The sound of a car engine starting echoed from outside, and Ye Jiuliang hooked her lips in a slight smile.
"Achenās acting is quite good, nearly catching up to Aqian."
She withdrew her gaze to look at Gu Xinuo, her eyes faintly red and unusually vulnerable.
Ye Jiuliang blinked, a trace of guilt bubbling up from within.
"Anuo, it has nothing to do with you. Heās just going out to stay for a couple of days; heāll be back soon."
Gu Xinuo hung her head, her nasal voice heavy, "Ajiu, heās really angry."
"Thatās not true; he said heās only going out to stay for a few days. If he doesnāt come back, Iāll personally go and drag him back." Ye Jiuliang reached out and ruffled her hair, "Iāll go make you some instant noodles."
That was the only thing she knew how to cook.
Gu Xinuo remained silent, just staring blankly at the empty doorway.
...
"Knock, knock, knockā"
The knocking at the door was both urgent and fierce.
In the spacious living room, not a single person was in sight.
Hearing the noise from upstairs, Jiang Yisheng hurriedly ran down.
Upon opening the door, green eyes met black ones, both filled with similar confusion.
Chu Chen surveyed the person who had opened the door for him, his gaze deep. Skin like porcelain, eyes a light green like pure jade, lips the color of water slightly pursed, and a gentle expression in the eyes, yet it could not conceal a sense of detachment.
Noticing the light blue pajamas on his body, Chu Chen was slightly taken aback.
Aqian would never bring anyone here to stay. Who is this?
"Are you Mingqianās friend?" Jiang Yisheng asked warmly, not minding his scrutiny.
Chu Chen nodded, "Is Aqian not here?"
Jiang Yisheng opened the door wider to let him in, "Heās upstairs."
Chu Chen walked into the living room and casually tossed his luggage bag onto the sofa, comfortably finding a pair of slippers in the shoe cabinet to slip on.
"Why have you come?" The sound of footsteps echoed from the staircase, and Ji Mingqian leisurely descended, his hair half-dry, clearly having just taken a bath.
Chu Chen said, "Ajiu sent me over."
Ji Mingqian glanced at him and revealed an odd smile, "It looks like Ajiu has told you about the situation."
Seeing the schadenfreude on his face, Chu Chen couldnāt hold back his irritation and walked over in two or three steps, grabbing ahold of Ji Mingqianās collar, "Ji Mingqian, are you doing this on purpose?"
This guy definitely wanted to watch a good show. If he had been told the situation earlier, he wouldnāt have said those words to Anuo.
"What do you mean āon purposeā? Youāre occupying my room, and when I told you to open the door, you didnāt. How was I supposed to talk to you?" Ji Mingqian deflected the blame with nonchalance.
"Itās obviously your fault for not listening to the whole story before misunderstanding, it has nothing to do with me."
To the side, Jiang Yisheng watched the two of them, looking like they were about to start fighting, his eyes flickered slightly.
He felt it was a bit dangerous for him to be living here.
"Alright, thereās someone else here, donāt scare them away." Glancing at Jiang Yisheng standing aside, Ji Mingqian pulled away his hand, reminding him.
If they scared him away, both of them would get a beating from Ajiu.
Chu Chen lowered his voice, "Who is that?"
"Li Mochanās cousin." After speaking, Ji Mingqian walked up to Jiang Yisheng,
"Yisheng, this is our friend, Chu Chen, both Ajiu and I know him."
Jiang Yisheng looked at Chu Chen and nodded slightly.
"You guys talk; Iām going back to my room."
With that, he nodded to Ji Mingqian and turned to head upstairs.
Ji Mingqian watched his retreating figure and suddenly remembered the words Ye Jiuliang had spoken. His forehead began to ache.
She had really dropped a difficult problem in his lap.
"Why are you staring at him? Do you like him?" Chu Chen, holding onto his grudge, teased him lightly.
"Get lost." Ji Mingqian redirected his gaze and shot him a cold look.
"I wonder who was acting like they were on their deathbed yesterday."
Hurting each other, whoās afraid of who.
Chu Chen hummed lightly and walked into the kitchen to grab two cans of beer.
He tossed one to Ji Mingqian, pulled the ring tab, and took several gulps.
"Ajiu said she had a way, but what exactly is it?"
Ji Mingqian sat on the sofa and crooked his finger at him, "Lean in."
Chu Chen gave him a skeptical look and leaned in.
Ji Mingqian murmured something in a low voice beside his ear, and under the light, Chu Chenās deep black eyes grew wider and wider.
"Will this really work? What if Anuo doesnāt react at all?"
"Besides, why would she even agree?"
Ji Mingqian knew that if he talked to him about it, he would have a whole bunch of concerns.
"At this point, itās the only way left. If you donāt want to win your wife over quickly, then go explain it to Anuo yourself now and pursue her slowly. Who knows, maybe one day Anuo will really bring home a boyfriend."
"Ji Mingqian, canāt you wish me some good luck?" Chu Chen glared at him, fighting the urge to punch him.
"If I didnāt wish you well, would I be sitting here feeling so wistful?" Ji Mingqian grabbed a cushion and threw it at him, "I still donāt know how to convince him."
Donāt be fooled by Jiang Yishengās constant smile, he is not easy to deceive.
Chu Chen touched his nose with an embarrassed smile, uncharacteristically not fighting back.
**
The next day, the morning breeze blew, and the mist had not yet dispersed.
In a new environment, his biological clock was still very accurate.
Early in the morning, Jiang Yisheng got up, dressed in a sweater and scarf without missing a piece, and quietly went out for a walk.
After strolling for more than an hour, he then leisurely headed back.
After breakfast, he sat in the living room reading a book while also discussing the upcoming tour schedule with his agent.
As the sun climbed high, Ji Mingqian and Chu Chen came down one after the other.
Having stayed at Mo Garden for a few days before, Ji Mingqian had some understanding of Jiang Yishengās daily routine and wasnāt surprised to see him sitting in the living room.
"I bought breakfast, itās in the dining room." Seeing them both come down, Jiang Yisheng said warmly.
Ji Mingqian scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed that, as a guest, he had let him go buy breakfast for them.
"Have you eaten yet?"
Jiang Yisheng hummed, "I have."
Ji Mingqian dragged Chu Chen, and the two of them walked arm in arm to the dining room.
After breakfast, Chu Chen received a phone call and hurried out.
The large house was left with just the two of them again.
Ji Mingqian put down his laptop and glanced at the person reading across from him.
"Yisheng, letās discuss something."
Jiang Yisheng looked up, puzzled, "Hmm?"
"Ahem." Ji Mingqian cleared his throat and briefly explained the situation of Chu Chen and Gu Xinuo.
Jiang Yishengās curly eyelashes trembled lightly, casting a faint shadow under his eyelids, "And then?"
"Then we need you to do us a small favor, which is to dress up as a woman and act out a scene with Chu Chen to see Anuoās reaction," Ji Mingqian said hesitantly.
Dress up as a woman?
A small favor?
Jiang Yishengās mouth twitched slightly. No wonder Jiuliang had been so evasive when he asked her so many times on the plane. So this was the favor she meant.
He suddenly felt like he had been set up.
Jiang Yisheng closed the book, his gaze cool, "I just remembered I have something to do, so Iām going back to the capital. Please tell Jiuliang for me."
Seeing him about to leave, Ji Mingqian vaulted over the table to the opposite sofa, grabbed his arm, and pushed him back down to sit.
