Ruan Jiandang didn’t answer and simply headed to his own side after a greeting, while Ruan Jianmin glanced at Wu Le and said flatly, “Not good.”

Wu Le immediately frowned, closing the door as he said, “But we can’t keep losing money like this; it’s not sustainable.” He paused, then cautiously asked, “How about this, I’ll go to see big brother tomorrow. We should go back to the factory. My mom said there are still positions available, we can return to the same jobs.”

Wu Le hadn’t gone to the store today because of this very matter.

Ruan Jianmin gave her a look and nodded, “Okay, as you wish.”

“Really?” Wu Le was somewhat disbelieving that he’d agreed so easily.

Ruan Jianmin nodded.

Now Wu Le felt even more uneasy. As she followed him into the house and brought him water to wash his face and feet, she said, “Don’t take a bath tonight; wait until the morning so you don’t wake the kids. They have to get up early tomorrow.”

After finishing, she added, “Are you really okay with it? Are you not angry?”

Ruan Jianmin sighed, pulling her to sit beside him, “What is there to be angry about? I know you’re doing this for our family. Our family isn’t like big brother’s family; we don’t have the capital to squander. Do as you think best.”

“Hmm, then I’ll go see big brother tomorrow, and if we have to compensate, we will!” Wu Le said through gritted teeth, despite the pain of thinking about the lost money.

Hearing this, Ruan Jianmin’s face finally relaxed, and his gaze softened as well.

“Don’t worry. I will work hard to give you and the boys a good life,” Ruan Jianmin said.

“Sister-in-law, where’s big brother?” Wu Le asked from within the kitchen.

Shu Jiao, who was scrubbing pots, paused and looked at her, “If you need him for something, he left for the city before dawn today. But you can talk to me about anything; I can make decisions on his behalf.”

Wu Le laughed awkwardly before saying, “It’s like this, I want to check the store’s accounts for the past few days, see how much we’ve lost, and fill in our share first.”
