Fortunately, he quickly recovered, "Master Jiu."
Ye Jiuliang gave a slight nod, "Cease operations."
As she spoke, she supported Li Mochan into the elevator, with Wei Bei following close by to assist.
Once inside their private room, Ye Jiuliang busied herself with settling Li Mochan in, while Wei Bei excused himself and left.
As she turned around, she saw Xue Wu waiting by the door.
The two exchanged a glance and nodded at each other.
It was at this moment that Ye Jiuliang came out through the door.
Wei Bei and Xue Wu both looked over as Ye Jiuliang spoke in a steady voice, "Wei Bei, you go back to Mo Garden first. Tell them thereâs no need to come over. Once Mohan wakes up, weâll naturally return."
Wei Bei gave a solemn nod, "Madam, what about the rumors outside?"
If it hadnât been for this sudden incident, they would have been ready to quell those rumors in the next couple of days.
Ye Jiuliangâs voice was indifferent, "Let them be, let them spread."
Whoever started it, she would naturally deal with them one by one when she was free.
Wei Bei understood.
...
Mo Chen returned to Mo Garden after class and as soon as he stepped into the living room, he sensed that something was amiss.
Everyone was frowning, the usual laughter nowhere to be seen.
Familiar with Jiang Yisheng, Mo Chen approached him and quietly asked, "Brother Yisheng, has something happened?"
Jiang Yisheng patted his head and curved his lips into a slight smile, "No worries."
"Why isnât Sister Ajiu at home?" Mo Chen looked around but did not see Ye Jiuliang.
"Brother Mohan is sick, and your Sister Ajiu has gone to take care of him," Jiang Yisheng said gently.
The Ice Mountain brother-in-law is sick?
Mo Chen was stunned for a moment and then, glancing at the others, he understood the reason for everyoneâs worried expressions.
He scratched his head; if the Ice Mountain brother-in-law was sick, Sister Ajiu definitely wouldnât be happy.
...
As the lights began to shine at the start of the evening, the blurry night carried a hint of vague beauty.
The entrance of the VI club was marked with a "Closed for Business" sign, and arriving guests turned back and left, making it unusually quiet.
The gleaming moonlight was barred by the shut windows, with the pale blue curtains obstructing the bustling night view outside.
A faint scent of medicinal herbs permeated the air, refreshing and elegant.
The vast desk was piled with various precious herbs and reagents, bewildering to look at.
Suddenly, a ringtone from a cell phone pierced the silence.
Ye Jiuliang put down the reagent, freed her hand to take the phone, and slid to answer, "Anuo."
Hearing the fatigue in her voice, Gu XaXinuoi Nuoâs brow furrowed, "Ajiu, donât push yourself too hard."
She knew what Li Mochan meant to Ajiu. As long as Mohan didnât wake up, Ajiu wouldnât allow herself a momentâs rest.
"I know." Ye Jiuliang uttered a hum, lifting her hand to rub the sore spot between her brows.
"Has the stuff been sent over?"
Gu Xinuo said, "I gave it to Aqian, and he should arrive there in about two or three hours."
Ye Jiuliang responded with a good.
After hanging up the phone, a chilling loneliness swept over her, lingering around.
Ye Jiuliang put down the phone and walked softly to the bedside.
The wall sconces on both sides cast a gentle light, adding a sparkling and warm atmosphere.
The pristine, soft carpet silenced the footsteps completely, as Ye Jiuliang kicked off her slippers and sat cross-legged on the bed.
Her gaze dropped, the manâs overly refined features monopolized her field of vision.
Ye Jiuliang reached out, her fingertips brushing his cheek.
The faint warmth and his steady breathing soothed the unease in her heart.
"Mohan, how long are you going to sleep this time? Will you forget about me again when you wake up?"
As the words came out, Ye Jiuliangâs rosy lips could no longer maintain a smile.
"Letâs get one thing straight, if you forget me again, I wonât have your babies."
Her cool voice choked slightly, dissipating into the air, leaving behind only a room full of silence.
Well past one in the morning, Ji Mingqian arrived at the V.I. club, travel-weary.
As soon as he entered, he saw Xue Wu dozing off at the bar.
The sound of footsteps startled Xue Wu, who suddenly snapped awake, his eyes brightening upon seeing the heavily-cloaked man.
"Boss Mingqian."
Ji Mingqian raised his hand to remove his hat and mask, tossing out a teasing comment with casual ease, "You have good eyesight."
Looking around at the unusual quiet, "Whereâs Ajiu?"
"Master Jiu is in her room, she hasnât had dinner yet," Xue Wu scratched his head, sounding somewhat melancholy.
"She didnât eat dinner?" Ji Mingqian frowned, "I havenât eaten either. Go prepare some food and bring it to Ajiuâs room."
"Yes."
Carrying a backpack with one hand and a medical kit with the other, Ji Mingqian quickened his steps up the stairs.
When he found the private room where Ye Jiuliang was, the door was tightly shut and locked.
He raised his hand to knock on the door, a half-hearted couple of taps.
"Knock knockâ"
It wasnât long before the person inside opened the door.
Seeing her haggard face, Ji Mingqian couldnât help furrowing his brow, "Ajiu, how did you end up like this?"
"The medical kit." Ye Jiuliang didnât waste words and took the little box from his hand.
Ji Mingqian walked into the room, and out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the person lying on the bed, looking slightly taken aback.
Still not awake?
Rustling sounds reached his ears, and Ji Mingqian turned to see the medical kit opened and all the medicine taken out by Ye Jiuliang.
Seeing the weariness in her brows and eyes, Ji Mingqian poured a cup of water, walked to the table, and placed the cup by her side, "Ajiu, you should rest a bit. Donât end up collapsing before Li Mochan wakes up."
Ye Jiuliang ignored him, focusing all her attention on mixing the medicine.
To her, nothing was more important than Li Mochan waking up.
Knowing her stubbornness, Ji Mingqian didnât continue to persuade herâafter all, it would be futile.
An idea formed in his mind as his gaze shifted.
Striding over with his long legs, he reached the bedside in just a few steps.
Pulling up a chair to sit by the bed, he glanced at the man still lost in sleep and cleared his throat.
"Li Mochan, to tell you the truth, if Ajiu hadnât chosen you, I wouldâve competed with you until the end. Let me give you a rundown, Iâve been childhood sweethearts with Ajiu, weâve gone through hills and seas togetherâthink of all the precious memories. Maybe if you hear this, it will stimulate you, maybe youâll wake up." He started to ramble on, hoping that Li Mochan might get agitated by his words and wake up.
Ye Jiuliang glanced at him with distraction and did not stop him, letting him prattle on.
"When we were kids, the trouble Ajiu caused always ended with me being punished. Think about it, if not for affection, who would indulge her like that, right?"
"We both love riding motorcycles so much that the people at the bike club used to say we were a match made in heaven. If you hadnât made your move so quickly, Ajiu should have become my wife."
As Ji Mingqian spoke, he got more and more into it, constantly watching for any sign of Li Mochan waking up.
"Li Mochan, if you donât wake up soon, Iâm going to whisk Ajiu back to Country Y. Although that would mean Ajiu would be on her second marriage, I donât mind her past. If we end up getting married, weâll definitely have you over for the wedding toast."
