Chapter 811 - Lovesick

Han Wu and Qin Shuang studied the Magic Seal Breaker immediately after obtaining it. Learning a ten-Ring unsealing technique posed no great challenge to Han Wu with his twelve-Ring cultivation, and he fully mastered it within half a day.

Doing so allowed him to understand how the Magic Seal Breaker could undo a fifteen-Ring Magic Sealing Wave seal despite only being a ten-Ring unsealing technique. The Magic Seal Breaker only worked on the Magic Sealing Wave and not any other seal art, even a one-Ring seal. With that context, the ten-Ring rating on the Magic Seal Breaker seemed almost superfluous.

It took Qin Shuang three days before she, too, mastered the Magic Seal Breaker. Their mission was a success. Before leaving, their teacher, Elder Tu Bie, presented them with parting gifts on behalf of the Sealing Gate Sect.

Qin Shuang received a short blade. It was no ordinary weapon. Eleven-Ring Seal Arts had been inscribed into it, and sealed within was an eleven-Ring Thunder Crane. The seal could be broken during critical moments to release the Thunder Crane and launch an attack. When not in use, the seal could be closed to draw the creature back in. It was practical and convenient.

Han Wu, on the other hand, received a powerful twelve-Ring seal technique called the Five Element Seal—the complete version of it at that. The founder of the Sealing Gate Sect had created this technique, but no member since then had had the talent and all five elemental affinities to master it. This was why the Sealing Gate Sect had to split the technique across five divisions, with five elders combining their efforts to perform a watered-down version of it.

Han Wu was thrilled when he received the technique. This was the most powerful seal art he had ever come across. He didn’t yet know what it was capable of in a different civilization, but he was already itching to get back to the Divine Civilization and test it.

After bidding farewell to Elder Tu Bie and the others, Han Wu and Qin Shuang communicated with the Sealed Civilization’s Will to leave the place. When they passed back through the membrane of the Sealed Civilization’s Will, Han Wu’s full power came flooding back into him. His abilities, Divine Aspects, Divine Authority, Divine Jurisdictions, Divine Skills, and physical strength all returned at once.

The same happened to Qin Shuang. However, though she had already grasped the initial form of the Lightning Jurisdiction, she still needed to return to the Divine Civilization to complete her Major God ascension.

The pair then journeyed back to Imperial College in the Divine Civilization, where Qin Shuang used her access privileges to request an Exquisite Skill Gem from the college. Once everything was in order, she entered a training hall and called in Han Wu, Jing Jing, Sun Qingnian, and a few others to stand guard for her.

With her preparations complete, Qin Shuang submitted a request to the Will of the Divine Civilization to start her Major God ascension. The civilization’s Will locked onto her and poured energy into her body.

Bolts of lightning rained down, striking her repeatedly until she was drenched in blood. Han Wu’s chest ached at the sight, but he could not step in. Doing so would only hurt Qin Shuang’s chances of successfully breaking through. Every bit of suffering had to be borne by her alone.

Fortunately, Qin Shuang’s foundation was solid, and she cleared the trial without much trouble. After becoming a Major God, Qin Shuang gained a new ability called Electrostrike, which greatly enhanced the potency of her lightning control and pushed her already formidable attack power to yet another level.

“I did it! I actually did it!” Qin Shuang cried, throwing herself at Han Wu, pouring all her excitement into the embrace. Ascending to a Major God meant a great deal to her, as she had come from a God family.

“Congratulations,” Han Wu said, gently patting her on the back.

Sun Qingnian chimed in with his own congratulations, though Han Wu’s sharp ears caught a distinct strain behind the words.

After making her breakthrough, Qin Shuang needed time to stabilize, so she returned to her dormitory to train and consolidate her gains. Jing Jing still had the divine war to attend to and thus didn’t linger either.

Before she left, Han Wu handed her the unsealing technique, the Magic Seal Breaker, and asked her to pass it along to Xu Hai, the Wisdom God King, along with a message that he would be back soon.

Jing Jing’s departure meant only Han Wu and Sun Qingnian were left.

“Tell me, what’s been going on with you lately?” Han Wu asked, not wanting to beat around the bush.

Sun Qingnian let out a bitter smile. Nothing got past his best friend. “To put it simply, my lover, my mistress, and my wife have all ended up in the same place.”[1]

Han Wu mentally ran through the relationships. Sun Qingnian’s lover was Shi Shan, the Blazing Warrior God, whom Han Wu had met before. He had married Jin Tuantuan in the Divine Weapon Civilization, and she had recently completed the paperwork to become an official citizen of the Divine Civilization, successfully awakening her divine realm in the process. As for the mistress... that was a new one.

“I’ll let the fact that you were chasing women across foreign civilizations go,” Han Wu said with an unimpressed look. “But who’s the mistress?”

A sheepish expression appeared on Sun Qingnian’s face. “Ms. Lina.”

Han Wu’s scalp went numb. That was impressive, even by Sun Qingnian’s standards. He had truly outdone himself.

“You didn’t even spare your teacher?!” Han Wu asked, on the verge of tearing his hair out.

“What can I say, the heart wants what it wants,” Sun Qingnian said helplessly.

“When did you and Ms. Lina get together?”

“During the trip to the Giant Shadow Civilization.”

Han Wu felt a sudden urge to grab Sun Qingnian by the collar. “You never go very long between women, do you? I’m staying out of this mess. You’re on your own.”

“Brother, you’re my only real friend,” Sun Qingnian begged, grabbing his arm and refusing to let go. “You can’t just leave me hanging.”

“What do you want me to do? This is beyond even me. I’m not cut out to be your wingman in something this complicated.”

“I’ve already analyzed the situation. The main issue is that my baby can’t quite accept sharing me with someone else. If I can resolve that, I can handle the rest. So, I came up with a plan. My baby has always wanted to fight you. If you beat her, she’ll feel down, and I can comfort her. That might be enough for her to forgive me.”

“So basically, you want me to beat up Ms. Shi Shan,” Han Wu said flatly.

Sun Qingnian nodded. “That’s right. But don’t be too rough. She’s my baby. I’ll feel terrible if she gets seriously hurt.”

“Do you even have a heart left to feel terrible with? Because all I see is someone with three hearts for three women.”

Despite Han Wu’s words, he already knew he was going to help. They had been through life and death together. He couldn’t just watch Sun Qingnian die in his own romantic disaster.

Sighing, Han Wu relented, “Just this once.”

Sun Qingnian lit up.
