, one black and one golden. Although they werenât ranked weapons, waves of energy still pulsed faintly from them.
"Excellent. Letâs go test them and see how effective they are."
With a bow slung over his back, Phield entered the gray fog. Ever since Starnight City had been reclaimed, the number of corrupted corpses nearby had greatly decreased. It even took him several minutes just to find one.
"My lord, are you going to test them personally? Perhaps this should be left to the wolf demi-humans. Theyâre natural-born archers."
"Hmph, unnecessary. Archery is an incredibly simple skill." Phield pushed both hands forward with an invincible expression.
After spotting a lone corrupted corpse, Phield quickly steadied his breathing. He drew a Holy Light arrow, pulled the bowstring, aimed, and released in one smooth, flowing motion.
Whoosh~
The arrow completely missed the corrupted corpse.
"Fuck..."
Phield instantly felt awkward. Somehow, no matter how much he practiced, his archery always lacked accuracy. Even after training for so long, he still couldnât hit the target.
"ROAR!"
Another corrupted corpse hidden within the gray fog, one Phield hadnât even noticed, was struck by sheer coincidence. The Holy Light arrow instantly ignited it, causing the creature to explode into a dazzling burst of flames. After a miserable shriek, it burned into ashes.
"Pretty solid power." Phield nodded in satisfaction.
"Wow, my lord, youâre amazing." Tisiana hurriedly applauded. "I thought you were aiming at the one in front. It seems targets that close simply arenât challenging enough for you."
"If I told you I actually missed, would you believe me?" Phield wiped away cold sweat.
Covering her mouth, Tisiana laughed softly. "My lord, you really love joking around."
"Well, regardless, the Holy Light arrows have proven highly effective. Theyâre far more powerful than arrows coated in purification potion."
Back then, even arrows soaked in purification potion had made Rosalia scream in pain. The Holy Light feather arrows were at least ten times more effective. That was more than enough to make corrupted creatures fear them.
"We canât test the Corruption arrows yet. We donât have any death row prisoners on hand, so weâll test them during actual combat next time."
Putting away the second type of special arrow, Phield felt extremely satisfied with Gogrisâ work.
"I kind of miss Ashina. Letâs go visit her within the next couple of days."
"Alright. Iâll help escort the supplies."
Ever since Ashina stopped staying in the territory and devouring food nonstop, Phield felt like meals simply werenât as enjoyable anymore.
Unfortunately, the iron mine outpost had only just begun operating, so someone absolutely had to remain stationed there.
"Theyâre probably running low on food over there too. This time weâll bring her some daily necessities as well, like soap." Phield had already planned everything out, though preparing the supplies would still take two more days. "By the way, Tisiana, have you tried using soap yet?"
"Why would you ask that? Do I smell or something...?"
Tisiana sniffed her pale arm and complained resentfully, "I donât think so. Only girls with a lot of body hair usually have body odor. Iâm naturally the opposite. Some areas donât even have any... ahem. Anyway, I definitely donât smell."
"Wait, youâre naturally built like that?"
Phieldâs pupils shook violently. He suddenly felt like he had learned some unbelievable information.
"Stop thinking weird things." Tisiana turned her head away, but before she could pretend to get angry, she ended up laughing instead. "What exactly are you imagining?"
"Uh, I only had dirty people test it before because I wanted to observe the effects. Soap doesnât just remove odor. It also makes skin smoother, keeps you refreshed, can be used for washing clothes, and even for games. Well... never mind, that last part doesnât suit you. Anyway, youâll understand after trying it."
"Alright, but I donât know how to use it, so teach me." Tisiana shyly pinched the edge of her skirt. "Iâm pretty conservative. It takes me a while to accept new things."
Thereâs actually a situation this good?
Phield was stunned and instantly felt his entire body heat up.
"No, youâre incredibly advanced. Leave this difficult and humiliating task to me." Phield wore an expression as though he were marching toward death itself.
"Iâll definitely teach you properly, even if it costs me my life."
After all, it was perfectly normal for clergy like nuns to resist strange new inventions.
That night, Phield dragged Tisiana into the bathroom to teach her how to use soap.
Tisiana obediently allowed herself to be seated on the chair by Phield, her long legs naturally forming graceful curves.
"Not as soft-looking as Opheliaâs legs, nor as slender as Gogrisâ. Mm, perfectly balanced and healthy." Phield laughed aloud. A stunning beauty at this level wearing such a gentle and obedient expression really did awaken dangerous thoughts in people.
"Mm, the way you describe things is strange." Tisiana shrank back slightly. Although she knew Phield was joking, she still spoke seriously. "No eating people, alright? You canât become some deranged monster without morals."
"Alright, alright."
After removing her leg ring, Phield splashed water onto her leg before rubbing soap across it.
"Itâs simple. You just scrub it like this. Thereâs no technical skill involved, so donât treat new inventions like dangerous beasts."
"Mhm." Tisiana covered her mouth as she giggled. "How are you this skilled at it?"
"Iâve rehearsed it countless times in my head."
Phield grew smug.
Once he finished cleaning her leg, it gleamed brilliantly like polished jade, radiating a crystal-like glow.
I feel like Rosalia has corrupted me, Phield thought silently.
"I... I think I understand how to use it now. Iâll handle the rest myself." Tisianaâs breathing had grown heavier, and her holy eyes constantly shifted away nervously.
"Ahem, Tisiana, your lord currently feels very uncomfortable, and youâre the culprit behind it." Phield shamelessly accused her. "Surely you donât want your lord suffering like this, right?"
"Whatâs wrong? Where do you feel uncomfortable? Well... if itâs not too excessive, I can help."
"Ahem, just donât kick me. I know my limits."
"???"
Phield grabbed her leg, causing Tisiana to let out a startled cry as the atmosphere instantly turned chaotic.
The next morning, Phield woke up with a yawn and immediately saw Tisiana blinking at him with wide eyes.
"Perverted lord." Tisiana huffed unhappily. "No wonder youâre always staring at my legs. Youâre not allowed to anymore."
"My deepest gratitude to the angelic lady for not kicking me." Phield neither exposed her embarrassment nor admitted to doing anything bad. "I didnât do anything inappropriate. Itâs good for the skin."
"I donât believe you. From now on, I wonât believe anything you say." Rarely showing such girlish frustration, Tisiana shoved a plate of breakfast into Phieldâs hands. "Eat your breakfast."
"Thank you very much."
Phield wasnât worried in the slightest. If Tisiana were truly angry, she definitely wouldâve worn a longer skirt today, but she hadnât. She was probably only acting upset out of a clergymanâs professional conscience. It was likely her way of easing her sense of guilt.
