In the end, Lu Xian couldnāt even recall what he said, and after hanging up the phone, he felt somewhat dazed.
The classmate who had been standing by his side looked at him nervously, "Yanzi, are you okay? Your foot is badly bruised. Do you want to go to the hospital?"
Lu Xian looked down at the bruise on his foot, caused by a porcelain cup, and after a long silence, he gave a bitter smile and said lightly, "No need, it doesnāt hurt."
After all, some pain had long surpassed the pain of that bruise.
The relationship between Jiaojiao and Duan Xi, in the Ruan Family, the Lu Family, and even the Shu Family, could be said to be an open secret, just not yet unveiled.
Lu Xian was more aware of his own position than anyone else, yet he never expected that Ruan Jiaojiao and Duan Xi would be getting engaged so soon, as if to remind him how sordid his little hidden thoughts were...
But even though the announcement brought mixed feelings, the engagement date was set.
On the last day of the holidays, Jiaojiao went to the hospital to see Gu Zichen. The little one resembling a purple sweet potato had grown a bit, and the blue and purple bruises on its body had disappeared, but it hadnāt inherited the fair skin of Gu Zichen and Shu Lang; it was rather dark, like a Little Potato.
Even though Little Potato was a bit dark, its features were undeniably good-looking and it would definitely grow up to be a handsome boy.
Jiaojiao fondly held and played with Little Potato in her arms, asking Gu Zichen, "Auntie, has my cousinās name been changed?"
"Yes, itās changed. Itās called Yingjiao, welcomeās Ying. What do you think?" Gu Zichen replied.
"..." Jiaojiao.
Could she say itās not great?
But facing Gu Zichenās hopeful eyes, Jiaojiao really couldnāt say those words, so she asked in reverse, "Did grandpa choose it?"
"Yes, your grandpa picked it. Yingjiao, Yingjiao, it sounds smooth and has a nice meaning. Now the nickname hasnāt been chosen yet, would you like to choose one, Jiaojiao?"
Jiaojiao looked down at her little cousin who was blowing bubbles in her arms, feeling her task was indeed significant. Since the given name couldnāt be changed, at least the nickname should be more impressive. She solemnly declared, "Then letās call him Little Potato."
And so, the great-grandson of the Shu Family had his names settled, with his formal name as Shu Yingjiao, and his nickname as Little Potato!
Little Potato apparently didnāt know what awaited him. He loved being held by his little cousin, and when the nurse took him from Jiaojiaoās arms, he craned his little neck and cried out in complaint. But the next second he was confronted by a pair of eerie green eyes nearby, and was so frightened that he trembled, holding back his tears, and didnāt dare cry again as he was meekly handed over to Gu Zichen.
Sniffing while eating.
This birth had taken a toll on Gu Zichenās health, so she didnāt breastfeed and used infant formula instead. After all, the Shu Family didnāt lack money, and there was no worry about the cost of milk.
Jiaojiao felt particularly happy after leaving the hospital. Thereās always something particularly exciting about new life.
She had come with Duan Xi alone, so only the two of them were on the way back. Sitting in the passenger seat, she rested her arm on the window, her little head leaning against it, welcoming the cool evening breeze from outside, and asked Duan Xi contemplatively, "Brother Duan, do you prefer boys or girls?"
