"Asheng,"
Veya came out of Old Madam Jiangās room and saw Jiang Yisheng and a few others lingering at the door; she quickened her steps to approach them.
"Mom."
Jiang Yisheng turned to look at her, her expression slightly solemn.
"How is grandmother?"
"Sheās fine, just a bit startled. Sheāll be okay after some rest," said Veya, her eyes full of worry as she glanced toward the slightly ajar room door.
"How is Ahan doing?"
Jiang Yisheng said, "He hasnāt woken up yet. Wei Nan is inside examining cousin."
"How could he faint so suddenly without any reason? Itās absolutely maddening." Veya frowned, muttering to herself.
There werenāt any injuries on him, so how could he have suddenly fallen unconscious?
Just then, Wei Nan emerged from the room, holding a folded tissue in his hand.
Jiang Hai and the others swarmed up to him.
Wei Bei asked anxiously, "How is our Lord doing?"
"The situation is still unclear. I found a silver needle on our Lordās arm. It seems to be because of this silver needle that our Lord suddenly fell into unconsciousness," explained Wei Nan as he unfolded his hand, revealing the tissue with a silver needle lying quietly on top of it.
Jiang Yishengās face twisted. "Is it poisoned?"
Wei Nan secured the silver needle and said with a serious and defensive expression, "Iāve already checked our Lord, and there is no sign of poisoning. I canāt determine the reason for our Lordās unconsciousness at the moment."
That was the part that puzzled him. There was no poisoning, yet he was unconscious. There must be something odd about this silver needle.
"How could this happen?" Lord Liās face turned deathly pale.
"Jiuliang will definitely have a way. Wei Bei, call Jiuliang. I canāt get in touch with her," Jiang Yisheng said as he grabbed Wei Beiās arm urgently.
He had also called Ji Mingqian, but no one answered. Jiuliang was such a skilled doctor; she must have a way to wake cousin up.
Wei Bei said, "Iāve already notified the Madam. She is on her way back."
Jiang Hai looked toward the man lying in the room and said, "Wei Nan, is there really no other way?" Behind the lenses of his glasses, his eyes were filled with concern.
Wei Nan shook his head. "Iāve fed our Lord a Detoxification Pill. Other than being unconscious, there are no signs of discomfort on our Lordās body. Iām going to test the silver needle first."
"Then you should hurry," urged Wei Bei.
"You stay here with our Lord," Wei Nan instructed before he left first.
At this moment, our Lord couldnāt be left alone; who knew if those people would make a return strike?
**
That night, everything was consumed by darkness.
During dinner, the food on the table was untouched. With Li Mochan unconscious, everyone naturally had no appetite.
Old Madam Jiang woke up and, upon learning that Li Mochan had been ambushed while saving her, immediately teared up. She stayed in his bedroom and refused to leave, insisting she would wait until Li Mochan woke up.
She wasnāt alone; Lord Li did the same, spending the entire afternoon in Li Mochanās room without taking a single step away.
"How is it, are they still not willing to come down for dinner?" Veya reheated the food, and when she saw Jiang Yisheng coming downstairs, she went to him and asked.
Jiang Yisheng sighed and shook his head lightly.
Veya patted his hand. "Iāll go up and persuade them."
The elderly canāt afford to go hungry like they can; it would be terrible if they harmed their health.
In the large bedroom, the crystal chandelier hanging in mid-air refracted a soft halo of light.
The atmosphere was oppressive and desolate.
Beside the bed, two chairs sat on either side. Old Madam Jiang and Lord Li were each seated in one, their gazes never leaving the person lying there unconscious.
The manās meticulously sculpted features were striking, and his eyes, full of charm when open, were tightly closed now. His healthy complexion showed no signs of poisoning; to the uninformed, it might look as if he were merely sleeping.
Old Madam Jiang raised a hand to wipe away the tears at the corner of her eyes and prattled on, "Ahan, you have to wake up soon. Xiaojiu is coming back. Do you really want to worry her?"
"She is still waiting to get the marriage license with you, you..."
Towards the end, her crying intensified, and the old lady choked up, losing her voice.
Veya walked in, seeing the elderly Mrs. Jiang wiping her tears again, her gentle eyebrows shadowed with worry.
She went to Mrs. Jiangās side, lifted her hand to her shoulder, and consoled her softly, "Mom, Mohan wonāt have anything wrong with him, donāt be sad. Xiaojiu and Wei Nan will definitely make sure Mohan is safe and sound."
Mrs. Jiang covered her lips and sobbed lowly, if not for saving her, Mohan wouldnāt have ended up like this.
Suddenly, the fingertips of Li Mochanās right hand curled slightly. From Mr. Liās angle, he spotted this with sharp eyes.
Thinking that Li Mochan was about to wake up, Mr. Liās eyes burst with astonishing brightness.
He hurriedly spoke to the person on the phone outside the window, "Wei Bei, quickly get Wei Nan here, Mohanās hand moved."
Hearing this, Mrs. Jiang and Veya stared at Li Mochanās hand with both nervousness and anticipation.
After notifying Wei Nan, Wei Bei rushed over and cast his gaze towards the person on the bed.
The brilliant lights cut down, softening the coldness between the manās brows, and his thick eyelashes trembled lightly.
Following that, those dark eyes slowly opened, still as an ancient pond, obscure and inscrutable.
"Mohan."
"Master."
Everyone showed excitement, and the two elders were so overjoyed that they wept.
Li Mochan watched them quietly, the confusion fading away in the depths of his eyes.
"Master, whatās wrong with you?" Seeing that he remained silent, Wei Beiās initial excitement was replaced by worry.
Li Mochan was expressionless, as if he hadnāt heard them at all.
Footsteps approached the door hastily and chaotically.
Wei Nan and the others ran in one after another, including Wei Xi who had hurried back.
Wei Bei and the others stepped aside, and Wei Nan approached with the medical box.
"Master."
He spoke softly, reaching out to touch Li Mochanās wrist.
However, Li Mochan threw off the blanket, blocking his hand and sat up abruptly, his cool gaze making it hard for others to breathe.
Wei Nanās face was full of astonishment; his hand swung away, frozen in mid-air, "Master?"
The others were also bewildered by his actions.
Jiang Yisheng stepped forward, "Cousin, whatās wrong with you?"
"Back off." Li Mochan commanded coldly, his chilling aura poured out from him as the center, with a defensive edge to it.
Everyone exchanged glances.
Their eyes filled with confusion and doubt.
"Mohan, whatās wrong with you, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere? Donāt scare us," Mrs. Jiangās eyes reddened with urgency.
In the end, it was still Wei Nan who noticed something was off with Li Mochan.
He looked towards Jiang Yisheng and the others, "You all step back."
Not understanding Wei Nanās intention, but still without asking much, they followed his instructions and stepped back a few paces.
Yet, that aggressive and fierce aura did not lessen in the slightest.
Wei Nan withdrew his gaze to look at him and asked tentatively, "Master, do you still recognize us?"
Their voices were neither too loud nor too soft, and Jiang Yisheng and the others heard every word, a foreboding feeling enveloping them.
Wei Nan asking this, could it be...
Mohan has amnesia?
The suspicion had barely arisen before everyoneās first reaction was already one of disbelief.
