The middle-aged man stood up and sneaked a glance at Li Mochan, nervously reporting his work.
The lengthy report echoed in the meeting room one wave after another, lingering for a long time.
After the last person finished their report, the meeting room suddenly fell into silence.
The young man lifted his hand and gently touched the frame of his glasses on the bridge of his nose, cautiously glanced at the person seated at the head of the table, and slowly sat down.
From the beginning to the end, Li Mochan hadnât said a word.
The more silent he was, the more the people sitting beside him couldnât figure out his thoughts, and the more terrified they became.
Li Mochan closed the file and casually threw it onto the table.
"Snapâ"
Everyoneâs hearts trembled along with the sound, and they couldnât help but swallow hard.
"The development zone hasnât even started construction yet and weâve already given the other side a five percent advantage. The subsequent work is complicated, and thereâs no clearly designated person in charge," Li Mochan leaned back, casting a sidelong glance at them with his soul-capturing ink-dark eyes, a cold light flashed.
"Is this the best plan you can come up with?"
The low and cold voice was like a chilling breeze, making people shiver uncontrollably.
The plan of fooling Li Mochan, hoping his memory loss would make things easier for them, fell through; everyone bowed their heads, their complexions slightly pale.
Li Mochan stood up, sweeping his profound gaze over everyone, "If thereâs no new plan by tomorrow afternoon, leave and let your resignation letters remain."
Everyone nodded hastily, "Yes."
Securing a position at MK Group was an incredibly difficult feat; very few were willing to leave, especially considering the salary and benefits were rarely matched by others.
Wei Bei also stood up, curved his finger and knocked on the tabletop, deliberately rattling them, "Clear your heads, MK Group doesnât keep the incompetent, put away your little schemes."
There was no need for their master to attend this meeting today; showing up was to dispel certain speculations and unwarranted scheming.
Everyone hung their heads low, and hearing the latter half of Wei Beiâs words, their anxiety intensified.
Only after Li Mochan and Wei Bei had walked far away did everyone finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"It looks like the president hasnât lost his memory at all, heâs still as terrifying as ever."
"Exactly, the moment he looked at me, I felt like I was suffocating."
That was a close call, felt like Iâd just walked in front of the King of Hell.
...
Before evening, the entrance to the VI Club was deserted.
In the private room, Ye Jiuliang sat at the table, which was covered with carving tools.
A small section of the surface of the Mysterious Iron in front of her was already carved.
She dropped the small dagger in her hand, flexing her sore wrist.
This damn thing is really hard to carve.
Itâs both exhausting and taxing.
"Knock knockâ"
Two knocks on the door stopped.
"Come in."
The door wasnât locked, a slight turn of the doorknob and it opened.
The footsteps didnât sound like Xue Wuâs; Ye Jiuliang raised her head and looked into the manâs teasing dark eyes, curling her lips into a smile.
"How come youâre here?"
Li Mochan walked to the table, his eyes scanning the items on it, his lips curving slightly, "Have you been busy with this all morning?"
Ye Jiuliang hummed in acknowledgment, circled around the table and walked to his side.
"Nothing at the company?"
Li Mochan glanced at the Mysterious Iron and nodded lightly.
"So, youâll accompany me this afternoon?" Ye Jiuliang lifted her hand to hook around his neck, hanging on him as if it had become a habit.
Li Mochan chuckled, "Is there a benefit for me?"
He still knows to look for benefits, this kid.
Ye Jiuliang teased, "Li Mochan, like this I really might suspect youâve regained your memory already."
"Whyâs that?"
"Because you were just as scheming before, always asking me for benefits," she complained.
Li Mohan watched her with a smile that was not quite a smile, "So, what benefits have you given me?"
"Trying to pry secrets from me?" Ye Jiuliang saw through his thoughts and huffed lightly, "I wonât tell you; youâll have to guess on your own."
Li Mohan reached out and gently scratched the tip of her nose, "Canât you be less clever?"
"I canât, Iâm afraid youâll trick me." Ye Jiuliang rested her head on his shoulder, her smile making her eyes curve up.
Li Mohan showed a helpless expression, "Who is tricking who, exactly?"
"Obviously, itâs you tricking me, Lord. This face of mine just looks so innocent."
Li Mohan pretended to examine her face seriously, "Whereâs the innocence? I just donât see it."
"Fine, youâre sleeping on the couch tonight." Ye Jiuliang hopped down from him, standing firm on both feet.
"Lord wonât serve you anymore."
She had just taken a step when the manâs iron arm stuck to her, firmly wrapping around her waist.
A deep voice sounded by her ear, "Who exactly is serving whom, hm?"
Ye Jiuliang struggled to keep her smile in check, grudgingly admitting, "Lord serves you."
Li Mohanâs eyes narrowed dangerously, his arm lifting her, trapping her in his embrace.
"It seems last night I didnât serve well enough. Shall we continue now?"
Ye Jiuliang grinned, pushing against his shoulders, "Stop, stop, Iâm hungry. Lord, Iâm treating you to a meal."
"Then who is serving whom?" Li Mohan stubbornly persisted.
Ye Jiuliang, torn between laughter and tears, "You serve me, okay?"
She was truly at her witâs end with him.
Li Mohan let go of her, smoothing out her slightly disheveled hair, "What do you want to eat?"
"Letâs go to Jiangyue Restaurant. Iâve also invited Aqian."
Li Mohan frowned, his tone clearly expressing disdain, "Why invite him?"
Ye Jiuliang pointed to the Mysterious Iron on the table, "He drew the design; there are some details I need to ask him about."
Speaking, she pinched his chin lightly, "Why do you dislike him so much?"
This disdain had been the same from the past to the present.
Li Mohan turned his head away, "Why do I need a reason to dislike him."
Ye Jiuliang held back her laughter, pulling his hand to walk outside.
"Letâs go, my Lord Li the Fifth."
...
When they arrived at Jiangyue Restaurant, Ye Jiuliang also ran into two familiar faces.
"Asheng, how come you two are also here to eat?" Ye Jiuliang spotted Jiang Yisheng coming down from Feng Yiâs car and walked over.
Feng Yi closed the car door, looking up at them, "Got hungry and came over to find something to eat. What are you two doing here?"
Ye Jiuliang said, "The same."
"Then letâs eat together." Feng Yi suggested, "The more the merrier."
Ye Jiuliang joked, "Are you treating?"
"Youâre the president of MK Group now and still so stingy." Feng Yi rolled his eyes and teased without reservation.
The group chatted and laughed as they made their way into a private room.
When Feng Yi heard the order for five sets of tableware, he looked up from the menu, puzzled, and turned to Ye Jiuliang, "Is someone else coming?"
"Aqian will arrive later." Ye Jiuliang said.
Jiang Yishengâs gaze flickered, his mind clearly not on the content of the menu.
"Asheng, have you decided yet?" Seeing that Jiang Yisheng had been pondering over the menu for a long time, Feng Yi asked.
Jiang Yisheng closed the menu and placed it aside, smiling faintly, "Iâm not picky, you all decide."
Feng Yi furrowed his brows, inquiring, "Asheng, I heard from Wen Rang that you were distracted in the meeting this morning. Whatâs wrong?"
The same thing happened in the car; he had talked a bunch and Asheng had barely responded.
"Itâs nothing, I drank too much yesterday and my head is still a bit foggy." Jiang Yisheng found an excuse and calmly lied.
Hearing this, the corners of Feng Yiâs mouth twitched slightly.
Can a single drink make one dizzy for so long?
