Peng Jingâs body tensed for a moment, but because Qi Jinghao was present, she didnât dare to raise her head.
"Iâll stay..."
"The Prince should leave as well." Yang Ruxin glanced at Qi Jinghao, "I donât like anyone being around when Iâm administering acupuncture."
Qi Jinghao had no choice but to nod, "Then Iâll have to trouble madam."
Yang Ruxin made a gesture to Chai Qin, instructing her to watch the door.
"Speak." Once the door was closed, Yang Ruxin walked to the bedside and looked at Peng Jing, arms crossed.
Peng Jing sat up, biting her lip, "Iâm feigning illness, thatâs why the old man couldnât detect it."
Yang Ruxin squinted her eyes slightly.
"Last time, because I misspoke, Gu Qingheng hit me, but after returning, I was confined." Peng Jing lifted her eyes to look at Yang Ruxin, "Iâve been locked up for three days now, just in that small courtyard..."
"Who is to blame?"
"I donât think I did anything wrong." Peng Jing pouted, "He said he loved me, said his feelings for the Princess were just a responsibility, but when I married regardless of everything, I realized itâs not the case at all..."
Yang Ruxin sneered.
"He abandoned us halfway, why didnât he take me?" Peng Jing wiped her tears, "He rushed to the Prefectural City, wasnât it just upon hearing that you were pursuing him in the city?"
"He knew I was in the Prefectural City?" Yang Ruxin frowned.
"Yes." Peng Jing nodded, "I heard Yuan Zhen reporting to him before he left..."
Yang Ruxin was shocked inside, does this mean her actions have been under surveillance all along? This realization felt terrifying.
"Whatâs wrong?" Peng Jing finally noticed Yang Ruxinâs anomaly.
"Nothing." Yang Ruxin returned to normal, "Lie down, without acupuncture itâll be hard to deceive others."
"Why are you helping me?" Peng Jing obediently lay down and loosened her clothes.
"Because I pity you." Yang Ruxin inserted the silver needle into Peng Jingâs back.
"Ah!" Peng Jing exclaimed, the needle hurt too much.
"Itâs much lighter than the pain in your abdomen." Yang Ruxin continued, inserting two more needles.
"Are you trying to kill me?" Peng Jing protested.
"Your stomach doesnât hurt now, right?" Yang Ruxinâs voice was calm.
Peng Jing fell silent.
For a long time.
"Yang Ruxin, I must admit, you are indeed more capable than me." Peng Jing spoke muffled from the pillow, "Thank you for helping me."
"No need." Yang Ruxin sat down beside her, "Because I can only help you this once."
Peng Jing said no more.
A quarter of an hour later, the silver needles were removed.
"You can continue lying down for a while." Yang Ruxin said as she wiped the silver needles, casting a glance at Peng Jing, "It will look more convincing."
"You wonât tell others about our conversation, will you?" Peng Jing hurriedly asked as Yang Ruxin was walking out.
"As long as you can keep quiet, you wonât need to worry about me." Yang Ruxin didnât pause her steps as she walked out the door.
In the courtyard, Qi Jinghao had been waiting here all along. Seeing Yang Ruxin come out, he quickly went up to her, "How is it?"
"Itâs fine." Yang Ruxin shook her head.
"Little Divine Doctor." Old Doctor Wei also came over respectfully, "Whatâs the issue with the Consort? Why couldnât I figure it out?"
"Itâs not the old gentlemanâs medical skills that are lacking, but..." Yang Ruxin glanced at Qi Jinghao, "But the Consortâs illness is not a real one..."
