Chapter 128: Chapter 127: Song
As soon as Song Wei finished speaking, Xu Shu muttered, "So boring!"
Doesnât he know some things should be understood but not spoken aloud?
Itâs also that fraudulent Confucian student who messed up the job for him, took the money and did a bad job. Wrote such a crappy article that his father, with his already low cultural level, couldnât understand a few sentences, guessed heâd hired someone to ghostwrite, and gave his own son a heavy beating.
Luckily, his father showed some mercy and didnât hit his face, otherwise he wouldnât have made it out the door today.
Song Wei reached out and took Xu Shuâs snack box, "Iâll leave the matter of finding the Divine Doctor to you."
That attitude of asking for help was passable, at least.
Xu Shuâs expression finally improved a bit, "My dad said if he doesnât see my original work in three days, heâll skin me. So, you think about it!"
After a pause, he continued, "I just donât like staying in this Imperial College full of boring sayings, feels like being in prison. Why not, have the tutoring at your place?"
Song Wei didnât refuse, "If you want to come, thatâs fine, but the tea fee is extra."
Xu Shu exploded, "Hey! Thatâs not how classmates treat each other!"
Song Wei glanced back, giving him a smile, "Even brothers have to have clear accounts, not to mention, what bad luck for you to have such a poor classmate like me?"
Xu Shu took a deep breath and consoled himself, "Fine, just think of it as a charitable act to help out a disaster victim, as bros do."
It wasnât until the evening, when Xu Shu arrived at Song Weiâs alleyway courtyard, that he truly realized he was indeed helping out a disaster victim.
Standing in a courtyard not even half the size of their lotus pond, Xu Shuâs expression was indescribable, "This... is this the family youâre boarding with?"
Song Wei couldnât be bothered to pretend, speaking plainly, "Itâs my own family."
"Thatâs not bad, not bad at all. The little yard is quaint, I like it," Xu Shu replied.
Song Wei automatically ignored the insincerity on his face, pushing open the study door, "Come in!"
After Xu Shu sat down, Song Wei went to the main house.
He hadnât eaten the snack box from this morning, not being fond of sweets. Hearing Xu Shu say itâs the most famous Five-Colored Cake from Eight Treasures Building in the Capital, he brought it back, asking Wen Wan to steam it for the sisters-in-law to eat, as he didnât want any. Then he instructed Song Fang to boil water and make tea to bring to the study, saying there was a guest today.
The sisters-in-law tacitly didnât ask who Song Weiâs guest was.
They had just arrived, and whoever Song Wei could get to know and bring back so quickly could only be a classmate.
Song Fang was efficient, quickly bringing the brewed tea to the study.
Song Wei was explaining the lesson taught by the School Principal to Xu Shu.
Xu Shu had no interest in the teachersâ fancy words, so Song Wei explained in a straightforward and easy-to-understand way, digging deep.
For the first time seeing someone make the dull written words come alive and interesting, Xu Shu was captivated, listening with great interest.
Suddenly, a cup of tea was placed on the table in front of him, and Xu Shu looked up to see a small girl holding a tea tray, glancing at Song Wei, blurting out, "Your wife?"
"What nonsense are you talking?" Song Fang frowned, casting a sideways glance at Xu Shu, clearly not having a good impression of this guest.
"Oh, I get it, maid?" Xu Shu continued to let his imagination run wild.
Song Fang couldnât bear it any longer, turning to Song Wei, "Third Brother, what kind of friend have you made? No manners at all!"
The distinguished young master from the Capital being dismissed as impolite by a rural village girl was quite embarrassing for Xu Shu. Yet this embarrassment was not easy to retrieve, since he had offended them with his very first words.
Seeing Song Wei was planning to stand aside and not intervene, Xu Shu was filled with frustration with nowhere to vent, twisting a bit, and settled on a form of address, "Song, Little, Sister! Is that better then?"
Song Fang ignored him, turning around and leaving.
