Li Mochan glared at him coldly, his tone indifferent, "Why should I compensate?"
"You blew up our headquarters to smithereens; shouldnât you pay for that?" Chu Chenâs face showed anger, and his deep voice suddenly rose.
And he still had the nerve to ask why he should compensate, as if he had the right to.
Meeting his irritated gaze, Li Mochan remained fearless, "I waited for ten minutes, and you didnât come out."
So, blowing up their headquarters wasnât his fault; it was their fault for coming out too slowly.
Those words undeniably added fuel to the fire, and even Ji Mingqian got angry.
He opened his mouth to complain, "Li Mochan, thatâs not something you can just say; you didnât make your intentions clear when you came, and who knew what you wanted to do. In the dead of night, your fighter jet was black, and nobody could tell that it belonged to Dark Hall."
Ye Jiuliang quietly hid behind Li Mochan, trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible.
She wanted to play ostrich, but Chu Chen wouldnât let her.
"Ajiu, make a stand, whose side are you on?"
The battle was drawn to her, and Ye Jiuliang blinked, innocence brimming in her eyes.
She feigned confusion, "Take a stand on what? Sorry, I just spaced out, didnât catch that."
"Your man wonât pay up, so whose side are you on?" Chu Chen reminded through gritted teeth.
Ye Jiuliang leaned towards Li Mochan, seeking refuge in his arms, "This is between you guys; sort it out yourselves, donât drag me into it."
Whichever side she took, it would do her no good; she chose not to get involved.
Chu Chen laughed bitterly, "Youâre not part of the K organization?"
"Just now you sold me out quite happily." As she said this, Ye Jiuliangâs gaze lingered a bit longer on Ji Mingqian.
Ji Mingqian chuckled sheepishly, muttering, "Well, that was the truth."
Chu Chen brought the conversation back to the main point, his piercing gaze aimed at Li Mochan, "One thing at a time, you blew up our headquarters, and you poached our âcabbage,â how will you settle these two accounts?"
"Exactly, growing a cabbage these days isnât easy; bring out the betrothal gifts." Ji Mingqian echoed, his mental calculations already going rat-a-tat.
Li Mochan lowered his gaze to the person clinging to him, a faint smile on his lips, as warm and tranquil as the winter sun.
He gently pinched her cheek, "Shall we give them the betrothal gifts, hmm?"
Ye Jiuliang glanced at Chu Chen and the others, smiling mischievously, "Nope."
"..."
The sound of a ship capsizing went "plop, plop."
"Sure enough, you canât expect to pull back a cabbage that has been taken by someone else." Ji Mingqian commented.
Chu Chen gave her a disdainful look, "Ye Jiuliang, you faithless creature."
Ye Jiuliang suddenly felt like she was damned if she did, damned if she didnât.
She stood up abruptly, beckoning Gu Xinuo with a curl of her finger, "Anuo, come here."
A gust of wind passed by, and as Chu Chen turned his head, his wife had already disappeared.
Ye Jiuliang looped her arm around Gu Xinuoâs shoulder, a roguish grin on her face, "If we canât reach an agreement, weâll settle it with fists. Anuo and I will sleep together tonight, donât anyone disturb us."
"Agreed! The boxing room is empty; you guys can fight to the death, no need to show us any courtesy." Gu Xinuo leaned into Ye Jiuliang, pretending to be demure, ignoring Chu Chenâs mournful gaze.
"If it gets too rough, Ajiu is responsible for treating your wounds."
"Letâs go, wife." Ye Jiuliang, with an arm still around Gu Xinuoâs shoulder, spoke in a flippant tone.
Gu Xinuo held back laughter and responded in a soft, whiny voice, "Okay, husband."
The two of them walked away arm in arm, leaving behind three men to look at each other in dismay.
Li Mochanâs face darkened, his unfriendly eyes sweeping towards Chu Chen, "Control your woman."
"Iâll return the advice to you." Chu Chen sneered, giving him a contemptuous glance.
She hasnât even called him âhusbandâ yet, so why did Ajiu get there first?
Li Mochan rolled up his sleeves, a flash of deep light in his eyes, "Looking for a fight?"
Having long found Li Mochan irritating, Chu Chen stood up, "If itâs a fight you want, itâs a fight youâll get."
After all, itâs anybodyâs guess who would lose.
Ji Mingqian grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds from the table and stuffed them into his pocket, offering eagerly, "Iâll be the referee for you guys."
In the deep of night, the boxing room welcomed visitors once again.
As for the outcome of the fight, Ye Jiuliang and Gu Xinuo couldnât care less. As soon as they returned to their room, they started fooling around.
"Stop it, stop it, I give up," Ye Jiuliang, who was ticklish, squirmed to the edge of the sofa and nearly rolled off.
Gu Xinuo stopped her teasing and sat upright, "Achen was right, you really do prioritize romance over friendship, Li Mochan, and your grin says it all."
"Not at all."
"What do you mean, not at all? Just look in the mirror, your grin is almost splitting your face."
Ye Jiuliang chuckled lightly and put his arm around her shoulder, "Donât worry, youâre still my main squeeze."
Gu Xinuo brushed away his hand and gave him a sideways glance, "Nice try, as if Iâd believe you."
The moment Li Mochan appeared, the smile on her face hadnât faded, and she finally showed a bit of girlishness.
"By the way, when did you give the necklace to Li Mochan?"
Ye Jiuliang laid back with his hands behind his head, feeling a weight being lifted, "Itâs been a while."
"Looks like a happy event is imminent," joked Gu Xinuo.
Ye Jiuliang, with his legs crossed and eyes half-closed, was brimming with a smile, "Indeed, it is close."
Ever since they made that promise, the sound of the weather forecast could be heard daily from the TV at home.
And Lord Li at her home paid more attention to the weather forecast than to company documents.
Caught off guard, Gu Xinuo blurted out, "Did you guys register for marriage in advance?"
"Not yet, but it should be soon," she said.
The household registration book had been hidden somewhere by the old man, and it would take some effort to sneak it out undetected.
Gu Xinuo stared at her in disbelief, "Are you in such a rush?"
Ye Jiuliang turned and looked at her with mischievous eyes, "I donât believe Achen hasnât mentioned marriage registration to you."
"Thatâs different," Gu Xinuoâs cheeks turned slightly red, before she quickly asked, "Are you... pregnant?"
Ye Jiuliang, "..."
No way in hell.
Without answering, Gu Xinuo felt even more certain, "Well, are you?"
At the end of the question, she received an eye roll, "If I were, do you think I could still jump around like this?"
On second thought, Gu Xinuo felt that made sense; if she were pregnant, Li Mochan would probably keep her tied to his side all the time.
Only then did Gu Xinuo belatedly remember the men they had left behind and said, "If we just run off like this and they actually start fighting, what are we going to do?"
"Then let them fight. Their skin is thick enough, they wonât get hurt, and besides, isnât that how menâs friendships are forged?" Ye Jiuliang said nonchalantly.
Gu Xinuo couldnât help but laugh and cry at the same time, "Only Li Mochan can handle you, the Demon King."
Ye Jiuliang picked up a beer from the table, took a swig, and sighed contentedly.
"What do you think happened to Mo Lingling, havenât seen her around at all?" Gu Xinuoâs smile faded, her brows knitted with concern.
Indeed, keeping a tiger is asking for trouble; they should never have let her have it too easy in the beginning.
"With Mo Linglingâs temperament, she wonât be able to lay low for long. As soon as she dares make a move, Aqian will find her," Ye Jiuliangâs gaze turned sharp, his voice chilling.
