Gan Xiangyu and the others watched as the mighty city lord of Wushuang City fell. Two Divine Weapon shards burst out from his body.
The Heavenly Thunder twin swords were his only two Divine Weapons, both at 9-Star God grade. They made for excellent materials, so Han Wu collected them to use for upgrading his own Divine Weapons.
His gaze swept across the opposing group from the Divine Civilization. âWho here dares to stop me?â
The group immediately snapped out of their frozen shock and retreated several steps back.
Han Wu was strong enough to kill the city lord of Wushuang City, let alone them. The only thing that could protect their lives was the College Allianceâs instructions. Even then, they strongly suspected that if they dared to block his path again, he would ignore it and slaughter them all.
âNow tell me where Hei Qi is,â Han Wu demanded, grabbing Gan Xiangyu.
All of Gan Xiangyuâs Divine Weapons had been shattered and had yet to reform, meaning he couldnât even muster the strength to resist.
âIf you donât speak, Iâll be sure to slaughter every single student from the Warfare College,â Han Wu threatened.
Gan Xiangyu faced a difficult situation. On one side was his sworn brother, whom he had known since childhood, and on the other was his collegeâs future.
Han Wu was forcing him to choose between his two loyalties. In the end, Gan Xiangyu decided on a third option: not to choose at all!
Gan Xiangyuâs clone exploded. Blood and flesh splattered all over Han Wu. Death became a final rebellion against Han Wuâs ultimatum.
Stunned, Han Wu coolly wiped the blood from his face. âA true man indeed. When I return to the Divine Civilization, I will befriend you.â
His gaze then turned to the others from the Divine Civilization. Having killed the city lord of Wushuang City and even forcing Gan Xiangyu to commit suicide, the others dared not go against him.
âI donât know, donât look at me!â
âI donât know either!â
âI... I might as well just die too!â With a boom, another Warfare College student committed suicide to protect the secret that even Gan Xiangyu refused to reveal.
Han Wu couldnât help but secretly admire their resolve. This exam in the Divine Weapon Civilization brought significant benefits to those who survived. Yet, some of them were willing to give that up out of loyalty.
âSince no one wants to speak, you can all return to the Divine Civilization together!â Han Wu thundered.
Of course, this was only a threat. He didnât actually plan to kill all of them. After all, the College Allianceâs words still had some sway over him. He wanted to continue his studies at the Imperial College and go to the Chaotic Starfield in his fourth year, so he couldnât outright ignore their instructions.
Fortunately, his intimidation worked.
âDonât attack,â a person said, stepping forward. âI might have a clue about the person youâre looking for.â
He wasnât a student from the Warfare College but from another college who came to join the War Clan. The furious students from the Warfare College glared daggers at him. Gan Xiangyu and several seniors had chosen to die for that secret!
âDonât glare at me like that. Iâm not from your college. I want to live until the end of the contest for the legendary Armament Spirit. Is that so wrong? Hei Qi is also from the Divine Civilization. Is his life more valuable than ours? Why should I be sacrificed for him? Why should everyone here be sacrificed?
âYou can hate me now, but I think youâll be thanking me once we leave the Divine Weapon Civilization and receive our rewards!â Then, turning to Han Wu, the student said, âI saw Gong Jun dragging Hei Qi into a secret chamber inside the War Clan. I can take you there!â
âGood, lead the way.â Han Wu wasnât worried about being deceived, as such an act brought no benefits and would only result in death.
The student led Han Wuâs group into Wushuang City.
Inside Wushuang City, various noble families had learned of the city lordâs death and sent their finest warriors to assassinate Han Wuâs group. However, under the protection of nearly 9 million Small Locust Blades, no one could harm him.
Han Wu killed a large number of powerful assassins and absorbed a considerable amount of essence. The ninth Divine Weapon in his Divine Weapon Atlas was soon unlocked, but he had no time to check it. Instead, he followed the student to the War Clanâs secret chamber.
âInside is the War Clanâs secret chamber. I was fortunate enough to enter and select several precious materials to upgrade my own Divine Weapons once,â the student said respectfully.
Han Wu used his Heavenly Demon Spike to smash open the door to the secret chamber. Inside was a mountain of materials. There was also the sound of someone fleeing in panic. Hastily giving chase, he made it just in time to see Gong Junâs back as he carried Hei Qi away.
âKill them!â Han Wu activated the Freespirited Ape God technique to increase his speed as he rushed forward.
Qin Shuang and Sun Qingnian couldnât keep up at all.
Han Wu rapidly closed the distance. Realizing he wouldnât be able to shake him off, Gong Jun decisively used his final trump card.
As one of the War Clanâs founders, Gong Jun controlled a large amount of resources. Among them was a secret realm from the city lord of Wushuang City. Inside existed a large number of mutated beasts for the War Clanâs members to train.
This secret realm had become Gong Junâs best way to escape Han Wu. Opening a portal, he rushed in, still carrying Hei Qi. He then started to close the portal behind him.
Unfortunately for him, he had severely underestimated Han Wuâs speed. The Freespirited Ape God technique allowed Han Wu to boost his acceleration in an instant, allowing him to enter the secret realm right behind Gong Jun.
The gate closed. Qin Shuang and Sun Qingnian watched helplessly as Han Wu disappeared without a trace.
âThat was reckless of him. What if thereâs a trap inside?â Qin Shuang complained.
Ever confident in Han Wu, Sun Qingnian comforted her. âDonât worry. Even if thereâs a trap, I believe Han Wu will return safely.â
Sun Qingnianâs reassurance put Qin Shuang slightly more at ease.
***
The first thing Han Wu felt upon entering the secret realm was endless heat. The second was emptiness beneath his feet.
Gong Jun had unexpectedly set the gate in mid-air and was fleeing on a flying Divine Weapon! Meanwhile, Han Wu plunged into the sea of lava below.
Staring at the churning lava, Gong Jun breathed a sigh of relief before letting out a contemptuous scoff. âHmph, brainless idiot. The magma below will burn you to ashes. Donât you know not to pursue a desperate enemy?â
This secret realm required those who entered to stay at least a day before they could leave. Thus, Gong Jun had no choice but to find a place and wait for Hei Qi to recover from his injuries before making other plans. As he flew off, he failed to notice a figure slowly rising from where Han Wu had fallen.
