After making his decision, he returned to forging his Life Ability. He ignored the people watching him and focused on growing stronger.
From what he can tell, there are two people watching him. He doesnât know if these two people are working together, but he doesnât care either way.
However, the people watching him cared a lot because they were not working together. They cared that someone else was keeping watch of Lokiâs movements, so they went to inform their respective bosses.
Jim was one of the people stalking Loki. When he noticed that there was someone else stalking Loki, he went to report to the Death Envoy.
He didnât waste any time when he noticed this anomaly. He ran all the way to the headquarters of the Death Claw Society. Then he rushed into the elevator and went to the third underground floor.
He found Death Envoy working on another corpse. She was treating the body with a material that coated the corpse with a layer of tough metal.
Before Jim could speak, she said to him with a cold, stern voice, "What is it? What could be so important that you couldnât inform me through your communication talisman?"
She didnât turn to address him, but even without seeing her face, Jim could tell that if he didnât provide a satisfactory answer, he would be in a lot of trouble.
So Jim quickly fell to his knees and said in reply, "Someone else is watching Loki."
His words caused Death Envoy to stop what she was doing. Then she continued working as if she hadnât paused earlier.
But her voice was icy as she said, "Who is it?"
The cold was real. It wasnât just something he could perceive in her tone.
As she spoke, the temperature plummeted, and he felt a chill all over his skin. What his body wanted from him was to leave the room as soon as possible. But he had to stay, and he had to say something satisfactory.
So he said, "I donât know. But I have..."
She interrupted him with that same icy voice of hers, saying, "You donât know? You donât know? Then what use are you?"
Even before she finished speaking, one of the zombies standing against the wall stirred and began to move. This zombie began to walk towards him.
It was clear what the zombie was coming to him for, so Jim quickly said, "I have a plan. I came here so that the person will follow me. That way, we can capture them, interrogate them, and learn who they work for."
The zombie paused when he said this. Then he heard Death Envoy say, "Good plan. It seems you have a good head on your neck. It deserves to remain attached to your neck for the meantime."
Then she said, "Take this with you to find the spy. Once you identify them, I will capture them. Then we will know what sort of game is afoot."
So the zombie resumed its motion. It continued walking forward, but it didnât walk to Jim like it was doing earlier. It walked past him and went to the elevator.
Jim wiped the cold sweat on his face and followed the zombie to the elevator. The two of them went up to the first floor and out of the building. Then Jim led the way to the spy.
They found the spy, and thanks to the prowess of the zombie, it was easy to capture the spy. This is something that Jim wouldnât have been able to do.
The process of capturing the spy didnât cause any disturbance, so the city police didnât notice. They caught the spy silently and returned quietly without anyone the wiser. This is also something that Jim couldnât have managed on his own.
After the spy was brought back, the rest of the matter was easy to handle. Death Envoy didnât have the ability to read minds, so she had to torture the spy.
Torturing someone was cumbersome, but Death Envoy quite enjoyed doing it. So the fact that the spy refused to spill the identity of the person who put him on the trail of Loki didnât discourage her. She was willing to torture the spy just for the fun of it.
Actually, the spy didnât say anything at all. Nothing Death Envoy did was able to make the spy even say its name.
She branded him with a red-hot iron, but it didnât work. So she began to skin him.
When that didnât work, she got some insects to eat the spy alive. He still refused to talk, and he didnât even scream in pain, but this only made Death Envoy more enthusiastic.
Jim was still there during this process, so he saw everything that happened. He could also feel hidden gazes from the zombies standing around, so he was too nervous to concentrate during the whole thing.
After three hours of torture, the spy finally couldnât hold back. His organs began to fail, and he died in gruesome agony. But as painful as his death was, his eyes were dull as if he didnât feel anything, and nothing came out of his lips.
Death Envoy wasnât disappointed, though. She had a smile of satisfaction on her face as she said, "I do like Skargâs puppets. He has an impressive way to make them loyal to him until their death."
When Jim heard what Death Envoy said, he asked in confusion, "Skarg? As in the leader of the Viking Blade Society and the head of the Rein Family?"
She nodded and said, "He is the one. Only he creates extremely loyal spies like this in this town."
Jim was still confused as he said, "But why would he send someone to watch Loki?"
His question made Death Envoy laugh. She laughed as she began to clean her tools and clear the corpse.
After laughing, she said with a cold tone, "It doesnât matter why he sent someone to watch Loki. What matters is that he has his eyes on something that belongs to me, and that is unacceptable."
