The night was tranquil, and the sea breeze brushed against the face.
In the dead of night, the beach was very deserted.
On the sand, a silver-purple motorcycle stood out prominently in the dark.
Not far from the motorcycle, the slender silhouette of a young girl emanated a sense of loneliness, surrounded by a few crumpled beer cans.
At a glance, she had drunk about five cans.
After leaving Mo Garden, she returned to the VI club, but still could not stay put and rode her motorcycle to the beach.
She had drunk a pile of beer, but her mood was still a mess.
The manâs low voice seemed to echo in her ears, Ye Jiuliang tilted her head back, took a swig fiercely and anxiously.
She crushed the empty can and threw it down vehemently.
"Like? Hah," she mumbled, her body leaning to one side, she lay down on the beach, "Li Mochan, youâre really TM toxic."
In her irritability, the cellphone in her pocket suddenly rang.
She took it out and saw that the contact was Anuo.
Clearing her throat, she held the phone to her ear, and the clear female voice came through from the other end,
"Ajiu, Achen and I are going to S-city next week. Come join us then; the four of us can get together."
Ye Jiuliangâs eyes relaxed, "How come all of a sudden youâre thinking of S-city?"
"Have you forgotten? Itâs Aqianâs birthday next week."
At the reminder, Ye Jiuliang recalled, she slapped her forehead, tsk, it had all been confusing.
She almost forgot it.
"I havenât forgotten, when are you guys coming? Iâll find you," Ye Jiuliangâs lips parted slightly, her voice a bit hoarse.
Sensing something off with her mood, Gu Xinuo asked, "Ajiu, where are you right now, why is there so much wind noise?"
"At the beach."
"Why are you at the beach in the middle of the night?" Gu Xinuo put down the gun and walked out of the shooting range, teasing, "Could it be that our Master Jiu fell for some handsome guy and didnât get him, so she ran to the beach to soak in the cold wind?"
"Donât worry, I only love you," Ye Jiuliang said without a hint of emotion in her voice.
At those words, Gu Xinuo chuckled, "Give me a break."
"Are you still at the headquarters?"
"Yeah, Achen went to F-country yesterday, I need to stay at the headquarters to help with paperwork."
Ye Jiuliang frowned, "Is it related to the Mei Organization?"
Gu Xinuo responded affirmatively, "Since the news of Wo Teâs sudden death reached the Mei Organization, his power-hungry brothers started fighting amongst themselves for control. We raided the Dark Hallâs shipment, and Li Mochan wouldnât let the Mei Organization off the hook. Hence, the quick resolution of the Bour Familyâs internal struggle had Li Mochan as the biggest backer."
Hearing the words "Li Mochan", Ye Jiuliang pursed her lips, her thoughts once again pulled back by Gu Xinuoâs words.
"With the Bour Familyâs fall, Dark Hallâs men immediately took over the Mei Organization. Itâs been restless over there recently; many organizations and families have been involved. We had previous cooperations with the Mei Organization, and these past few days, one of our strongholds in F-country was attacked; thatâs why Achen went to check things out."
"Is it related to Dark Hall?" Ye Jiuliangâs fingertips curled slightly as she asked.
After pondering, Gu Xinuo said, "Partially, many people are eyeing the lucrative opportunity of the Mei Organization, but with the power of Dark Hall evident, who would dare to openly challenge them for it? Although minor skirmishes in the dark are inevitable."
Dark Hall was strong, and their K organization was not weak either, roughly equal in strength. The murky waters of the Mei Organization were something they, even if they wished to avoid, could not ignore.
Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, concealing deep complexities, and Ye Jiuliangâs clenched fists slowly relaxed.
"Anuo, under the current circumstances, would our K organization and Dark Hall be considered enemies?"
If she could, she really didnât want to be Li Mochanâs enemy.
Had it been before she returned to the capital, she could have been indifferent.
But at least, for now, she did not wish for that.
"As for being enemies, itâs not that extreme; after all, we and the Dark Hall have always kept to our own waters. But if one day the Dark Hall finds out that it was our K organization who stole their goods, then who knows," Gu Xinuo said slowly.
Ye Jiuliang closed his eyes briefly, the corners of his lips curving into a mocking arc.
Yes, the future was uncertain for anyone.
Standing in that position, the desire for a peaceful life was nothing but wishful thinking.
Even if they were not enemies now, the K organization and the Dark Hall might very well become adversaries over conflicts of interest in the future.
"Ajiu, I have some matters to take care of; Iâm going to hang up first," Gu Xinuo continued.
"Mhm."
The call ended, and a faint sigh was carried away by the wind.
Ye Jiuliang sat up, reaching for another can of beer and pulling the tab.
With a "tsss," the faint aroma of beer wafted through the air.
After a few swigs, the cool liquid settled in his stomach, and Ye Jiuliangâs eyes narrowed. The confusion in their depths faded, gradually becoming clearer.
...
VI Club
"Ahan, whatâs wrong with you?" Feng Yi watched as the man across from him downed one drink after another, drinking more fiercely as if trying to drown himself in alcohol.
He had called him out for a drink, and yet the man hadnât said a word, just sat there drinking down his sorrows, ignoring whatever he said.
It was obvious that there was something fishy going on.
"Did you have a fight with Ye Jiuliang?"
Before he had even finished speaking, his keen eyes caught the manâs hand pause as it lifted the glass, and he suddenly understood.
"Actually, having a fight isnât such a big deal; just coax the young girl a bit, and it will be fine. If you donât know how to do that, I can teach you..."
"She ran away."
The manâs voice was cold and hoarse, unable to hide his desolation.
Feng Yi was stunned, then carefully inferring the meaning behind his words, he cautiously asked, "Did you do something... excessive to her?"
Although he hadnât had much contact with Ye Jiuliang, he could tell from the few encounters that she was incredibly bold. If she had been driven away, it must have been because his brother had done something to her.
Li Mochan lifted his eyelids and gave him a chilly glance, then went back to drinking in silence.
Watching him mix different alcohols, Feng Yi was fearful and, mustering his courage, snatched the glass from his hand, "Youâve already had so much; any more and youâll ruin your stomach."
Without even eating dinner, just pouring alcohol into himself as if he were made of iron.
Li Mochan paid him no mind, grabbing a new glass and preparing to continue drinking. Feng Yi shook his head helplessly, remembering someone who once claimed he didnât like Ye Jiuliang.
Stubborn as a mule.
"Help me look into something," Li Mochan said, his voice raspy, after downing another glass.
Feng Yi asked, "What is it?"
"Jinxiu Linting, which suite sheâs living in."
It was clear who he was referring to with "she."
Feng Yi was surprised, "Isnât Ye Jiuliang living with the Ye family? Why did she move to Jinxiu Linting?"
Li Mochan replied, "She moved out of the Ye family."
"Alright, Iâll get you the information tomorrow," Feng Yi said, glancing at the empty bottles on the table and attempting to dissuade him, "Getting drunk here wonât solve anything. Youâd better think about how to coax her back. After all, sheâs still in the capital, and thereâs plenty of opportunities to woo her."
Li Mochan remained silent, his thin lips unwittingly pressing together.
He wanted to coax her, but he feared she might not be willing to give him a chance.
