"Actually... some troubling news arrived a few days ago. The Demon Emperor is rumored to have been resurrected."
Elina and Rafine were shocked when they heard this. They exchanged horrified glances, as if they couldnât believe what Evalyn had just said.
"The Demon Emperor has been resurrected, you say? Evalyn, are you serious?" Elina asked in a heavy voice.
The Demon Emperor was the most dangerous figure in this worldâs history.
In the past, millions of lives were lost because of him, and this continent nearly fell into endless suffering.
If it werenât for the cooperation of all the powers in the world and the existence of two transcendents, he might have destroyed all living things.
"Do you think I need to lie to you?" Evalyn sighed deeply as she folded her arms across her chest. "In our family, there is an ancient artifact left behind by our ancestor. Because our ancestor knew the Demon Emperor was not completely dead, he created this artifact together with the Asbourne familyâs ancestor."
"A few days ago, that artifact suddenly activated and caused chaos in our family. My father and the elders immediately started searching for traces of the Demon Emperor. Thatâs why he was late to this party."
She herself didnât expect the Demon Emperor to resurrect in her era.
Fortunately, she had already mastered the Divine Sword Luminus.
So even if the Demon Emperor truly appeared, she was ready to defeat him.
Elina and Rafine fell silent, each with a gloomy expression.
This was a huge problem. It was not impossible that the peace they had enjoyed all this time would be shattered into pieces.
"All right, donât be so anxious," Evalyn said soothingly. "In the past, the Demon Emperor was able to dominate this continent because there were no Seven Singularities. Now, with them protecting this world, itâs impossible for him to continue his ambitions."
The world a thousand years after the Demon Emperorâs death had changed drastically.
What was once chaotic and full of war was no longer like that.
The Seven Singularities brought peace to the entire continent, and their presence maintained stability so that no single power could dominate too much.
To many ambitious people, they might be seen as obstacles that had to be removed.
But for Evalyn, their existence was necessary to keep the world stable.
Evalynâs words made perfect sense. In the end, Elina and Rafine felt relieved and calmed down.
"Oh, right, I heard Nolan went to the northern continent, didnât he?" Evalyn changed the subject. "What is he doing there? And I also heard that Princess Sharon is there too. I havenât seen her in a long time, and she left again soon after returning. What a pity."
She sighed softly. Since she was Nolanâs childhood friend, she was naturally close to Sharon, Freya, and Selena.
They still played together occasionally, but ever since Sharon went to the Academy of Fallen Stars, their relationship had gradually faded.
Elina chuckled and explained, "Brother Nolan went to the northern continent, specifically to the Kingdom of Kaldarion. He and Sister Sharon were ordered by Father to handle a big problem related to the white dragon. The two of them also..."
She continued explaining what the two had done. Evalyn finally understood and couldnât help but laugh.
"Finally, that lazy man got what he deserved. Who told him to always slack off? His Majesty the Emperor must have been fed up with him."
"Youâre right," Elina giggled.
Rafine, who had been watching their conversation, felt a little annoyed. It wasnât toward Elina, but toward Evalyn.
Nolan and Evalyn seem much closer than I thought,
she muttered sourly.
She knew they were childhood friends, but even so, it irritated her for no reason.
"All right, thenâ" As Evalyn was about to leave and enter the palace, a calm voice suddenly echoed in front of them.
"It has been a long time, Evalyn. You seem to have grown stronger."
The three of them were startled. They turned toward the source of the voice and saw a tall, handsome man.
He wore a midnight-black robe with several gold accessories hanging across his chest and other parts of his attire.
His hair was dark brownâalmost blackâand long enough to cover his ears.
His bangs were also long, covering his right eye.
His face was handsome but pale, with a cold and gloomy expression that made anyone feel uncomfortable around him.
"Nathan Asbourne?" Evalyn narrowed her eyes. "What do you want?"
Beside Nathan stood Cedric and several other young nobles.
Their arrival instantly created tension in the air. Some newly arrived noble families were surprised by the scene and chose to watch, curious about what might unfold.
"Nothing. I just wanted to greet you. And you still havenât answered my questionâyou seem stronger. Am I right?" Nathan gave a slight smile.
Evalyn smirked. "Whether Iâm strong or not, itâs none of your business. But since youâre so curious, Iâll answer. Yeah, Iâm much strongerâand strong enough to kick your ass."
Elina and Rafine couldnât hold back their smiles. If they didnât have to maintain their composure, they would have burst out laughing.
Evalynâs taunt was just too blunt. Rafine couldnât help but think of Nolan.
They were very similar when mocking someone.
"You..." Nathan was furious. He knew Evalyn was a blunt woman, but he didnât expect her to humiliate him in front of everyone.
Anger exploded inside him as his body suddenly emitted a thick black light that shot up toward the ceiling of the entrance hall.
The pressure surged, and the temperature dropped sharply. Everyone felt their breath catch, as if invisible hands were strangling their throats.
Not to be outdone, Evalyn unleashed her power as well. A golden light burst from her body and clashed directly against Nathanâs.
Both of them were the new generation wielders of two legendary weaponsâthe Divine Sword Luminus and the Dark Sword Eclipse.
These two swords were the very weapons used to kill the Demon Emperor in the past.
However, because of the feud between their families, they became enemiesâdeep enough to hate each other.
Cedric quickly patted Nathanâs left shoulder and tried to calm him. "Control yourself, Nathan. If you get provoked any further, youâll only embarrass yourself in front of everyone."
Elina also hurried to calm Evalyn and asked her to suppress her aura.
Otherwise, things could get out of hand. Evalyn and Nathan exchanged sharp glances, then simultaneously withdrew their powers.
The atmosphere returned to normal, and everyone finally let out a long breath of relief.
The pressure released by the two heirs of the legendary swords was truly terrifying.
"Donât think our conflict ends here, Evalyn," Nathan said coldly as he turned away. "One day, I will defeat you."
Without waiting for a response, he walked into the palace.
Cedric and the other young nobles followed behind him. As he passed, Cedric shot Elina a cold glance before slowly disappearing from view.
"Weâll see who begs for mercy later," Evalyn snorted.
Elina just smiled and rubbed her back gently.
"All right, donât stay angry like that. Letâs go inside. The party is about to start."
Evalyn nodded lightly. After that, the three of them walked inside.
