The cold wind whipped against the windows, its howling in the black night adding a few notes of desolation.
The atmosphere in the bedroom had plummeted to freezing, oppressively so.
"Mo Yuan, Iām your wife, this is our bedroom. If you canāt stay in the study, then go to the guest room. Why must you embarrass me like this?" Mo Yu clenched her fists, a look of utter heartbreak on her face.
To outsiders, it might appear that they respected each other as husband and wife, but only she knew that they were spouses in name only. She was the only one who lived in this bedroom, and whenever he was at home over the years, he always stayed in the study.
Not even for one night had he ever stayed in this bedroom.
Even though he remembered nothing, why wouldnāt he get close to her, or fully accept her? Hadnāt he felt any of her kindness toward him?
Mo Yuan turned around, his expression indifferent, "Itās late, stop making a fuss."
Feeling like her punch had landed on cotton, Mo Yu felt utterly powerless.
She walked slowly toward him, reaching out to grab his hand.
Before she could even touch the hem of his clothing, the man stepped back, and she grasped at air.
Mo Yuās face turned pale, her hand that had hung in the air slowly clenched tight, then limply fell to her side.
"Mo Yuan, after so many years, isnāt my care for you enough? Do you still doubt me in any way?" she said, her voice filled with grievance.
"I gave birth to two children for you. What could you possibly still doubt about me? Why do you keep pushing me away, time after time? What did I do wrong to deserve such cruelty from you?"
Meeting the tearful gaze in her eyes, Mo Yuanās eyes were calm, "No."
"If thatās the case, then why do you treat me this way? Weāre husband and wife, arenāt we?" Mo Yuās eyes kindled with hope, "Isnāt it normal for spouses to share the same room? So, why do you insist on staying in the guest room?"
"There are still many documents waiting for me to deal with. You should rest first," Mo Yuan said unhurriedly.
"Thatās your excuse every time." Mo Yuās complexion changed, her tone barely containing her anger.
"Mo Yuan, do you really think Iām that easy to fool?"
Mo Yuan remained silent, turning his head to leave the bedroom.
Swift footsteps rang out beside him, as Mo Yu rushed forward to block his path, her eyes shimmering with tears, "Not even for one night, you wonāt stay here?"
Mo Yuan lost his patience, "Stop it."
"Am I the one making a scene?" Mo Yu pressed forward, her voice choking up, "Mo Yuan, youāre too cruel to me. You hardly ever come home, and I donāt blame you. But now that you are back, you still donāt want to share a room with me, preferring the guest room instead. If word gets out, how am I supposed to face people? What am I supposed to do with my dignity?"
"If thatās the case, Iāll try to come home less in the future," Mo Yuan twisted her words, speaking indifferently.
At his words, Mo Yu felt even more humiliated. She grabbed his arm, and her sharp nails accidentally pierced the wound on his arm.
A faint smell of blood drifted out, and Mo Yu froze, "Mo Yuan, you..."
He had an injury on his arm?
Mo Yuanās expression was cold as he pulled away her hand and stepped toward the door. He reached out, opened the door, and left without looking back.
Mo Yu stood there in a daze, her face a mask of indiscernible emotions.
When had he received that injury?
"Madam." Aqiao walked in, seeing Mo Yu frozen in place, and called out cautiously.
Mo Yu came back to her senses, her voice icy, "Go find out where Mo Yuan got that injury on his arm."
Upon hearing this, Aqiao felt a surge of surprise but didnāt ask further, "Yes."
