Jiang Xun didn’t answer, he just looked at her. When Yu Rou felt inexplicable, she heard his answer: "No reason."

Then he turned around and left.

Yu Rou rolled her eyes speechlessly. But since this cousin had always seemed weird to her, she didn’t delve into it.

Not seeing the person she wanted to see, Jiaojiao, Yu Rou lost interest in the engagement party and turned to leave, informing her parents before she left.

Meanwhile, Jiaojiao strolled around the backyard with Ruan Hao and learned a bit about Yu Rou and Jiang Xun’s presence from Ruan Hao.

She could accept Yu Rou’s birthday gift, but felt some regret about accepting Jiang Xun’s. It would be even worse to return it so straightforwardly, so she resigned to the situation, thinking she’d talk to Shu Jiao about returning a gift in kind later.

Jiaojiao and Ruan Hao didn’t stay outside for long and headed back when it was almost time. As they reached the box’s door, they saw Shu Wen and Qin Qiong walking out together.

Knowing Shu Wen was going to the restroom, Jiaojiao also wanted to go and immediately expressed her desire, waving her little hands for Shu Wen to hug her.

Shu Wen didn’t mind being seen as inappropriate, smiled, and picked her up to walk out.

Since it’s a high-end hotel, the restroom was separated in another building, requiring a walk through a corridor to reach it.

The corridor was elevated, with a small artificial lake underneath. The lake had fake mountains and colorful fish, giving a sense of allure.

At such a banquet, people generally minimize eating and drinking to avoid going to the restroom, so they didn’t encounter anyone on their way.

After using the restroom, Shu Wen took out a damp handkerchief and held Jiaojiao in her arms, wiping her little hands one by one. She only paid slight attention to the road conditions, but didn’t notice the people passing on either side.

Jiaojiao didn’t mind either, extending her hands for Shu Wen to wipe them. Just as she finished wiping one paw and was about to switch to the other, a large hand suddenly appeared in front of her.

The owner of that large hand wasn’t targeting her, directly bypassing her to grab Shu Wen’s wrist, pulling her in one direction.

Both Shu Wen and Jiaojiao were caught off guard, especially Jiaojiao, who felt her body suddenly lifted into the air, then swiftly plummeted down and with a thud hit the floor. Before she could feel the pain, she rolled over and continued falling.

Thinking the place below was the artificial lake, Jiaojiao was so frightened her hair stood on end, struggling in mid-air to turn over, but she still ended up in the water.

Jiaojiao screamed in terror, opening her mouth only to feel endless water rushing in, choking her so much she couldn’t make any sound.

Water splashed everywhere, and she couldn’t even see Shu Wen’s face.

Shu Wen was pulled aside, stunned for a moment, and hadn’t yet regained her composure when she saw Jiaojiao fall into the lake, her pupils shrank suddenly and her face turned pale instantly. Without even thinking, she shook off the person holding her wrist, lifted her foot, and was about to climb the railing to jump into the lake but was held around the waist from behind.

"Are you insane?!!" the man holding her shouted, pulling her away from the railing.
